Disappointing Stay
Our family had a disappointing stay in this house. It is an extremely uncomfortable, old house that is furnished with old and uncomfortable furniture and cluttered with useless junk. The house is heated with a hot water radiator/boiler system that cannot be controlled easily. The 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor got so hot during the night that you could not sleep. Trying to regulate the temperature by opening the window did not work due to all the street noise. The house is on a busy street and surrounded by businesses. My adult children finally moved out after 2 nights because they could not get any sleep due to the excessive heat. The house is furnished with old furniture. The sofas in the living room are old and uncomfortable. I can only imagine how filthy they are after all these years. You must watch which chairs you sit on in the dining room. Some of the chairs are coming unglued and falling apart and are dangerous. The TV keeps disconnecting from the internet. It took me way too long to realize that you have to unplug the TV for a period of time then plug it back in to reconnect. This house needs a complete remodel to bring it up anywhere close to current standards. It is unacceptable in its current state. We have stayed in a number of nice VRBO’s, but this one is nowhere near what the others have been like.
The facility was very nice. The steam radiator heating took us a bit to learn to manage. The kitchen had a few gaps for someone preparing a Thanksgiving dinner for 20, but overall we had a great time.
We stayed here for a family holiday gathering, it was a central location for everyone to meet and gather. Beautiful and comfortable home. Beautifully decorated and lots of room. This house was perfect for our group, lots of room for gathering together and plenty of private space. Very clean and well stocked kitchen and bathrooms, and comfortable beds. We hope it will be an anuual event. Thanks!!!
This house was perfect for our group of 8 people, lots of room for gathering together and plenty of private space. Very clean and well stocked kitchen and bathrooms.
Eight ladies celebrated 42 years of friendship at your home. Each year we plan a long fall weekend to be together. We are from MN, FL & AZ. Your home is comfortable and met our basic needs. The warm fall weather this year allowed us to be outdoors on the patio area which we all enjoyed. We attended a play at The Chanhassen Dinner Theater which we recommend to all.
We had a great stay! Everything was very clean. The house has everything we could have needed including shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, etc. They even had very high quality toilet paper which sounds silly but I appreciated and noticed. The house has a lot of charm. The dining room chairs were not very comfortable for playing games but they were part of the decor and charm. Location was great and it was a bonus having the "World's Largest mustache" in our front yard since we seek out funny things like this on our trips. There were 7 of us and we would all recommend staying here!
This home was absolutely beautiful and PERFECT for our wedding weekend. Hosts were extremely communicative and there to answer any questions. The home historic charm and beautiful details really added to our weekend.
We had a comfortable, easy stay at this lovely home in Chaska, MN! I had good communication with the host, who replied quickly when I had a few questions. Bedrooms were comfortable and pleasant. Because there were six of us, and we stayed for several days, we cooked a fair amount and also did laundry. This was a great hub for us. The location worked really well for our trip; we visited the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and friends in a neighboring town. It was also easy to get out and take morning walks. Thank you!
We absolutely loved are stay at this beautiful victorian house. The 5 actual bedrooms were of modest size. All but one had A/C which was rather hot for the time we stayed there in July. But on a great note there was A/C in every other room and on the main floor. We had everything we needed for our stay, laundry facilities, pots, pans, glasses, cutlery. The coffee makeer is a drip maker with cone filters. The house did have a supply of coffee and filters, but next time I will bring some to leave for the next person. They also had laundry detergent and dryer sheets. Another plus in my mind. Lets just say that if you were travelling from abroad you would not need to bring anything like that. it had bathroom items like soap, Q tips, cotton balls. The area around the house is great. We were there for curling and it was across the street. There is a bar on the other side of the house but we did not hear any noise at all. There is wifi at the house as well and the tv has channels you can watch or you can use netflix or roku etc. This is a great house, The access was easy if you read the information that they send when you pay your final amount. They have all the instructions , and information you could ever need , if you read what they give you. There is a nice ping pong table in the basement.
The only negative I have is the A/C in the last bedroom and maybe 2 more chairs for outside. There was only 4 chairs. It is a big house with no doubt more than 4 staying
We stayed here for a family wedding in the area. The house was so lovely--all the little extras one would want as far as spices and kitchen bits (although we weren't there to cook at all). Super thoughtfully stocked in bathrooms. Comfy beds. Gorgeous home. Sad we didn't get to explore the home or area more. Perhaps next niece or nephew that gets married we will be able to stay again and experience more of the home!
Beautiful and comfortable five bedroom home. Easy to walk neighborhood. Close to restaurants and the Riverwalk. Owners were very responsive with questions. We noticed there were a few items missing in the kitchen, and owners were appreciative of our feedback. There is no dishwasher.
Charming historic feel. Beautifully decorated. Very well stocked, we cooked all meals here for our stay. Wonderful location. Very Clean! Would 10 out of 10 recommend!
This home is lovely! The beds and couches were comfortable, the kitchen was great for cooking in, and it is spacious enough to not be stepping on each other. The kids loved the ping pong table in the basement.
It is easily accessible and wonderfully placed. Parking is not a problem. We were walking distance from two huge parks and that was great. The best parts for us were that we were also walking distance from the best Mexican bakery El Paisano, Chaska Market, and Von Hanson's Meats butcher shop!
This property was everything it said it would be. Our family enjoyed our stay very much. The owners were very responsive if needed and the home was well kept. Across the street is the curling center with an outstanding restaurant. The walk along the water was beautiful in the evening. The town is quaint and worth giving a try. Thank you.
Loved this charming vbro! It was perfect for a small gathering of a baby shower. It was close to a few restaurants, and had ample parking. Would definitely stay again!

About the host
Hosted by John Shirley
We are Michelle and John Shirley. This is our second short term rental property. We live in the twin cities with our 4 kids and enjoy home improvement projects.
Why they chose this property
We love this beautiful house. When we first saw it we knew it had potential. So we worked very hard on the main floor bathroom and kitchen to get it up to par.
What makes this property unique
It is a historic home with charm. It is close to everything that you would need downtown Chaska.
