About this property
Gateway to the Sierras
This house is a well-situated, comfortable house in a quiet, safe neighborhood in Visalia, California. You will find it to be a spacious and inviting home for a secure, comfortable, productive stay. I rent it as 2 bedrooms.
With sprawling backyard pets are welcome. The internet wifi connection is AT&T 5G. Fully stocked kitchen has been brought up to date. Towels and linens are included. There is a Maytag washer and Samsung dryer, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, new stove and oven. Fully functioning gas fireplace, for a cozy atmosphere on cooler nights, and of course central AC for those 'less cozy times'. Large backyard deck is optimal for sitting, reflecting, relaxing and watching the roses grow. The yards are spacious, populated by oaks, numerous fruit trees, walnut and ornamental trees. This house has historic value all its own. Not just because it was built in 1963, but because it was a project house built by College of Sequoia's Building and Trades Department. Its current owner having grown up in the house, has a small display of her mementos as a gold medalist during the 1964 Olympics in Japan. Lots of history in both the lovingly restored house and its owners!
Just three blocks from a well supplied local Market and under a 2 mile walk to downtown Visalia and its excellent choices of restaurants, antique, boutique and coffee shops with that small town flair. Downtown is home to the historic Visalia Fox Theater and Kaweah Hospital is only 1.4 miles away. Ideally located, Visalia is considered a Gateway to Sequioa Park, as well as an easy drive to Kings Canyon and Yosemite National Parks, Moro Bay and the Paso Robles wineries.

About the host
Hosted by Erika Holderith
I truly enjoy that guests appreciate and enjoy my house. I grew up in this home and have recently lovingly restored it. I particularly enjoy the wooden floors and antique kitchen table which my mother refinished. It is a pleasure to sit at the table whether for a meal of a cup of coffee and enjoy the view of the back yard. The large living room is particularly comfortable with a large sofa, also which I restored. My father loved trees and there are many apricot, plum, orange, lemon, fig, persimmon, walnut and cherry trees in the yards, as well as grape vines and beautiful ornamental trees.
Why they chose this property
I enjoy the view of the Sierra Nevadas, as well as watching little league baseball games in the school yard across the canal which separates my property from the school.
What makes this property unique
Located where 2 streets dead end into each other, the house is nicely secluded and, one of the charming houses in town that was built as project by the College of Sequoias Building and Trade school. Guests are invited to help themselves to the variety of fruit available on the property
