Secluded Pink Snd Beachfront Estate w/Htd Pool, Protected Cove, Walk to Tippy

Welcome to On the Rocks, a secluded beachfront estate with pool located directly on Unicorn Cay Beach, a mile-long stretch of pink sand. On the Rocks is located on the Banks Road of Governors Harbour, the premier location on the island, a four minute drive from town and a 15 minute walk down the beach to famous Tippy’s beachfront restaurant and bar.

In addition to its mile-long beach, On the Rocks also features a unique sheltered beach area, where the water is often as calm as a lake, protected by a natural jetty of rock. Called the Venus Pool, this sheltered swimming and beach area is perfect for small children, or anyone who enjoys calm water.

The pool is heated with a solar pool heater. Note that solar pool heaters are less effective during overcast periods, so a solar heater cannot guarantee a warm pool.

Inside the estate home, the large great room with vaulted ceiling enjoys sweeping ocean views, as does the den /TV room, two of the bedroom suites, and the studio apartment.

There are 4 bedrooms in the main house, each with en-suite bathrooms and positioned so each room enjoys complete privacy. The 2 large ocean facing bedrooms have king size beds, or one can be made into 2 singles. The other bedrooms are one queen and 2 singles.

In addition, there is a den/TV room with two day beds suitable for children. With the day beds, the main house can sleep up to 10 guests. (THIS ROOM HAS AN OVERHEAD FAN BUT NO AC.)

On the Rocks also has a detached studio apartment with a queen bed, a full bath, and a kitchenette that can be added to the rental for $1000 per week. With the studio included, On the Rocks has 5 bedrooms and can sleep up to 12 guests.

On the Rocks has a/c and ceiling fans throughout except in the TV Room, which has an overhead fan. Amenities include back-up generator, two kayaks, super-fast Starlink internet, Apple TV, washer/dryer, CD players, along with a good library of books, backgammon and other games also in the house. Beach umbrellas are also included.

The town of Governor's Harbour, 3 miles from On the Rocks, has all necessary shops, banks, travel agent, grocery stores, gift shops and restaurants. It is picturesque and unspoiled. There are no large hotels or casinos on Eleuthera. It is a beautifully quiet and peaceful island. There are many beaches to explore!

A separate one-bedroom cottage called Pebbles is close to On the Rocks and can be rented along with it for larger groups.

Rates are on a sliding scale based on the number of guests. We set the rates this way to make the property more affordable for smaller groups who use less utilities and put less wear and tear on the house. If you enter the correct number of guests, the reservation system will calculate the rates correctly.

Family Fun at "On the Rocks"

The property worked perfectly for our extended family. The house was well stocked with everything one needed to enjoy the pool and beach as well as preparing meals. The views from the deck and house were unbelievable. Easy access to the beach was a big plus for us. We truly enjoyed are stay.

The driveway is the 1st obstacle to the house. You may bottom your car out a few times until you figure out how to navigate it. We were 3 couples and the setup of the house was perfect for us. This isn’t a 5 star house, it’s showing its age and could use some updating but it’s Eleuthera. The location and beach make up for any shortcomings in the house. We spent all day, everyday sitting on the beach and swimming. Bugs at night are annoying if there isn’t a breeze to keep them away. Bug spray works. Going to the beach at night and stargazing is recommended. The location of this house is the best. The pool was warm so we didn’t use it much, plus it needed to be cleaned. We had a rodent problem and an air conditioner issue but both were taken care of quickly.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The beach that this house sits in front of is amazing. We traveled with a newborn and a toddler, 4 adults and 4 kids ages 11-15. The kids all loved the option to have a gentle beach at the Venus pool as well as waves. We rented paddle boards and used the provided kayaks a lot. The swimming pool was great - it does look dirty even when it's clean due to the black bottom so just be aware of that. The house has a few quirks and needs a little fixing here and there - as island homes do - and after experiencing the difficulty of getting to Eleuthera, it's impressive that these beach homes can stay maintained at all. I'm sure it's difficult to get household supplies in general. We had plenty of beds and rooms for the 10 of us and the family with 4 older kids slept on the one side of the house while my family with the 2 littles used the 2 rooms on the other side of the house. The wifi is spotty in general so don't come here thinking that you'll be working remotely - nor should you want to! You will also need to rent beach chairs - they are not provided (the listing says they are) and you can't take the pool lounge chairs to the beach. There was a nesso tent for shade provided and a few sand toys like buckets/shovels and 2 puddle jumper flotation devices. The only suggestions I'd have is to get the dishwasher serviced - it left a greasy film on all the dishes after washing; and get some beach chairs for guests. I also emailed the owner twice before arriving to ask about shade accommodation but I wasn't answered. We ended up packing our own nesso tent and we were a little frustrated when we arrived that there was one provided. Traveling with 2 little ones causes a lot of luggage and it would've been nice to have one less thing to pack. The trees at the beach provide a lot of shade too. The house has a pack and play which was great. We also visited Receivers beach which had lots of good seashells and the kids loved finding them.

