The photos make this property look newer and nicer than it is. In reality, it appears to be a very cheaply done flip that was very dirty. We spent the night and left as soon as we could. The kitchen was too dirty to cook in and everything seemed to have a film of body oils. Probably the second worst property we’ve rented over the years.
Me and a group of friends stayed at the house for a trip to explore Acadia. It's a great location; close enough to the park and Bar Harbor to hit all the big spots, but nicely super quiet and isolated. The house was very spacious and well-furnished, and everybody was comfortable. The best house rental experience I've had.
Clean, well-stocked house. Quick responses from managers. Quiet side of SW Harbor. Perfect away from crowds. Close to Bass Harbor light house. About 35 min to Bar Harbor.

Not worth the high price
If you are looking for a family vacation house on mount desert or bar harbor, I’d highly suggest looking elsewhere! This house was brand new, but uncomfortable for our family of 6.
-property was not found via GPS directions, it was necessary to ask a person for directions to locate your house. This should be included on the check in details.
-photos of the space are misleading, there was far less space than advertised. Your property says it can sleep 12, but our family of 6 had a hard time being comfortable in the space.
-the stairs to the front door were very difficult for my parents to walk up and down, posing a safety risk— particularly at night.
-the floor seams or transitions were a trip hazard for many of us.
-there were mosquitos all throughout the house.
-there was water damage in both of the bathrooms and a mildew smell throughout. The kitchen sink was leaking under the cabinet.
-the water from the secondary bathroom sink smelled like rotten eggs.
-the wall mounted a/c units worked, but the central air did not, causing our baby to sleep in a very warm and dangerous environment.
-the kitchen hood was literally dripping with grease and we had to clean it ourselves.
We are three adults, myself, my husband and my sister who had a wonderful 3 day stay at the Fitter House on Mount Desert Island’s “quiet side”. Our stay was at the end of a 4 week road trip through New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia, so we arrived at bustling Bar Harbor via the ferry from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. As Bar Harbor was so busy, we were really grateful that this property is on the quiet side of Mt. Desert and yet close to everything you would want or need. Charming South Harbor with its cute shops and restaurants (very uncrowded compared to Bar Harbor) is very nearby. The house is down a quiet, private road, not on the waterfront but surrounded by lovely woods frequented by deer. It also very close to some nice easy to moderate Acadia National Park trails. We really enjoyed doing the Shipyard Trail, an hour or so round trip walk through beautiful woods to the rocky coastline. Don’t miss Thurston’s Lobster Pound in Tremont…we both “ate in” and bought lobster to cook at our 3 day home.
The house itself has everything you need for a comfortable stay: a well-appointed kitchen, comfortable furniture and beds, fresh linens and lovely decor. The hosts left some water and snacks for us which were much appreciated, and also left some staples like coffee, cooking oil, spices, etc so we could prepare our own meals.
I highly recommend staying at this property if you wish to have some peace and quiet and still be close to every Mount Desert Island and Acadia have to offer.
