This property is a small and completely adequate apartment in a quiet little apartment complex. It's a bit challenging to find at first and the instructions for the lock sent me in the wrong direction, but everything else worked, even if dated (example: electric plugs not grounded in the living room, so you can't plug in your computer). It's in a nice setting, easy to walk to Castro Street, little bodega at the corner, very clean, parking provided. No problems.
This apartment is in a very convenient location and it served all of our needs, but there are a few things to note.
First there are several noises that took some getting used to. There are neighborhood/complex noises (voices, cars and trucks from the parking beneath the unit, etc), but these are masked well by the white noise machines in each bedroom. Then there are noises that are inside the unit, the two main ones being the bathroom exhaust fan, which rattles significantly when it's first turned off (and which comes on automatically with the light, so you can't leave it off if you're using the bathroom light), and the furnace, which sounds and feels like a small earthquake, especially in the kitchen, the whole time it's on (it warms the unit well, though).
The second thing to note is that the parking space is quite narrow, with a wall on one side and a metal support on the other side. Backing in worked better for us than pulling in.
The condition of the unit is good overall, although it's a little used-looking. The carpet is pretty worn and sounds like it was placed over plastic in the hallway and bedroom areas...it sounds crinkly when you walk on it there. And the first plate we got out of the cupboard had visible food residue on it but that's par for the course for VRBOs, in my experience.
Communication with the property management company is so-so. They provided detailed information but didn't respond to questions.