Nice Vacation

Pros: The house was very spacious. Large rooms. Comfortable beds. Beautiful back patio with view of the beach. Close to town. Cons: when we arrived the house was closed up and the air was turned off. I realize electricity is expensive but it was very warm in the house and it had an odor. The house was not in as good of condition as the pictures make it appear. It’s rather old and needs some TLC. Overall we had a wonderful trip. Would we stay there again? Probably not but it was alright for the number of people we had. One more thing…we were there when Hurricane Nicole was near. They were incredibly nice to offer us extended days if we weren’t able to leave on time.

Trip with kids and gkids

The property location is awesome. Views were tremendous. The beach is fantastic for kids, even being on Atlantic side. House is set up great for family/extended family. Main house with 4 bedrooms with baths, and studio with 5th bedroom, bath and kitchenette. Would rent again. Backup generator definitely a big plus, as the neighbors were w/o power for 12+ hours. 2 fridges great for large family. Gardeners were great with gkids, gathered and opened coconuts for them. Owner has games, etc for kids, was nice as we had some weather while there. Have no idea if TV worked, or if there was even a tv there, haha, if so, it was never turned on, even with 5 children. 😀 The internet service did work well. Only concern/complaint was being without water for 14 hours at checkin. Was mostly a communication issue. Worked well, no pun intended, the rest of the week.

The kids ages 18 months to 8 loved the pool and the easy beach access with a gentle reef to block waves. Loved having a generous outdoor and indoor dining table. The only surprise was how low the ceiling was in the studio as my son in law is tall. There are loads of pool and beach toys which is a treat. I highly recommend the place.

An Amazing Location and a Wonderful Home

And, many people walking by the house said the same. We were visited daily by a variety of sea life including a large stingray. Though the rocks were not as full of coral and sea-life as we expected, they were beautiful nonetheless. We snorkeled everyday. The house was clean and well-stocked. We enjoyed having two fridges. Also, we were close to Eleuthera Island Farm, which has fresh bread twice a week, a variety of fresh veggies and fruits, alcohol, and water. The market in town also provided us with the staples.Kim and Patricia were amazing. They were responsive and extremely accommodating. We drove down to Tarpum Bay one day and bought a huge hogfish snapper from the local fisherman which provided us with two dinners and fresh ceviche.A couple of suggestions:1. Purchase meat and dry goods before you go and bring them with you. The cost of a couple of luggage pieces is much less than purchasing on the island.2. Buy your alcohol at the liquor store across from North Eleuthera Airport (if you arrive here). Though you would think otherwise, they sell their beer for cheaper than any place we found.3. If you would like fresh fish the day you arrive, ask Bealuh (the woman who cleans the home). She provided us with fresh grouper at a reasonable price.Overall, we loved the house and the location.

The perfect vacation home for family and friends!

We spent 2 wonderful weeks at On the Rocks. Our first week was with family , and our second with friends. The house is as welcoming as an old friend, decorated with the owner's colorful art and treasures from their travels. The rooms were totally accommodating. Having bathrooms for every one is really nice. The view from the living room is spectacular and the furniture is lovely. We had a puzzle in works on the coffee table, a table for watercoloring, and a dining table that comfortably seated all 8 of us. The daybed room proved irresistible to those who pretend to read but actually nap. The kitchen was perfect for us, a group of people who love to cook with plenty of cookware, dishes and glasses. We bought grouper, conch and snapper from the fishermen in the harbor, great bread and produce from Bacchus, wine from Bristol in Cupids cay and all else from the markets in town. We had delicious lunches and dinners at the Buccaneer Club and dinner at Tippy's and brought yummy takeout from Bacchus as well. The house is situated on an exquisite beach, with trees providing sufficient filtered sun that we didn't need an umbrella. The Venus pool does not disappoint. It is perfect for children as well as evening cocktails. And then there is the snorkeling! The reefs out past the rocks sport some of the most colorful coral and fish I have seen in years. Beulah, the housekeeper, takes good care of the house and it's guests. We have stayed in 3 different homes on Eleuthera. All were lovely, but everyone who stayed with us at On the Rocks has already decided this is the place for next summer.

