My girlfriend and I celebrated my 65th birthday at Casa Estrellita, and we had a fabulous experience. The house is beautiful, well stocked with all essentials (inc bottled drinking water), and has fantastic views of the area. We enjoyed the pool, which also has spectacular views. The host has created an app that can be downloaded on your phone, which has a lot of useful information about the house and the area, which is a nice touch. We don’t understand the other reviews regarding the walk into town. It’s a 12 minute walk, on somewhat uneven surfaces, but the hill isn’t steep. We actually looked forward to our walks into town, and had fun along the way. We’re glad we didn’t rent a golf cart.
This home is beautiful and removed from town, so easy to get away from the hustle and bustle of Sayulita. Would recommend a golf cart to get to and from town easily, which also makes getting to the many private beaches nearby easier! The pool area was incredible!! The garden around the pool is such a beautiful oasis and we were lucky enough to not have to share with other guests since the other rental wasn’t booked. The host was so responsive and helpful during our stay. Would recommend!!
My wife and I stayed here for our visit and it was amazing. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and communicated well. The home itself is perfect for a couple, and it has a great kitchen. It's a bit isolated from the action, but that's just what we were looking for. It has a nice pool and great views. Only thing to be aware of that it's up a pretty steep hill and a bit of a walk. Not bad, but just be aware if you have mobility issues (but, you can always rent a golf cart).
I'm almost hesitant to leave this stellar review because I want to make sure it's available when I want to come back :) It's truly a gem of a Sayulita home and the hosts are the best!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Private setting, not so nice road.
We really enjoyed the poo rivate setting of this location. The owners were very responsive and the guidbook phone app thatvthey have developed is very convenient and thorough. The interior is far more stark than we anticipated (not even one bedside lamp on either side of the bed) and the building doesn't capitalize on the view potential (ie, the small sundeck is on the roadside). The major drawback is that the dirt road to access the property is very narrow and filled with ruts and potholes. You almost need an SUV to get there. The pool is solar "heated" and too chilly to lounge in. There's no walking into town, especially in the dark, so be prepared to drive on an uncomfortable road any time you want to do something.
We loved our stay at Casa Estrellita. The casa was comfortable and quiet. The pool was relaxing with an amazing view, including whales spouting in the distance. We enjoyed finding various ways to beaches and town, and the headlamps we brought were perfect for walks back at night. Everything was as pictured.

100% as advertised
I think that as important as the location and cleanliness of a rental is the responsiveness of the owners/managers. AnnMarie and Isaac were perfect in that regard. Accommodating friendly and fast. They even followed up to make sure everything was going well.
The rental was perfect for us. We were uncertain about the location initially- as the distance by road is a little far from town. If you are comfortable walking maybe 25 yards down a hillside without stairs, however, you are almost directly behind the path to playa Los muertos. It’s maybe 5 minutes to the main part of the town. It never felt far at all, and given that casa Estrella is directly next to one of the most distinctive rooftops in Sayulita (the one with the blue cupola) it’s got amazing dramatic views of the entire bay.
The pool was our favorite part, perhaps made better because there was no one to share it with this week. Seriously, it’s a stunning location- peaceful and serene.
All-in-all- Casa Estrella was a great place to spend a week. The location was superb, and the hosts were responsive and friendly. Unless you are uncomfortable/unable walking down a hillside- this is place is perfect for you.

Quaint home on the hill
We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Estrillita. The home was clean with all the amenities you could want or need. It’s quiet, being far enough out of town while still being close enough to walk there. If you’re adventurous and are okay walking a short trail up or down the hill, the town is about 7 minutes walk and playa los muertos is about 4 minutes away. The cab ride in from the airport was a bit of a challenge because to get to the house by car isnt straight forward, there aren’t road signs that are obvious so you’re guiding by landmarks. The view from the pool is amazing! AnnMarie was very responsive to any requests or questions that we had and was an excellent host.

Clean good housekeeping , towels , good response from management, good hot water and comfortable bed
Nice hotel like space with well equipped kitchen. No railing on steep outside staircase was a concern to us as senior citizens. Since our daughters and families were both here in larger rentals with big pools we spent very little time here during the day. Trying to find the place in golf cart in the dark the first night was a bit traumatic but kind locals guided us to our Casa.

Great peaceful stay
House was nice and had every thing we needed. Pool made the trip, just wish it was private to this house and not shared w one other house. The lady and gentleman taking care of/cleaning the home were very unobtrusive.

