Piece and tranquility were our vacation goals. Couldn't of asked for a more peaceful home to stay in. Wonderful location. Deer visiting every day was wonderful. Thank you.
We had a great time here on our vacation. We have been coming up to this area for 40 yrs now and just love it. It was the 1st time at Guptill Cottage and we would definitely come again. The grounds were beautiful and the location awesome. Taking the ferry over to Bar Harbor for a day is fun too. We love the quiet side of Acadia and Scoodic Point.
We spent a week at Guptill Cottage in mid-August. It was our family’s first trip to ME, and we were booking late and having no luck. We were so excited when someone canceled and we were able to snatch up this lovely property. It was myself, my husband and our teen son and daughter.
The cottage is everything you see in the pictures, but more. The location is amazing, jutting out into Frenchman’s Bay. We enjoyed coffee in the mornings on the deck and in the sunroom. We loved watching seagulls and seals from the yard. Our daughter flew a kite on the rocky shoreline one day that she bought at the Five and Dime up the street. We loved stargazing at night - have never seen the Milky Way so stunning! It was during the Perseid Meteor Shower, and we caught many shooting stars at night.
The cottage has every amenity you might need. We grabbed groceries on the way but there were already some necessities there. (Don’t buy bug repellent! There are several in the cabinet above the washing machine.) We cooked a couple of nights and ate out others. The Tree House restaurant up the street was great!
The cottage is 2 minutes from the Schoodic side of Acadia National Park. We hiked to the top of Schoodic Head for amazing views! Cottage is about an hour away from Mr Desert Isle, but we had never been to Acadia, so wanted to see the sights there. It is worth the drive!!
Cheryl is a responsive host, and let us enjoy our trip without a bunch of demands. Book it today!!
We loved our stay at the Guptil cottage. The cottage was very clean, well maintained and the kitchen had everything I needed to cook for my family. The cottage was quaint but spacious. The real star of this spot is the view and location. Close to Winter Harbor charming Main St and the park. We enjoyed watching shore birds and saw multiple seals. Our teens enjoyed fishing and hunting sea glass from the property. The working harbor added interest as we saw the lobsterman pull up their pots. A truly restful time making memories.
The cottage exceeded our expectations based on listing. The cottage and location are what you envision when thinking of a quintessential New England working harbor. The proximity to Schoodic Point was incredible. The town of Winter Harbor was great. We were surprised how well stocked local market was.
The property exceeded our expectations. So much love has been put into this home, inside and out. The house feels like a lived in home with everything you would need to immediately begin your quiet and relaxing vacation. We loved the views, exploring the rocky beach, talking around the firepit, and watching the lobster boats departing and returning to the cove throughout the day. A wonderful Maine experience on the quieter side of the park.
Beautiful ocean front property. The combination the smell of the roses and sea air was heavenly. The cottage was immaculate and very roomy. The fresh flowers on the table from the gardens was an extra special touch. The beds were very comfortable. The DVD player didn't work so they went out and got a new one so we could watch a movie in the evening. We couldnt have asked for better accommodations. Definitely would enjoy returning again.
Amazing location. Best spot in Winter Harbor. Minutes to walk to the Gerrish cafe, cocktail bar and restaurant, the Gallery, and the new Tree House restaurant. Minutes to grocery, lobster rolls, and the local five and dime. Two fresh lobster and and seafood co-ops. A short 5 minute drive to Schoodic Ranger station and the Schoodic Penninsula drive. Acadia hiking at its best. This has amazing views from the deck and porch, as well as the rest of the cottage. Take the ferry to Bar Harbor, or take a short drive to Corea for lobster rolls and the ward. The Pickled Wrinkle pub is a few minutes away and right next door you’ll find amazing ice cream. Art galleries galore within a short drive. If you want to get away and recharge, this is it!! Thanks Sylvia and Cheryl.
