Little Farmhouse Cottage - Country Near the Coast

This 1940's farm cottage sits surrounded by open space. The area is in the Saugatucket River valley, in a little known hamlet called Mooresfield. This home is a rustic mini-working farm. There are many gardens and outdoor spaces here to enjoy peacefully after a long day of adventure. With a central South County location, the cottage is close to beaches, restaurants, shopping, rail, URI, and all points north and south. Newport is a scenic 20 minutes away. The house sits back and up from the road, and there is plenty of off street parking. The country road is sometimes busy, but that also means that it is an easy commute to anywhere you might go. A car would be needed to get around due to the rural nature of the property, but most destinations are only a 5 to 20 minute car ride away. Uber is a popular alternative to having a vehicle. 6 minutes to Rt 1 N&S. 5 minutes to the business district of Wakefield. You can stock up and never go shopping, or "run into town" for a last minute item. Golf courses, Great Restaurants, URI Campus, NOAA and Grad School of Oceanography, Beaches, Museums, the Block Island Ferry, the City of Newport and Historical Landmarks are all within a 15 mile radius.

Wonderful!

This was our second stay at the cottage and it was just as fantastic as our first stay in June 2024. The atmosphere is very peaceful, calming, and invites restfulness. It’s very close to great beaches and restaurants as well as excellent vintage shops.

Beautiful countryside

Lovely, peaceful retreat

We had a lovely stay. The cottage was well stocked, comfortable, and close to everything while feeling very private. Many beautiful plantings and outdoor spaces. Great showers indoors and out. We would come back and stay again!

Rhode Island Trip

The little Farm Cottage was unbelievably perfect. It was beautifully decorated, had all the comforts of home plus more.The setting was so peaceful and serene surrounded by beautful wild flower beds. Secluded yet so close to nearby attractions, beaches, great restaurants. we hope to return next year

Cottage was perfect for my week long stay. Location was convenient, but also very peaceful and quiet. Cottage was comfortable and had all the amenities I needed. I would definitely stay again in the future.

A Cozy Little Farm Cottage

Victoria’s cottage is always our go to stay for our summer vacation visit to Rhode Island. The location is away from the crowds but easy access to all the tourist attractions. The cottage is very comfortable and the property has gorgeous gardens. We love the vases of flowers about the house, the treats in the refrigerator and especially enjoy the outdoor shower after a long day at the beach!

A very charming cottage

We absolutely loved staying here. The cottage was so cozy and charming and had a lot of really nice touches. Great location in southern RI and we had a great time exploring the area.

We really needed a rest and this place was perfect! The proximity to beaches, walking/hiking, great food was an added bonus. We really appreciated the host’s attention to details, such as fresh floral arrangements in most rooms (not the kind to leave you sneezing at every turn), her notebook of helpful local attractions, best local dining, beaches, etc. Also, the place is a wonderful pesticide-free zone!

Little Farmhouse Cottage

A fabulous experience and hostess. Victoria was accessible and very personable whether she was tending to the horse or just walking the property. The home was clean and comfortable for our 5-day trip. Location was quiet and set back away from traffic with maintained yard and outside sitting areas. Will definitely consider the same property on our next trip back home.

Anniversary Getaway

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage! Great location away from the crowds but with easy access to all our favorite sites. Victoria's property is beautiful and we loved looking out in the morning and seeing her horse there. We will be happy to return to her place again next year!

Jazz Festival 24

Victoria is one of the most pleasant and communicative owners I have ever worked with and I've been traveling for 15 years. She was responsive accommodating to some last minute request and couldn't be nicer. Her property is exactly as appetized in a beautiful farm, setting, quiet close to go. The property is well accommodated , quaint and perfect for my wife and I.. the jazz festival, which is where I had work.

Great couples retreat

Very nice cottage. Away from busy areas but quick trip to beaches and shopping. Comfortable bed with plenty of linens. Large bathroom with nice shower. Owner friendly and nearby but not intrusive. Overall great spot for a quiet getaway.

This Is A Gem of a Home!

This home and property is located in a private neighborhood nestled in between a Christmas tree farm, yet is so close to all of the beautiful Rhode Island beaches, Block Island Ferry and great restaurants. The property is clean and lovingly well cared for by the owner herself with all sorts of antiques and cool decorations. If you are looking for a sweet getaway where you will be refreshed and especially if you love nature, this home will not disappoint.

Serenity now!

We had the pleasure of meeting the owner the day before we left (five day stay). She was a delightful, caring person who truly believes in hospitality. We entered this extremely clean cottage to find not only staples, but some thoughtful treats in the refrigerator. The outside was a haven! Peace, calm, & serenity exuded from every corner of this property. I sat for hours enjoying the well attended country landscape and walked almost every part of this enchanting property. Idyllic little getaway

Such a wonderful serene location! The property was beautiful with plentiful gardens and wildlife and the owner's gorgeous horse. The cottage itself was adorable with great outdoor spaces. Indoors was nicely decorated and well appointed. Super comfy bed and great shower for relaxing after a long day out & about at the Newport Folk Festival. Victoria was wonderful; friendly, helpful and very personable.

Narragansett (in South County) is my home town. I have a local's knowledge of the area, and love to share. Traveling for me is a favorite thing, but I always gravitate back home to Rhode island. I have done many things in my professional life, but I especially enjoy hospitality. I am also currently a landscaper by trade, and strive to create healthy ecosystems - both for my clients, and for my own backyard. Healthy living for all is my goal.
While hosting, I give my guests privacy but am available when needed.
I am sociable and enjoy sharing my area knowledge and my home. I will be on the property often, but respect the spaces and privacy of my guests. If there are any questions or requests, I am a quick text away.

Why they chose this property

We love to host! Attention is paid to detail to create a home away from home. There are few places in South County with both solitude of landscape and proximity to area attractions! The outside world is full of adventure, but you come back to a retreat. We are a tight knit farm community here in the valley, and we all look out for each other as neighbors. Nature and preservation take precedence.

What makes this property unique

This is a pesticide and poison free zone. We also do our best to clean with non toxic products - creating a space that is healthy for mind, soul and body. Our property is a living eco-system. The water from the well is pure and delicious. The goal is to build a better community through common sense practices. Appreciation is abundant here as we all share in the beauty of the land and it's inhabitants.
