Perfect north shore location
My 14 year old son and I loved this place. We stayed for three days and it was an excellent base to explore the north shore- plus 5 mins from turtles swimming and resting on the beach. The view is spectacular…absolute beach front. Shelley was a very helpful host. Strongly recommend this place for anyone including families.

Hawaii vacation
We loved the location, it had a lot of room, very adequate parking, and the view of the sunset was awesome. My only complaint was the lack of cooking utensils such as spatula, serving spoons. We had a work around and was able to cook using the out door long handle ones. I would come back again and stay there…thank you for a wonderful memory.

This was our first trip to the North Shore. We absolutely loved the location. Being right on the beach, we took advantage of Chun's surf spot and incredible sunsets. We hope to return sooner than later!

First Post Covid Trip
After having to reschedule our Hawaiian vacation due to the pandemic, I happily found this property on the north shore to rent. It is a lovely property that is right on the water. It is not a beach in front, rather lava rocks but you can walk a short distance to a beach entrance. We stayed on the main level of the house which is split into three units. It was the perfect size for our family of four (two teenagers) plus my parents. There are many fans throughout the home and tons of windows to keep the air flowing. A couple of days were a little hot, but it was June. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, and there are smaller grocery stores in both Haleiwa and north past Waimea. Both bathrooms were recently remodeled and had newer towels. There were beach towels provided and two washer/dryers. The dryer closest to the house did not work correctly (maybe the heating element was out?) but the other one worked fine. There was tons of snorkeling gear provided and boogie boards. We were grateful for the beach umbrella but could have used a few more of the real low beach chairs. Be advised, the location of this house is great. But since we were last on the north shore the traffic has really gotten bad. Allow lots of time to get anywhere between 8am and 7pm. Thanks for a lovely time in a great spot!

Awesome Place
Great beach house. Amazing beach access, fun surf break to the left and right of the house, and lovely views. Even though it’s right off the road, stepping inside and hanging on the porch takes you away from the crowds and the traffic. The teenagers loved the access to the surf and the beach. Close proximity to Waimea Bay, Haleiwa, and Pipeline. We would definitely return! Would definitely retu

North Shore at its Best!
The whole process was so easy! The location cannot be beat! We loved the views and loved the backyard and short walk to the beach. Upon arrival we did have a very specific request for an allergy of one of my guests with me. The property manager was so quick to respond and took our request and resolved it that same day! I would rent this home again in a heartbeat! Thanks so much to Kelly!! You were amazing!! Mahalo!

Turtles everywhere
The downstairs unit was good. A little loud with little feet upstairs but not terrible. We saw 21plus turtles on the small beach. Enough beds for my 4 teenage kids. Washer and dryer for each unit was really helpful. Windows and deck could have been cleaner. Maybe have windex and magic easier for crazy people like me.

Great view
We loved sitting on the back porch and watching the surfers brave the huge waves. Every now and then we would see a humpback whale in the distance. The town close by has lots of restaurants and shops to go to. The house has no AC and that wasn’t a big problem in February but I think it would be a little too warm in the summer to sleep in the back bedroom because some of the windows open up to a stairwell for the basement and not the outside. The cleaning people could be more detailed when it came to the corners of the floors and the base of the windows and there were ants in the master bath sink every morning. Beds were nice, towels were good quality, kitchen was well stocked, and the yard was lovely. Plenty of parking for people above us and ourselves. I would stay there again; you can’t beat the location.

The perfect location!
The house was perfect for our family of five. My kids loved playing on the grass area in front of house. From great surf, sea turtles laying in the sand, sandy beach for relaxing, we couldn’t have asked for a better location. We will definitely be back soon!

North Shore paradise!
What a wonderful experience! Location is ideal - on the water and steps away from an awesome beach. We loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves every night, then waking to see the surfers lined up out in the water. Property owners are kind, generous and very responsive. The nearby town of Haleiwa has restaurants, shops, and the world famous Matsumoto Shave Ice. (Yum!) The unit itself is very comfortable. Don’t expect high-end upgrades; if you want a “resort” experience, stay at the Ritz. But for a family, it has everything you need to relax and just enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Book this property! You won’t regret it. :)

Excellent Vacation Rental
This place was great! Close to the beach, great scenery, and great amenities. My family loved the views and enjoyed making it to the beach everyday. The tide pools which are close were great for the kids. Turtles are everywhere on the beaches and in the ocean. Definitely recommend renting this place because it’s so relaxing.

Well maintained unit and beautiful location!
This is the main floor unit of a 3-unit house. Nicely updated and functional kitchen, with all the amenities you would need. Good sized bedrooms, nice bathroom. Lots of windows overlooking the ocean. The backyard is a great place to sit and watch the surfers. Just down the street is the famous Laniakea Beach, where green turtles hang out. Haleiwa is really close by. Plenty of parking. The only thing I would suggest to management is to install locks on the bedroom and bathroom doors. That was a little annoying. But overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would rent again.

