About this property
Lucky Bear Lodge: New Ski Mountain House-3 acres-Minutes to slopes!
Enjoy 3 or 6 months in this brand-new home! Be one of the first families to experience this refreshingly clean and comfy home with a creative aesthetic. Just about everything is new...and we mean everything. You'll enjoy new kitchen appliances; new OLED and QLED TVs; new beds and bedding; new window treatments; new ceiling fans and fixtures; new glassware and cookware...even new wastebaskets!
Nestled in the woods, the beautiful, just-built oasis has all amenities for 1-2 families. Lucky Bear Lodge is one of the finest brand-new homes in this winter-sports mecca. The house is mere minutes to world-class slopes - 8 miles to Cannon, 18 to Loon, 23 to Bretton Woods. Trails to hike, bike, cross-country, snowshoe, snow mobile and ATV are a fast walk or drive away.
Inside this mountain sanctuary, you'll discover hand-hewn, vaulted wood ceilings and walls; open floor plan; abundant lighting; magnificent granite counters; and stunning modern decor. Bountiful natural light streams through a multitude of windows into the 1,620-square-foot gem. The windows are dressed in cellular shades from Levolor.
There are two enormous fireplaces; chef's kitchen with stools around a large island; extra-capacity washer and dryer; upscale finishes throughout; oodles of art, books and games; and strong Wi-Fi.
The inviting exterior is graced by two spacious covered porches that practically surround the house. Luxuriating on either porch, you can sip a cup of steaming coffee during the gorgeous sunrise or a glass of wine during the divine sunset after which the stars put on a dazzling display.
The front porch, which stretches the entire width of the house, contains a generous outdoor dining table and 6 chairs; two benches; an oversized rocking chair; and Buddy the Wood-carved Bear to welcome you. There are also 2 ski holders, which accommodate 8 sets of skis, and 2 boot cleaners.
The porch off the primary bedroom, with steps to the secluded side and back yards, contains an artsy wicker chair and ottoman as well as 2 chaise lounges. You won't see another house, but you may see a visiting rabbit. Lay back and breathe the crisp mountain air.
The fully appointed, one-story Lucky Bear Lodge is in mint condition and offers all-new electronics, including 75-inch QLED Samsung TV and Sonos Arc surround sound in the living room; 65-inch OLED LG TV and Sonos Beam soundbar in the primary bedroom; and 55-inch LG TV in the bedroom with queen bed. Streaming services come from Samsung and LG plus you can use your own.
The gourmet kitchen is bountifully equipped with specialty cabinets from Omega Cabinetry; high-end stainless steel appliances from Beko (Europe's fave home appliance brand) including a gas range with 5 burners on the cooktop and a convection oven with air fryer as well as a French-door refrigerator and quiet, powerful dishwasher; cast iron farmhouse sink from Kohler; 4-seat breakfast bar; elegant kitchenware by names including Le Creuset, Mikasa and Fiesta; professional knives by Ergo Chef; Silk tile backsplash by Anthology; coffeemaker; wine glasses; pantry with shelves and pull-out baskets; Vida Sana blender...and everything else you need to create incomparable farm-to-table meals.
The kitchen flows to the living and dining rooms. The living room spotlights an exquisite 6-1/2-foot electric fireplace by SimpliFire, which provides additional heat, on a wall of Koryak stacked stone by Eldorado Stone; power-reclining leather couch and loveseat; handsomely upholstered swivel chair; midcentury modern mahogany table; hand-knotted solid Gabbeh wool rug; and plenty of throw pillows and blankets.
The large, glass-topped dining room table is amazing for casual bites or dinners for the whole crew, easily seating your family and even extending. It sits atop a hand-knotted Kashkuli Gabbeh wool rug.
Unwind in the bedrooms, which feature Fanimation ceiling fans; fresh mattresses and bed linens; naturally inspired rugs; iHome Power Bluetooth Alarm Clocks with Dual USB Charging and Nightlight; and windows with views.