House needs a lot of work

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is wonderful. Easy access, private, beautiful views, easy beach access. The house on the other hand needs work. It had active termites in several rooms.Live termites, termite frass,and termite damage. Saw dust and termite frass would literally fall out of doors when closed. Louvered windows that don't close all the way, so heat and bugs seep right in. AC in the master bedroom wouldn't cool. I ended up sleeping in another room. There was no satellite TV as promised. Not even a box. Kitchen did not have AC (which was disclosed) but was never got cooler than 81 degrees. The house was somewhat dirty when we arrived. My wife spent the next morning cleaning. The housekeeper that was supposed to clean, never came. The pictures are very misleading. I have stayed at a lot of places in the Bahamas, so I have a good idea of what to expect. This was not up to par.

Stellar Beach

Another wonderful stay at On the Rocks! We love the layout of the house! Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for a large family. The living area is huge with sliding doors to the most spectacular view of the ocean. Lots of games for the family to play. Many thanks to Misty, who took great care of the house and us! The house has a large kitchen and bar area with plenty of cooking utensils and dishes. We love the new grill. The location of this property cannot be beat, close to town and amenities. Yet it offers privacy and one of the most spectacular beaches we've seen. We snorkeled outside the rock formations several times. Perhaps some of the best snorkeling we have experienced in many years. We saw over 100 varieties of large and small bright and beautiful fish! Along with a huge school of giant parrot fish. If you like to spend most of your time on the beach and in the water. This is a great place!

Best Eleuthera Beach

On the Rocks is a lovely house in a magical location! Perfectly situated on a beautiful rocky point that provides privacy and access to one of the top beaches on the Atlantic side. Pat and Robert have beautifully decorated the house and the layout is perfect for a larger group. We enjoyed preparing meals in the big, well-outfitted kitchen. Between surf and snorkel sessions, we enjoyed lounging on the front patio and lawn. The bedrooms are large and provide comfy beds. We really liked the way that each bedroom had it's own attached bath. This location on Eleuthera is very convenient to Governor's Harbour and Rock Sound. Either township is a quick drive on nice roads. We found some very good snorkeling and caving sites within a 10 minute drive. PROTIP: If the weather is ugly - go visit some cool caves! North Palmetto is a nice settlement. There are a few medical clinics and a few places to get really good Bahamian food. If you walk north on the beach, you can enjoy Tippy's after a nice 20-minute beach walk. If you are VERY LUCKY you might get to meet the owner's 3 cute beach dogs. They visited us twice daily and provided lovely tour guide service on a couple of beach hikes. Overall OTR is a fantastic beach rental! It is well-appointed, well-managed, and priced right. We'll be back...

Fantastic Beach

We had a fantastic time at On The Rocks! The view from the home rivals any island place we have visited & we have been to many islands. Being close to one of the best restaurants on the island was great, we ate at Tippys several times. Also, being right on the beach with easy access was perfect ! The home is very comfortable & creatively Bahamaian

Wonderful Family Time

We stayed at “On The Rocks,” in July of 2016. We were immediately impressed by the art and décor of the property. It has a very beachy, colourful, island feel. The property has the capacity for a large number of guests. It has a full kitchen and utility room. Although the location was quiet and remote the property still provides modern conveniences. Nearby there are two wonderful delis with fresh coffee, pastries and bread baked daily. We were a family of two teenagers and a four year old. My eldest daughter and I spent our time reading and working on our tan. We went swimming and enjoyed relaxation time on the sun trapped patio. There is a library of books and magazines. My son and his Dad played board games, also provided and went snorkeling. We even bought the four year old her own snorkeling set as there was such an array of ocean life to be discovered at the beach. The beach was second to none. It was like something from a movie, with pink sands and turquoise waters and more or less completely private. We spent hours enjoying the shallow waters. It is advisable to wake with the sun and take a sunrise walk at low tide. The views of the sunrise across the quiet ocean were majestic. The restaurants close by were fantastic and we would especially recommend Tippy’s where you will soak up local culture and atmosphere and also the 1648, a fabulous dining experience with great service and delicious fare. Another adventure that we would recommend would be a day trip to Harbor Island which can be accessed via ferry. Once there, rent a golf buggy, explore the great shops and restaurants and visit the Gallery for beautiful local paintings and photography. You won’t be disappointed. Our trip to Eleuthra and our stay at “On The Rocks” will remain in our hearts and memories for years to come.

We love this place!!

My family has rented "On The Rocks" several times over the years. You will not find a more lovely location in the Bahamas. Each room has it's own charm, with the master bedroom suite within ear shot to the relaxing sound of the ocean waves. The house sleeps 10 very comfortably, and the ground are pristine. If you are looking for a small slice of paradise, you will find it here. The owners recently installed all new windows and floor to ceiling glass sliders. Thank you to the owners and property managers for sharing this unique home.
