Truly wonderful week!
We had an amazing time at Sue's chalet. Being on such a beautiful pond made a huge, positive impact on our trip. She has everything you need for a great time - life jackets, floaties, canoe, kayak, lots of paddles, fire pit supplies... the list goes on. Our kids and adults loved the easy water access! It was also terrific to eat meals outside and enjoy coffee overlooking the view. Our in-laws are getting older, and were a little concerned about the steps down to the water, but they managed ok. Our kids LOVED having their own space in the bunk house (didn't mind not having a bathroom there). A heads up that the queen and double rooms upstairs are part of the loft and don't have walls/doors, so best if you're with people you're comfortable with! We found we had everything we needed for a perfect week. Great hikes and fun things to do close by and within 30-45 minute drive and so nice to be in the quiet beauty. THANK YOU!

Beautiful view
We had a great time at Proctor Pond. I went with my 3 children and a friend and their children. We had a great time swimming and canoeing in the pond as well as making s’mores on the beach at night. We took a day trip to Conway Railway and rode the train and browsed the shops. All in all it was a positive experience.

Great family fun
We stayed here for a week in early August with my husband, two sons, daughter-in-law and two grandkids (5&6). We had a blast swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and enjoying the fire pit by the lake. NH attractions like Mt. Washington and Santa’s Village are within reasonable driving distance. The house offered everything we needed. Communication with Susan prior to the trip was timely and friendly. Definitely recommend this property!!!

Family cabin
We had two families stay here both with children under three. One family stayed in the bunk house the other in the cabin. The cabin is very nice and it’s lofted so the bedrooms look out over the first floor living space. Super quiet area this week we were the only people to swim on the pond or even canoe on it. Nice gentle mountain views over the pond on the patio is perfect for morning coffee!!

What a great spot to get away from all the noise. House was well stocked with all those little things you might forget. The pond was clean. We fished and swam all day every day - even in the rain!! Saw eagles each day. We would definitely recommend the chalet to our friends!!

Maine getaway
We absolutely loved our weeklong stay at the Chalet. The house was very clean and had everything one would need. We spent lots of time down by the water. It was the perfect beach for our kids to play in the sand and swim. We enjoyed fishing, canoeing, and s’mores by the fire. We also spent a day at Santa’s village, drove the auto road to the summit of Mount Washington, and enjoyed shopping on the quaint Main Streets of Norway and Bridgton. Also, Sue was a great communicator and made everything so easy! Definitely recommend!

Great family trip
We had a great week here! The house was clean, and had an open layout which worked well for our family of 4. The beach was sandy and had many chairs and toys for the kids. There was great communication from the host and we were impressed at the level of detail to make us comfortable- there was bug spray and citronella candles to help with mosquitos. We had to provide our own linens and towels which made it a bit tricky, but otherwise we had a fantastic week!

Quiet getaway
We enjoyed our stay on Proctor Pond. Even though you could hear cars on the highway during the day, it really didn't affect the fun we had. The water was fresh. We swam off our little beach, kayaked, canoed, and saw deer, loons, ducks and turtles. We ventured into the town of Norway and enjoyed art galleries and restaurants. We climbed nearby Tire 'Em Out Mountain. Great view at the top. The chalet itself was a very cool lodge. The bunk house did not have a restroom. Something to consider.

