This is a standalone house in a very quiet neighborhood in southwest Reno. The backyard is fully fenced so feel free to bring your furry friends. Private parking for up to three vehicles. Across the street you'll find a small park ideal for pets or kids. Only four miles or 11 minutes from the airport and three miles for six minutes from Interstate 80 access at West McCarran Blvd. If you're in the area for skiing you are 35 minutes away from Mount Rose, 50 minutes from Squaw Valley, and 65 minutes from South Lake Tahoe. The check in process was great, friendly communication with owner. House was clean and tidy for us. Perfect small, fenced-in backyard for the dog. Would remember for when we come back through Reno! Quiet neighborhood too!
We stayed here because rentals in Tahoe were expensive and we really enjoyed our stay here, it was easy access to restraunts and freeways. Home owner was a great communicator. Home was very cozy and in a great area😎 we can't wait to come back next year!
The house is older and needs some care. The furnishings are mismatched and in poor condition. Couch cushions worn and torn, dishes chipped, Formica countertop burnt, cupboards don’t close. The kitchen sink faucet handle is missing and is replaced it a long bolt. One window has no locking mechanism. A second exterior door has only the locking mechanism on the door knob.
Initially the listing cited a hot tub and spa, but when I asked the owner about it, he said the property never had a hot tub. He revised the listing after our conversation.
We had trouble accessing the house and called the owner. After an hour we tried the lock again. Another renter came to help us and we finally got into the rental. Manager returned our call 3.5 hours later. Check in time is 5PM, later than anyplace we’ve stayed previously. We could have been outside until 8:30 PM. The locking mechanism was very erratic, often taking 5-6 attempts to enter. On the 5th day we were unable to lock it from outside. The manager came that day and changed the battery and it worked properly. We are in Reno 4-5 times a year but will not use this property again. The quality of the property does not match the price.
Immediately apparent; property was not as described. The landscaping was overgrown, broken window screen, hole in the front door, doorjamb shattered by forced entry, broken garage door and more. Unfortunately we rent for a full 3 weeks; money paid in full. The place was only "ok" clean, yet house smell strongly of old cigarette smoke. Garage laundry area was dirty. Furniture clearly yard sale finds and discards; soiled, broken, worn or torn. Leather couch torn and dirty. Shower curtain holes torn; curtain was dirty, mold on shower ceiling, kitchen sink smelled badly of mold. Concern: host would think we caused the some of the damage; none of this disclosed in the description or by email. VRBO said to contact host to resolve problems; problems could not be resolved during our stay. Photos taken, texted and emailed to host to verify it was pre existing damage.
When stated it should been have been disclosed in the description, Bart, the host became defensive stating he knew exactly what was wrong with the house, followed by “if you don’t like it, pack up and leave. MOST people like the place” and “go find yourself a place for more money”. Threatened by saying all he had to do was call VRBO, tell them he was having problems with us and they would have us removed that night. He never spoke of compensation in anyway or asked how he could correct the situation. I would not recommend this host or the house to anyone, NOT AS DESCRIBED IN LISTING, rude host. Photos on file.
We really enjoyed staying here, having a whole house and yard to ourselves and being part of the friendly neighborhood. I wish we could have stayed longer.
We chose this place because of its proximity to the person we were visiting. The size of the place was great and check-in was easy. When I contacted the owner for more TP (1/2 a roll for a 1-week stay was all we had) he was very responsive.
What was not great was the cleanliness of the place. The floor needs a good scrubbing, the beds could use new sheets, pillows, and blankets - and some new towels would be appreciated. It felt very cobbled together and dingy.
We came to Reno to visit family and this home was perfect for our family. My 3 year old and dog loved running around the yard and the park a cross the street. The beds were very firm but that’s how we like them so we were quite comfortable. The heater works great, there’s a well stocked kitchen, tv with lots of streaming options, and the family room and dining room are pretty big so there was plenty of room for visiting and just hanging out.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.
I will add that the fence in the backyard is a little short so I don’t think I’d leave a dog back there unattended if they’re a jumper but it worked great for us.
