About this property
Magical Creekside Cottage in the Western Catskills
Welcome to The Stay Awhile.
Our river retreat provides the perfect backdrop for enjoying the outdoors or cozying up to the wood burning stove.
Located just about 2 hours from the George Washington Bridge, The Stay Awhile is convenient to many Western Catskills attractions and adventures: Delaware River floating and fishing; Shopping and dining in Callicoon and Narrowsburg; Breweries, distilleries, and concerts at Bethel Woods are all within easy reach.
Please enjoy and Stay Awhile.
The space
Our charming Catskills escape was built in 1900. It sits on just under three acres with direct access (down the hill) to Beaverdam Creek. The cottage is ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring the Western Catskills. Listen to the creek from the back deck or from the Adirondack chairs around the fire pit, build a fire in the wood burning stove, make smash burgers on the flat top griddle, or hike the short path down to the creek. Always keep your eyes open for bald eagles! The area is full of them. Our favorite is Josie. She lives right down the hill by the river.
The first floor has a remodeled full bathroom with a large shower and heated floors. The upstairs has a half bath.
The bedrooms have two Queen beds with memory foam mattresses. The living room couch is large enough to sleep one if needed. Extra sheets are provided.
Guest access
Guests may use the entire cottage except for the unfinished basement (there’s nothing fun down there) and one of the closets marked “private.” Each room has a full closet with extra sheets and blankets.
The deck, large back yard, and fire pit are available to guests. Cornhole, ring toss, bocce balls and more are in the pantry (please put them back when you’re done).
High speed WiFi extends throughout the cabin. There’s a flatscreen television with a Roku. Bring your own streaming accounts. Roku’s guest mode will log you out automatically.
The flat top griddle on the deck is super fun and easy to use. A spare propane tank is provided. Please note that grill cleaning is not included in the cleaning fee. Guests are asked to scrape and wipe down the griddle top.
Beaverdam Creek is a short downhill hike on a rocky footpath. The shallow stream is ideal for wading or cooling off.
The cabin is a five minute walk from the Delaware River access area.
Other things to note
Please note that the house sits near the country road so you might hear the occasional traffic noise from the front bedroom. White noise machines are available in each bedroom.
Wildlife abounds! We very much enjoy outdoor visits from songbirds, squirrels, deer, foxes and bald eagles. We see the occasional garter snake or mouse in the yard. You’ll likely see a spider or two. A rooster may crow in the distance. Please don’t tempt wildlife into the house by leaving food out or placing garbage bags anywhere but in the bin.
This little cottage cannot accommodate large groups or parties of any kind. Only registered guests are permitted on the premises.
We love your kids, but the space is not child-proof. There are many small grab-able pieces of decor, glassware, table runners and disco balls at prime toddler height. Please use discretion if booking with small children.

About the host
Hosted by Jeremy Bales

We live full-time in Queens, but we're at the cottage any chance we get. The Stay Awhile truly is our home away from home.
What makes this property unique
You'll know it when you get there. Our little cottage has so much character and charm. You could easily spend an entire weekend on the couch with some wine, on the deck listening to the creek, watching the wildlife. It's positioned perfectly between Callicoon and Narrowsburg each of which offer plenty of shopping, dining and activity options. Go for a hike on a trail in Tusten. Go for a quick (or long) run along the Delaware River. Check out the eagle's nest near the bridge. Grab a bite to eat just across the border in Cochecton. The possibilities are endless. We'd be happy to share some of our favorites with you.