Peace & Quite
We just spent a week at the Alpine Chalet and had a wonderful time. It's so peaceful paddling on the pond, watching the local birds and beautiful sunsets. It's centrally located to larger lakes small town, streams and mountains. It has something for everyone, or you can just relax at the pond in a little slice of heaven. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Wonderful week on Proctor Pond!
We had such a fun week at the chalet. It was exactly what we had been looking forward to months before when we booked. The house is clean, cozy, and stocked with all the amenities one could imagine. Sue was a fantastic host and provided great communication before and during our stay. The home is very private and most days we felt like we were the only ones around for miles. The beach was a huge plus. It provided us with hours of swimming, fishing, relaxing, and good old fashion fun! As the listing says there are many stairs to walk down to get to the beach. A railing would be a huge bonus, but we were fine making the trek up and down the stairs when needed. Also, the stairs in the home leading up to the second floor may be difficult for very young or old. Fortunately, the bedroom on the first floor is where my 70-something parents stayed when they visited for a few nights. All the beds were comfy! Our kids (5 and 8) shared the bed at the top of the stairs on the second floor and enjoyed it. We stayed during a very warm and humid week but Sue provides many fans in the home to cool off with and every morning we all woke up feeling cool and searching for an extra blanket (which there are many). Adding a screen door at the front entrance may circulate more air? During our week we made a trips to Santa's Village, North Conway/Mount Cranmore, Bethel, (great hiking trails), Bridgton/Harrison, South Paris to visit family and also made stops at the local general stores (AJ's Everything and Melby's). The closest large grocery store is about 20 minutes away. We ate dinner outside a few nights (thank you for the citronella candles – although bugs weren’t too bad) and had a campfire on a couple of nights. There was even plenty of provided firewood - a huge plus!! The bald eagle we spotted on the first morning was special and got us completely in Maine vacation mode! The canoe, kayaks and other inflatables and beach toys were awesome to have! We would definitely rent this chalet again. Thanks so much for a wonderful week. We were truly sad to leave.

Relaxing Family Vacation
If you want a quiet, peaceful setting, this is the place for you! We spent 95% of our time on the private beach swimming, kayaking, building sandcastles, canoeing and fishing. We caught sunfish, bass, crappies, pickerel and more RIGHT off the beach. It was awesome. There were also so many turtles that my kids loved to see. Sue was fantastic and so organized. Any question we may have had was answered on a piece of paper left out in the camp. Would definitely return again.

Fantastic vacation!
This home provided us with a perfect vacation. The pond is small, clean, and so peaceful. Most of the time we were the only ones in it! I really appreciated the privacy of the beach area and the home in general. The sandy beach and lake bottom is wonderful and soft, unlike many other Maine lakes. The lake is down many stairs, which actually was a good excuse to get some extra steps in. We fished (successfully), kayaked, and swam. We even got to see a bald eagle fly right over and land in the trees near us. The house was clean and well stocked. Comfy beds, many pillow and blanket options. We kept the windows open 24/7 and that kept the house cool and kept fresh air flowing. Loved having coffee on the patio. The bunk house is adorable and although our kids were too young to sleep out there alone, they brought over board games etc. and I think they felt pretty cool to be in their own little house :) The house is about 20-30 minutes from bigger towns. We went to a few local breweries, ice cream/drive in movie in Bridgton, a gem museum in Bethel where you can hold pieces of the moon and Mars, and a quarry where you can search for different rocks and crystals. Most of the time though, we were down by the lake :) The wifi worked fine for our needs, and we only put the TV on one evening for a short time. There are tons of games for all ages (we got really into Scattergories), plus, if you are a reader, there are many excellent books and magazines. Lastly, Sue is a great host. She provides lots of details and reminders in advance and is quick to respond to messages and answer questions. Although she is not local, there are neighbors who help care for the property and they are also extremely helpful. Wish we could have stayed more than a week but reality calls!

Amazing getaway
The house was perfectly tucked away in the woods with so many things provided, which was so nice. The pond had a very clean, sandy swimming area, which was beautiful. The owner was nothing but accommodating and was very responsive to any questions that we had. It was truly a gem and I hope we have the opportunity to return some day.

We had such a wonderful time at the chalet this week! Such a perfect family vacation in a beautiful home. The kids (3 and 5) loved playing on the beach and taking rides in the canoe. We also loved fishing, taking walks, playing board games, doing puzzles, and relaxing by the fire. We hope to rent the chalet again soon and enjoy another perfect week.

