Very quiet and peaceful. The cottage had everything we needed after driving from Memphis, Tennessee. Enjoyed kayaking, we rented from Baldwin Canoe Rentals. They dropped and picked up kayaks and life jackets, it was awesome! Would definitely stay here again.
Perfect little cottage style home for two people. Back deck and patio area lead right down to the lake. No neighbors on one side and there seem to be no one home in the house on the other side. It felt very secluded. Brought our kayaks and we're able to put those in the water very easily. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.
This place is exactly what is listed! Small, cozy and private. Located centrally in Idlewild, it was the perfect distance from everything. The kitchen was fully loaded with all the utensils! It was a beautiful view to wake up to. All of my questions were answered promptly by the owner, before arriving. One of the best stays I've had away from home! The hosts were great to communicate with. I would definitely stay again!
Beautiful lake, it was a wonderful stay. The cottage was so cozy. It was easy to get to. The deck and back yard was great for sitting and having a campfire, watching the stars at night. There was easy access for kayaking and fishing. Great place to go for a long bike ride. Plenty of places to go hiking for the day. Looking forward to come back again.
We truly enjoyed our stay at this cozy cottage. It is quiet, peaceful and has a lovely view of Lake Idlewild. We appreciated that the hosts stocked the place with things including bottled water, coffee, and assortment of teas and microwave popcorn. The bed and main room furniture were comfortable. We'd stay there again and would probably rent kayaks to launch from the cottage dock to spend time on the water.
We were so thrilled with this cabin. You usually expect something a little more rustic when booking in Michigan, but we were thrilled with all of the conveniences and appliances. The dishwasher/washer-dryer were so nice and the kitchen was well stocked and made our stay so comfortable. The furniture was all cute and comfy and the back patio with lake access felt very private even with neighbors close by.
The hosts went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of and were so sweet. We absolutely would stay again and would recommend to all of our friends.
This was a quaint little cottage located on a quiet lake that placed my wife and I within comfortable driving distance to our favorite northern Michigan destinations. James and Shawna offered all of the amenities one would expect. We had some initial difficulty finding the cottage and actually had landed at the wrong cottage where we awaited our hosts because we were unable to unlock the door… until neighbors intervened wondering why we were making ourselves comfortable waiting for Shawna to help us get in “their” cottage! Although having a wall mounted large screen television, our only disappointment was the lack of cable access or internet that would have permitted us to stream entertainment.
Property is very lovely, quint, quiet, and scenic. Being on Lake Idlewild and watching all the lake activities was very enjoyable and relaxing. Every morning I ate breakfast outside and enjoyed! Kitchen was very well stocked except for no colander and cutting board. The sofa bed was not made up upon my arrival and it could do for a new mattress and cover. And, the French doors could use some shades for well needed privacy while sleeping. But, most importantly, please don’t drink the water. It smells of sulfur. But, overall the stay and the home was very lovely. And, yes I look forward to renting it again. Thank you for everything. V
We loved the cottage. It was clean and superbly located on the lake. The host has a great decorating touch - loved the super comfy leather sofa, sherpa rugs, well equipped kitchen, tea caddy and snowy view of Lake Idlewild. Perfect place for your writing retreat.
