About this property

Aunt Rose's cozy 1 bedroom cottage on the River Raisin in Dundee MI

This 645 sq ft one bedroom cottage has been recently updated as the photos show! I love this place and so have my guests! With a large shared backyard with my 2 bedroom cottage, it faces the river and is very relaxing. A cozy enclosed in porch is your entrance to the to the keyless entry door which opens into the kitchen.
The wide stoned driveway leaves plenty of space for workers with large work vehicles, and boaters!
The 55" Roku TV has an antenna for local channels. The washer and dryer and a full over twin daybed are in the living room. And there is a propane grill and seasonal outdoor seating with a patio in the back yard.

About the host

Hosted by Aunt Rose

Host profile image
I'm a natural host. I've been hosting since I was a child, making coffee and serving mom and her guests on Mondays, her day off work, running the family bakery and seven children. A strong work ethic was taught to us from an early age. Being from a large Sicilian family we hosted gatherings with family and friends frequently.

My job at the bakery was to welcome customers prepare their orders, fill and decorate products for the store and orders, take orders in person and on the phone, and pack orders.

Fast forward, and I worked in various industries with ManPower, and then UofM Hospital. While raising two boys I completed college, majoring in Electronics, then worked in the Utilities industry as Maintenance and Installation tech, radio, satelite, and remote telemetry. Then in the electric company as an I&C Tech, and Environmental Tech.

I know what it is like to travel for work and never feel at home in a hotel.
I didn't have the luxury of doing my laundry, cooking, and the freedom to roam a home instead of a room. Sitting on a couch and recliners instead of a bed or office chair.

Why they chose this property

This property was purchased in 2019 strictly for short-term visitors. Having the river in the backyard edge leaves a nice view while having a fire or just sitting on the deck. I enjoyed transforming these two houses on the property with the help of my boyfriend Jack. With a two bedroom and a one bedroom home on the same property you could rent both places for family gatherings. This house sleeps 2 in the queen bedroom, and 3 in the full over twin trundle in the living room. Guests love this little cottage with split air, and gas heat. It's only 645 sq ft. and only 0.5 mi to the center of the village, and boat launches to the river.
I saw a potentially good investment and I took the risk!

What makes this property unique

88 ft long backyard on the high bank of the River Raisin provides a great surrounding to gather with families or friends. With the opportunity to rent both houses it is a great location for small groups. The one bedroom sleeps 2 in the queen bed in the bedroom, up to two on the full bed in the living room which has a twin bed tucked underneath.
It sits back from a two lane highway with access to US 23 only a mile from the house. There are parks in the village which host events all year long. Kroker is 0.5 miles down the road. You can fish from the back yard in the river. (with a permit, which you can pick up in town if you don't currently have one)