Wonderful!
Wow! We had a wonderful vacation. Susan's home is far more charming and lovely than the pictures convey. We arrived to a clean, bug-free (nearly impossible to find in a Maine vacation rental), well loved home. The view over the pond is lovely, and the private beach is spectacular. We loved the privacy, making fires each night and the few neighbors we chatted with on the pond were friendly and welcoming. Each day we were greeted by a beautiful bald Eagle! Everyone in the family caught fish (bass, pickeral, crappie, etc). And we loved playing ping pong each night. We had so much fun we forgot we had a television! Susan is warm, accommodating and very easy to reach. You will not be disappointed with this lovely property.

Amazing Property
We had the most amazing week at the chalet! The house was clean and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and the washer and dryer were very nice to have. The bedrooms weren’t ideal for traveling with young kids (ours are 2 and 4), but we made it work. There is a downstairs bedroom with two twins, and two upstairs loft rooms where you have to walk through one to get to the other and both lofts open to the rest of the house with a short railing. The 4th bedroom is across the driveway in the “bunkhouse” which is an adorable space with twin bunks, full size bed, and a couch and fridge. The bedroom set up wasn’t completely clear to me from the listing, but it ended up working pretty well for us. There is also an awesome patio, grill, and deck at the house. The best part of the property by far though is the beach area! Big, sandy, private beach with three boats, shed for storing beach gear, and plenty of chairs, floats, life jackets, and sand toys. The water was warm and clear and there are only a handful of houses on the pond so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We spent all day, every day in the water. It was perfect for little kids and adults. We were all sad to leave and can’t wait to return!

Great stay!
We had a great time at Sue’s place. The house was well equipped and had plenty of space for 5 girls and two adults. My 13 year old and her friend stayed in the bunk house and they loved having their own space. There are plenty of water activities (a canoe, and inflatable boat, and a kayak) and the pond was lovely. Downtown Norway Is little, but has cute shops and cafes. We had dinner at Smokin’ Dave’s - highly recommend. The food was delicious and they were VERY accommodating admins careful when it came to my stepdaughter’s allergies. Everyone was sad when the week ended!

Perfect quiet secluded pond for family vacation
Perfect quiet secluded pond for a family vacation. We hiked nearby mountain trails but mostly stayed at the chalet, swam across the pond, kayaked and played for hours on the sandy beach. It provided the most water fun we have had in years and was ideal for grandchildren ages one and five. The house was comfortable with a nice patio overlooking the pond. Please note that one of the bedrooms on the second floor is a small open loft area that is also a passageway to the master bedroom. The shared half bath opens directly into the loft, so anyone sleeping there has no privacy. Both second floor bedrooms are open to the downstairs in traditional chalet style. The fourth bedroom is in a separate bunkhouse. The sleeping arrangements did not work great for us but the beach more than made up for any inconvenience. It was a five star vacation!

We had a wonderful family celebration at Sue's lovely Proctor Pond chalet. Many hours were spent kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, and floating - we didn't even leave the sandy beach to have lunch! The bunkhouse is so adorable, and the outside shower was fantastic! The property was well-appointed with just about everything you might need. So many memories were made there! Thank you Sue, Dick and Sandi!

Our family is very fortunate to live on Cape Cod with it's beautiful ocean beaches and then have this peaceful retreat on a pond in the mountains! We love all the activities of both locations...boating, tennis, hiking, swimming, and skiing!

Why they chose this property

I chose this Maine rental home because of the privacy, beach, pond, mountain views, and location. It was the family favorite after four years of looking all over Maine!

What makes this property unique

Slower heart rate, lower blood pressure, deeper breaths, more laughter, giggles, and smiles. It's a chance to read an entire great book. Enjoy a unique sunset most nights. Have relaxed conversations with family & friends. Embrace nature. Paddle a canoe out to the beaver dams or go down the creek. Tell ghost stories around the campfire. Barbeque a bison burger, drink homemade beer, and have a slice of Melby's BERRY BERRY pie! Enjoy a long, sound sleep!!