Great Location, Multi-Family Noises
The location is awesome - oceanfront with access to Chuns Reef & fun lava rock climbing to see sea turtles everyday. If it wasn't for the location, I'd rate this place a 2 or 3. It is a bit dated & missing some amenities that would make it better, like lawn chairs & some basic supplies. The place felt a bit grungy - a lot of that is due to being on the ocean, but the windows were very dirty, cookware had food on them from previous renters & there is some TLC needed. We stayed in the middle unit & there were a couple of families that had rented the unit above & below us during our stay. It was extremely noisy with kids running around upstairs - sounded like a stampede. So, just be aware if you are in one of the lower units that the floors are thin in spots. Also, the lawn got a bit noisy at times when other families were using it. The communication with the owners was great & we had no issues. So, if you are looking to stay on the North Shore on the beach, this is a good value. Can't beat the location & we had a great time overall.

Great surf spot
Great location! Beautiful sunsets and clean. Owners where responsive and caring. Only downside is the beds should have been replaced years ago, uncomfortable and noisy. Bring your own toilet paper, paper towels, salt and pepper.

Incredible Northshore Views
We enjoyed our stay very much. As I write this, I’m sitting on the couch watching surfers take on the waves as the sun rises behind us. The views are incredible and location is perfect. We explored the numerous beautiful Northshore beaches, all within 5 - 15 minute drives. We could walk down to Turtle Beach and the beach just east of it, which felt private. After exploring all the beaches, including driving to the windward beaches one day, we liked ours the best. We didn’t really swim in the Northshore beaches, as the waves were too rough for swimming in March. The Kitchen is well stocked and the unit provides plenty of beach towels. There are some chairs and snorkeling gear that other guests have left behind, but you’ll likely have to either rent your own or buy some at Walmart on the way in or at the local Foodland grocery store, which is 5 minutes away. Only issue for our 2nd floor unit is the noise from the 3rd floor. You can hear every step from above, and if they open their windows, their conversations from our bedrooms. We feel it’s a small price to pay for a front row seat to paradise.

Nice, convenient, and enjoyable
The house was very nice, with ample fans to really help provide some cooling. Furniture (beds and living room) were adequately (but not spectacularly) comfortable. Beach equipment was a bit sparse compared to other rentals I've experienced, but otherwise the house was well equipped. The convenience to Chun's reef was great (about 100 yards, I would say), and it was a really nice and uncrowded beach that was larger than it looks on satellite views of maps. It was also really convenient to Haleiwa and reasonably convenient to Waimea Bay and Sunset Beach. And Pipeline - we got to watch one day of the Pipeline Masters, which is exciting even if you don't know much about surfing. The house was reasonably clean, although it had that "vintage" charm of a lot of north-shore houses. One minor downside - there were two pairs of washers/dryers. And it wasn't clear which ones were nicer or meant for each rental unit, although it turned out one dryer had broken door hardware and wouldn't function when we tried to use it (so the 2nd set ended up being useful). Another potential downside if you're easily bothered by noises - in the ground floor unit, I could hear every single footstep of the folks in the upstairs unit, although it wasn't loud enough to actually bother me (nor my other two family members). Those slight cons aside, there were far more pros to this rental in its cuteness and convenience. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay (4 nights) and would definitely recommend it and/or consider staying there again.

Amazing ocean view; a bit rough around the edges
It was pretty much as advertised. I could have gone for a bit more comfort (furniture, lighting, interior finish), but it fits the bill of a beach cottage. And truly why spend much time indoors when outside is so awesome! If you surf (we don't), you can walk in a minute and be paddling out to join the 20 to 30 others enjoying the waves at any time. It's a close drive to Haleiwa for foodies. There were only two of us, but with 3 bedrooms maybe we should have brought the kids.... naw!

Great tropical beachfront cottage for 5
My wife and three kids in their twenties enjoyed the cottage very much. The ocean breezes were great, but we wish the weather was sunnier. Although we overlooked the fact that it was not air-conditioned, we got used to it after the first night. Multiple ceiling and floor fans kept us cool. The Weber BBQ was perfect for barbecuing.

What a great place!
I rather hate writing this review. Not because the place had anything bad about it, but rather because I want to keep it a secret, so it will be available for us again. The most important thing about this property is the view! You are literally steps from the ocean. And with beaches bracketing the house, you are only a two minute walk from either. And the surfers, one morning we counted 32 of them at one time! What a thrill to watch them. And the beach to the north had a sea turtle every afternoon. The house itself was very comfortable. And well appointed. Everything you could ever need is provided. The beds were very nice. The deck was wonderful. If I could change anything, there would be two things. One, the windows are so etched with salt that it’s difficult to see out them well. We tried washing them, but couldn’t get the salt spray off. And two, when the basement apartment runs their ceiling fans, it’s very disturbing. Maybe they are out of balance, but when on they actually shake the floor and walls. But, we hope the owners can fix these issues, because we would love to come back!

Why they chose this property

We chose this home because the beauty, setting, and views were unbelievable. The oceanfront location with great snorkeling and surfing in the 'front yard' was a plus. We also figured our children would enjoy the tide pools in the front.

We liked the Chuns area as it was north of Haleiwa town by 2 miles yet easily accessible. And being more on the southern part of the North Shore meant a little better weather, less traffic, and easier access to town and the airport.

We looked at 62 properties and bought this one.

After all of these years, we're still in awe when we visit. We think that's special given the fact that we are coming from Del Mar, CA.