The primary bedroom includes an extraordinary fireplace by SimpliFire; luxe king bed with oiled-bronze headboard and footboard as well as Tempur-Pedic mattress; two wood bureaus; walk-in closet; reading corner; sliding glass door to private porch; and ensuite bathroom with a huge shower, double vanity, tile floor and Japanese- or bidet-style toilet by Brondell.
On the other side of the home is a light-filled bedroom with a queen-size bed, midcentury modern wingback armchair and hand-woven kilim modern wool rug; a fun bunkroom with double twin-over-twin bunkbeds, polka dot Italian accent chair, and game and toy closet; and a bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower/bath combination, Salt Glossy tile backsplash by Anthology, tile floor and extra-capacity washer and dryer.
Need to mix a little business with pleasure? Lucky Bear is perfect for remote work. Take advantage of our workstation with a stylish desk and chair plus task lamp.
Free, high-speed internet access comes via Starlink, which provides consistent download speeds of an average 200 Mbps. Delight in unlimited HD media streaming and use your own streaming accounts on any of the 3 Lucky Bear TVs - nothing else is needed.
A house phone can be used for local calls. While there's much to do in the area, there's also plenty in the house for apres-ski serenity: A bookcase is filled with nonfiction titles covering travel, leisure and cooking, and lots of toys and games are at hand.
Lucky Bear Lodge's outdoor space showcases star-filled night skies. The flat,
expansive driveway has a parking area suitable for many cars. There's simple, 5-step access to the one-level home; enter through the mudroom with plenty of space for your outdoor gear and boots. The mudroom centers on a South African glass-topped wood hall table plus a chair, stainless steel coat tree and recycling center.
We're half a mile from a “Moose Crossing” sign, so watch out for Bullwinkle!

About the host
Hosted by Debra Simon

Debra is a writer and editor. Jay is a chef, artist and divemaster. Able to do our jobs from anywhere in the world, we visited 37 countries and all 50 states before choosing to settle in the majestic White Mountains. Last winter, we bought Lucky Bear - a sparkling new house in the idyllic hamlet of Easton, N.H. We just can't keep Lucky Bear to ourselves, so we're making it available to a special ski family for the season.
Why they chose this property
Lucky Bear Lodge is ideally situated in the heart of the White Mountains, just a quick drive to participate in all winter sports. Easton is the birthplace of Olympian Bodie Miller, who learned to ski and trained at Cannon Mountain.
Mileage from our house to ski mountains: Cannon 8 miles; Loon 18; Bretton Woods 23; Campton 32; Waterville 41; Dartmouth Skiway 40; Attitash 43; Black Mountain 51; Cranmore 53; Wildcat 53; Storrs Hill 58; Gunstock 67. First-rate hiking is plentiful in Franconia Notch State Park and White Mountain National Forest. The Appalachian Trail crosses just 8 miles from our house.
Lucky Bear Lodge is a stone's throw not just to a dozen ski mountains but to many other recreational opportunities. Your family can indulge in all the White Mountains has to offer, including ice skating, snow tubing, snowshoeing, dog sledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides and more.
Mileage from our house: Robert Frost House 6 miles; Franconia Art Walk along the Gale River and Franconia Iron Furnace 7; New England Ski Museum 9; Franconia Notch State Park, featuring Cannon Mountain, Echo Lake and the waterfalls in Flume Gorge and The Basin 10; Ice Castles, Woodstock 14; Mt. Washington Resort, where the famed Bretton Wood Agreement was signed, 19; Mt. Washington, tallest mountain in the Southeast, 51.
Lucky Bear Lodge is only 4 miles to country-inn dining, cross-country skiing and horseback riding at the Franconia Inn as well as 7 miles to Franconia Market and a few bars and eateries in town. It's 13 miles to the popular towns of Bethlehem and Littleton, which are chock full of shops, galleries, craft breweries, restaurants and other places to go for a drink. Restaurants, breweries, bars and shops also are humming 15 miles from our house in the adorable towns of North Woodstock and Lincoln (home to Loon Mountain). Outlet malls and more local shops, eateries and places to grab a drink are available in North Conway, 54 miles away, and Tilton, 59 miles away.
