We really enjoyed our stay. The host communicated well and was always accessible. The appliances and kitchenware were in great shape, and we loved all the blankets (and even an extra log for the fire for New Year’s Eve). The space was ver clean and beds were comfy, however the bunk bed wasn’t very stable. You can clearly tell the hosts were experienced and top notch. We loved our stay!
We had such a wonderful week here! The house is gorgeous. Even the beautiful pictures posted don’t do it justice. The owners have thought of everything in terms of what you might need during your stay. The location is awesome. We have stayed in many waterfront lake homes in Michigan and this is by far our favorite. The view of White lake from the house was so beautiful. We spent a lot of time on the porch soaking it in. There are neighbors close by (but not too close) and they were all very friendly and accommodating. It feels secluded and peaceful while also being just a five minute drive from excellent restaurants, shopping and area attractions. The nearby towns are super cute with plenty to do and see. White lake was perfect for floating, kayaking, and fishing (lots of bass!). There is a bit of a walk down a trail to get to the beach, but we were able to manage it well. We loved the quick access to Lake Michigan for a fun day on the beach and the “big lake”. The owners are fantastic. Super thoughtful and kind. We had a couple of minor issues that they responded to and resolved right away. If you are considering booking the Hygge House, just do it! A little bit more expensive than other places we’ve stayed, but feel like it was really worth it due to the excellent location, lake access, amenities, and beautiful, well-designed home. We’ll be back!

Hello and thank you for choosing our Hygge House! We are a couple of Midwesterners (I'm from Michigan, a Yooper in fact, and Francie from Ohio). We both enjoy the lake – Francie likes to be in it and I'm fine to just be near it.
We both went to college in Michigan though we didn’t meet each other until after we were both in Ohio. Francie is a social worker and I'm an engineer.
The pandemic introduced us to a slower pace of living and that’s something we’ve been trying to maintain. Our decision to make this a Hygge House stems from that. We hope you’ll make it a priority while staying here to be a little less connected, enjoy the peace and quiet, have great conversations, take in the views, listen to a record rather than stream and forget where you put your phone (and be ok with it) – all things we do when we’re here.
