Beautiful location right on the Black river with fairly easy canoe access (steep but short hill to maneuver the canoe up and down but steps right down to the water).
The listing says one bedroom, but it is large and with two queen beds.
Owner is really responsive and helpful as well!
This was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. It is quiet, peaceful, and has great views of the river. The home is small but the space is used efficiently and it had everything we needed. It's far enough out of town to feel "away from it all" but not far to get to the Dairy Way, we went twice! Great value, I'd definitely stay here again.
We loved our stay here. It was so nice to just be out in nature. The big windows gave us an amazing view of the river. So many birds chirping and bunnies! It was very relaxing.
The wifi worked great for us!
We would definitely come here again.

Cottage on the River
It was ok as hotels in Black River Falls not highly rated. Remote if that is a feature you want. Driving on rural rough roads. View of river was very nice. 2 Adjacent houses were close so this might be a consideration in warm months.
Instructions for using gas fireplace & floor heat would be useful. It was cool & rainy during my stay.
Layout of cottage good. Beds very comfortable.
some matching glassware & more than one wine glass should be stocked. Kitchen utensils mostly odds & ends. Functional pans, tableware etc.
owls at night were great!
We had a great stay! Enjoyed the wildlife, but would have preferred they stayed outside. We had a little visitor in the house who popped his tiny head out once in a while (mouse). Other than that, it was perfect.
The cottage was great with 2 exceptions. It was peaceful and being right off the river was beautiful. The shower was the smallest in the world and we're not large people. And the wifi is terrible. Do not expect to kick back on a cold night and watch a movie. The overall experience was pleasant.
Great little cottage with all the amenities! Huge deck and plenty of seating! Love the decorations! Perfect for our family of 4! Beautiful view of the river and very relaxing! Short drive to town. This is the perfect location! We will be coming back!
This was a very cozy little cottage with plenty of room for four adults. The bathroom is very small with a tiny shower space but we made it work and don’t have any complaints about it because the rest of the place is so nice. Wifi was very in and mostly out but this was not a big deal for my family. If you absolutely NEED wifi then not a great choice. There were plenty of dishes, towels, blankets, and overall it was super cute and cozy. We will go back again!
My group of age 70+ ladies had a marvelous time biking on the Omaha Trail down by Camp Douglas - there's a tunnel, hiking at Perry Creek, and biking the roads around the cabin. Lots of Mexican Train Dominos grilling, smores, and lounging on the deck.
Clean, cozy, comfortable with wonderful outdoor spaces to enjoy the quiet and view of the water - beautiful deck, swings, comfortable patio furniture. Easy access to the water. We took the kayaks up to the public canoe launched and kayaked down the river is shallow and perfect for sitting in a lawn chair right in the water. We will definitely look to book again and will recommend to friends!
Overall we enjoyed our time at this property. It was very quiet, and you could easily spend lots of time sitting down by the water! I couldn’t give 5 stars because it smelled like wet dog when we arrived at the property, even though it says in the description that dogs aren’t allowed! It also would’ve been nice if there was a binder or something for guests to read through about what’s around and what’s at the house, or what is expected of the guests before leaving!
This place suited our needs for a short weekend getaway, and would definitely go back!
Beautiful cottage on the river. Very peaceful and relaxing. We were in the area to visit family and this was a perfect place to stay ❤️

Nice
Cute, clean cabin! Pictures do not do it justice. I do wish they would disclose that there are neighbors right on top of you. While they did keep to themselves, it wouldve been nice to know first hand. The Wi-Fi isnt a "true" Wi-Fi barely any signal at at. Communication with the owner could have been a little more prompt and descriptive. I asked if you could swim off the property and if it was safe. I was told yes. Which unfortunately was not true- there are stairs that go down to the river, then its like a big dop off. Luckily there was a community center with a pool and water slides that we found for kids. Couldnt use the fire pit, but there was a burn ban in the county. Overall the place is very nice.
We very much enjoyed our visit and this rental suited our needs well. The peacefulness of this location reminded us of home. Friendly neighbors next door. We appreciated that we could do a Black River float using the kayaks on site. Great time!
The pictures of the property were misleading. The charming decor was nonexistent. The bed linens were old and worn. The cabin apparently hadn’t been cleaned after the last guests. We did wipeout the refrigerator and sweep the floors. On closer inspection we decided it would take some serious cleaning. We decided not to stay at all. We left and rented a hotel room instead. The property manager said he would make it right by us. Sadly, we haven’t heard from him since. Nor has he answered or returned any of our calls.
