Reconnect with family

This was an option opportunity for making memories the we'll never forget. The accommodation were spacious and luxurious. We cannot wait to visit again. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen was adequate, bbq and ice box were an appreciated addition. Activities ranged from hammocks to hot tubs to board games and exploring the creek. Speaking of the creek, you have the option of parking right before crossing and walking across a small bridge instead. As for the steep hill, we made it just fine in our minivan. Overall a wonderful experience. Communication with the host made us feel secure during our stay. No cellphone reception but you can make calls over WiFi which was high speed. Thank you for an unforgettable glamping opportunity.

Great concept

Loved what you are doing here. I think the listing should mention that there are several other domes being constructed and it’s not quite a finished environment just yet but the dome served our glamping needs while we discovered RRG region. There were some maintenance issues that need more attention, nails popping up on stairs, dome panels falling, weeds to hammocks needed to be trimmed back or a gravel trail to them to keep out of the mud would be helpful. Also shock the hot tub weekly. The cleaning left a bit to be desired and the charge for the cleaning fee is a bit much for not having it cleaned well. But after saying all that, if those things are remedied, we would definitely stay again because we liked the area and the feeling of a different experience in the forest. Keep up the good work and hopefully we will see you again when construction is completed!

Such a cool and unique stay!!

Loved our stay at the Dome, the location was so convenient to the park and everything else we came to see. The Dome itself was more than we expected, loved that they had bottled water for us, it really seemed like they thought of everything, would definitely stay here again!

Fun Glamping trip

The dome was nice, clean and great place to come back to after hiking all day. They are building more domes that you can see from yours and their construction staging location is right in front of the dome. The road to the dome is a bit nerve-wracking but no biggie, we made sure to be back to the dome before dark. The kids loved the loft, the stairs are very steep, be sure to take your time. The hot tub, creek and fire pit were amazing!

Very Unique Property

This igloo was a unique experience to say the least! Very cool set up. Largely secluded property with plenty of explorable surroundings. I would certainly stay here again!

Perfect Overnight Adventure for Our Family!

Perfect overnight adventure for our family. Everything was easy to use and to get to. Our children loved it. Very clean, everything we used worked perfectly. Tons of blankets and heaters for colder temps as well. This VRBO was thoughtfully assembled and furnished for the comforts of a Dome Away from Home. Location is also great because it was close enough for us (from Cincinnati) to just do one night but far enough to enjoy the feeling of “getting away.” Large deck area for plenty of space to move about the dome area. Our kids could explore the wooded areas around the dome independently and felt safe without us breathing down their necks. Internet also worked great which helped stay connected to home if needed. The only thing I would say would be the spacing of railing poles (their official name idk) bc our 4yo could easily fit between them and sustain a fall from the deck if not watched closely. We also brought a standard baby gate for the top of the stairs leading up to the dome and it fit perfectly for our small dogs. Worth noting - the stairs to the loft area inside the dome are tall and narrow. Worked fine for us and our children but would be difficult for anyone who needs assistance on stairs or for toddlers. This dome experience is ideal for families but would be more challenging for anyone with babies on the move (crawlers/new walkers) through age 3 and 1/2. We loved this experience!

So glad we stayed here

We were considering the dome as a place to stay for awhile and finally decided to give it a try. The road off of 715 is gravel, steep, and uneven. We had a smaller sized suv and took our time and were fine. Check in was easy with keypad entry. The dome is actually cuter than the photos and obviously well thought out. The bathroom was stocked with anything you might need (soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, towels). The kitchen has a mini fridge, microwave, and hot plate. There is a charcoal grill on the deck and a cooler in case you need more fridge room. I couldn’t find any kitchen towels, which would have been nice instead of using paper towels. It is well water which they don’t advise drinking but did provide bottles of water. Hot tub was really nice after hiking trails every day. There was construction going on (more domes?) so it wasn’t as secluded as I had thought but no one bothered us. The bed on the main floor faces clear parts of the dome and we happened to be there during a full moon and got to watch it cross our view. And waking up to a wall of greenery was beautiful. Overall we really enjoyed the time away and can easily recommend.

Gorge Dome

We enjoyed staying at the dome! Clean, perfect home decor and peaceful. We had a fire, used the hot tub and relaxed outside on the picnic table in the morning over some coffee. Enjoyed this experience.

Super cool with a lot more potential though

The dome is super cool and unique and with some changes could be amazing! The listing should explain more that it is pretty far down drive into a scary mountain road (not just the bottom of a steep hill like stated). Also, the rain can be cool but is also VERY loud so if you’re a light sleeper or have kids, you’re screwed. Speaking of the rain if it rains too much, you are definitely stranded there with almost no way out so soon as it started raining I wanted to full panic attack and started trying to gather everything up to leave early. So all in all we were only there for a few hours, which definitely wasn’t worth $500. You’re also told you can drive over this creek to get to the place but if it rains that “Creek” floods really quick. The dome itself is beautiful and the little touches are awesome and didn’t go unnoticed. However, none of the little things we needed worked. The flashlights, lantern nor torch worked so we had no lights to see outside to go to our car. The area around the dome is kind of ugly also. One of the biggest reasons we booked this was to be in nature and there’s a bunch of construction and torn up stuff all around so it was not very pretty to look at. Pretty disappointing. We were told about the construction the week of the stay but by that point it’s too late to cancel or find something else. The stairs to go up to a loft are extremely long and steep and hard to climb. Also, the beds are rock hard. I didn’t mind but it hurt my husbands back badly. They do provide water for you, as they say you should not drink the water from the faucet there and the coffee was an amazing touch also! The fan was also great as we need fans to sleep! There was good and bad. We were willing to spend the almost $500 for one night because we just got married that day and we’re wanting something super special. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, we regretted it. 🙁 Maybe you’ll love it though as it is definitely unique and could be so worth it if some things were different.

About the host

Hello! My name is Allen and we own a company called Inndoorsy- we design, build, and host short-term rental properties. We're honored to host you!

Why they chose this property

The space
Our property is located on a 40ft. wide deck structure, lofted 2 stories in the air! The structure is a geodesic dome, wrapped in heavy duty exterior vinyl, but finished on the inside with cozy cabin furnishings. The space has running water from our well, electricity, HVAC, a full-bathroom, and 3 beds that can accommodate up to 6 guests... plus a hottub :)

Guest access
In addition to the dome structure, guests are allowed access to our 26 adjoining acres (the land located just behind the unit). There are 3 unmarked hiking loops/trails around the property, so un-hinged hiking and exploring is encouraged, but please be mindful that there are no markings to navigate your way to and from the dome. Across the property are cliff edges, small caves, and even a small waterfall (located on the left side of our property). Also, each guest has free access to "Spirit Lake" which is located at the last fork in the road just before our property. Although swimming is not permitted in the lake- canoeing, kayaking, and fishing are allowed!

What makes this property unique

Just some special little notes about the property:
+We have walkie-talkies in the home so that you can channel your inner kiddo as you explore the woods.
+Complementary Eno's are provided with every rental. (We even have hooking hardware located on the beams below the dome for your afternoon nap).
+The property is located right along a babbling creek- so the setting is wonderful for soaking in some relaxing sounds.
