This was our second stay at the Stargazer. We really enjoyed the access to the river, our dog loved it. When the sky cleared at night, the name Stargazer was appropriate. We could see thousands of stars and the Milky Way. We hope to return soon.
We enjoyed our time at the Stargazer. It's an adorable, cozy A-frame. The location was beautiful, and the house was very clean. Our kids enjoyed the game room downstairs, and us adults enjoyed the deck.
We thoroughly enjoyed this cabin stay with our 5 grandsons. Plenty of sleeping room and a great basement for the kids to have their own space! The neighborhood was so peaceful and full of deer that we were able to see daily. We enjoyed riding the Virginia Creeper trail not a far drive from the cabin for renting bikes and the riding adventure. I’m sure our grandsons will choose to stay here again in a heartbeat!

What a gem! We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the deck, watching the deer and scenery. It’s a peaceful retreat in a quiet neighborhood that’s still so close to many activities and restaurants. I felt like I was staying at a friend’s home with the wide assortment of games, comfortable beds and other thoughtful touches.
It’s hard to put into words just how satisfied we were with the property. let me just start by saying my wife cried when it was time to leave. Our bed was very comfortable, and the deck was very inviting and offered beautiful vistas of the river as well as the surrounding mountains. We had other family rent the house down the hill and our kids really enjoyed running back-and-forth between the two. we brought our boat and took advantage of the boat launch in the subdivision, which was very nice. We are in a quieter part of the river so fishing was ideal and we found many good spots. The area is very family-friendly and the week we were there things were not very busy so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. I would definitely recommend and appreciate the hospitality.
Very clean not even cobwebs on the high ceilings! Cozy but spacious. The stairs to the loft bedroom are so neat. Decorated very well. The large new deck has great views of Mtns/lake. We got to hear rain on the metal roof and see lightning bugs in the trees. Host was a fantastic communicator. There is a great list of things to do in the area on the fridge. 3 adults stayed comfortably with our own rooms and there is 2 living rooms. Definitely 5 stars worthy!!
We loved our stay! It was very close to the Watauga trailhead which was a perfect ride for our kids (5, 7, 10) to Abingdon one day and Alvarado Station another. We all enjoyed the available games and the views were amazing! Kids loved the slide. House was clean, well appointed. Melissa responded to our questions immediately and was so helpful in planning our trip! 10/10 recommend this place!
We really enjoyed all the extra details put into this cabin. We wished we had a longer stay to use more of the amenities, such as the grill. The outside firepit was great! Wonderful views from the deck and the cabin is aptly named as the stars were numerous to look at. We enjoyed the nearby state parks and VA Creeper trail. There were many activities we still wished to try in the area and hope to be back!
Stargazer was a great place for us to stay. The main reason for our visit was to bike the Virginia Creeper Trail. One of the trailheads was only 2.5 miles away (Watauga Rd). We were able to utilize this to bike between there and Damascus without hiring someone to shuttle us.
(Several in our group felt this was as beautiful as the Whitetop to Damascus run because of the rolling hills and miles alongside the Middle and South Holston Rivers.)
This was also a great location from which to go fly fishing in the nearby creeks and rivers.
An entertaining part of the location was all of the "tame" deer that browse about the neighborhood. This would be a treat for anyone who hasn't seen wildlife up close.
This house is located in a charming, safe neighborhood with an incredible view from its awesome deck. The house was very clean. The three bedrooms are located on 3 different levels. The kitchen is very small, but has the essentials for making meals. The refrigerator is also small. We were all adults, but noted that the house is very child friendly. There's a slide off the side deck, a swing, lots of games, and children books. We didn't use the firepit or the Blackstone, but they are available to visitors. There's also two interior comfortable sitting areas. Our group was in Abingdon to attend plays at Barter which was just a 15 minute drive. If I had a suggestion for the hostess/owner, it would be to provide some juice size glasses and some wine glasses. I hope this helps future visitors when they're looking for an Abingdon vacation rental. We greatly enjoyed our stay!
If you are looking for rest, relaxation, and a beautiful setting this home will not disappoint. We loved our vacation and much of the reason was this great place. The deck was amazing! The owner was great too!
We booked this fun, unique cabin to ride the creeper trail. The kids loved seeing groups of deer out in the morning and playing on the slide and swing. The fire pit on the deck and a gorgeous view were unbeatable. The house had plenty of space for our family of 5.
This cabin was just perfect for our weekend getaway! It's cozy and has so many nice perks. The view from the deck is gorgeous, and Melissa is a phenomenal host. She provided dinner recommendations and was very communicative. This is a great location for the Creeper Trail. We hope to be back in the future!
This was our first trip to southwest Virginia to explore the state parks in the area as well as downtown Abingdon. This was the perfect location, the house was great, and owner had excellent communication. Our young kids loved the bunk beds, SLIDE!, and all of the games/puzzles at the house. We enjoyed the fire pit, well stocked panty, and so many other nice touches. The only thing I’ll note that as someone who is 6’ 8”, there are some low areas like kitchen, upstairs shower, and stairs. Literally the only thing I could think of but I bump my head all of the time anyway!
The place was amazing. I told my wife it was too nice for us to stay there... lol. Had a nice view of the lake and mountains from pretty much every room in the house. It was also set up to accommodate children of all ages. Would definitely recommend to outhers...