Gorgeous views of the beach, Plenty of privacy at the pool.. we saw our neighbors only once! we loved the birds which surrounded our balcony each day, green parrots and all. found short cuts to town, beaches and shops. kitchen had all we needed. shop for the fresh fish, visit the great family on Playa muertos for shrimp and the most delicious sauce i have every had!. Beach chairs would be a good addition, try to buy some on the way into town to save money. Owners were FABULOUS.. attended to all of or questions with in minutes..POOL WAS WARM...

Meh
Meh, for a couple just stay at the villa amor complex. Pictures are old, pool is cold but nice and balcony is useless. I've stayed at 6 homes over the years, it's a 3 star.

Awesome view from the pool area!
House is very secluded, short walk from the beach/town. Much easier walk when the stairs are open to the beach! House was exactly as described, view from the pool is much better than the pictures, it's incredible. No loud noises from the beach/town, only the sounds of the jungle. Great communication with AnnMarie, highly recommended home!

BEST VRBO Experience we have ever had ... Book this place.
As someone who has been in the luxury boutique hotel world most of her career, a special place is not about the sheet count or the soap in the bathroom, it is about how you are treated and the location.
Estrella de Mar has these two figured out... the place is within easy walking distance to busy Sayulita, but, you feel like you are away from it all. We stayed in Marita and the views of the ocean, butterflies, birds and the pool were just fantastic.
Also while we were there as can happen, there was a mechanical problem and the owners found a solution within minutes which does not always happen in Mexico and we continued with our vacation. Thank you Ann Marie for your professionalism and for being the best VRBO owner we have ever dealt with ... we will be back ! L & K

Cool House, Amazing Owners
We just returned from a week's stay at Estrella/Marita. Absolutely love Marita. Great set-up, amenities, pool, views, location - the whole enchilada. Perhaps the most exemplary aspect of this rental was the owners. Anne Marie was incredibly responsiveness to any/all concerns - before, during, and after - cannot say enough, huge kudos! The location up high affords the highest degree of privacy and solitude. The constant soothing sounds of surf and birds made for a sublime hilltop experience. Several options (and shortcuts) to town and beach(s) revealed themselves - the proximity up and away from the fray was well worth the short walks. A return to Sayulita will mean a return to Marita, for sure.

Amazing home with incredible views!
We have been to Sayulita a couple of times over the past several years so we were looking for something a little different this time. An acquaintance recommended Casa Estrellita and, after viewing their photos, we decided to go ahead. We were so glad we did! The property was even better in person. Super clean with all the comforts and a fantastic kitchen to cook in! Big windows in every direction with views of the ocean or looking out over the green hills. The owners took great care of us from start to finish and were extremely flexible to help us out with our early arrival. The home itself is a really nice piece of architecture and a standout in the town. The view from the pool is so amazing that we found ourselves drawn to the pool more often than the beach. We will definitely be back for our next visit to Sayulita! Thank you so much!

What a beautiful and peaceful spot.
We came to Sayulita for the first time for a friends wedding, and wanted to find a place to relax and unwind. Casa Estrellita was the perfect getaway. Just a short walk from the busy center of town, we were in a completely different world. Surrounded by lush jungle and expansive ocean views we spent a whole lot of our trip just staring out over all of it from the infinity pool. We were even lucky enough to see a pod of whales passing by out in the distance! The home is inspiring to be in with its simple, clean modern lines and high ceilings. It is also just great to live in with comfy beds and a big kitchen stocked with everything you need to prepare the fresh fish and vegetables available in town. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive taking the time to answer a number of questions we had about our first trip to Mexico and even sent us a list of their personal recommendations in and and around the town We hope to make it back again one day soon, we are missing it already.

The Perfect Spot for an Amazing Vacation
Wow, Casa Estrellita was everything we'd hoped for and more!!! Sure, the listing looked great, I thought, but the chances of it actually looking as good in person as it did on my computer? Slim at best, I figured. I was dead wrong.
The house and pool look exactly like the pics, AnnMarie was quick and extremely descriptive in getting back to me to answer questions leading up to our stay, and the welcome packet she emails to those staying at the Casa literally plans your trip to Sayulita!
It. Was. Heaven. My wife and I were looking for a relaxing, drop-out vacation and we got just that. We can't wait to go back!
Our fave things: Taking a morning walk down the Villa Amor stairs into town. Ceviche and beers on the patio at El Consteno. Picking up Tacos El-Ivan and heading back to the Casa to watch the sun set from the foot of the bed. Spending the afternoon at Playa de Los Muertos and enjoying the fresh mahi-mahi and shrimp skewers sold by an adorable family at the beach entrance. And, of course, soaking up the sun at the absolutely gorgeous Casa pool!
Our only regret: Forgetting the bug spray and itch cream! The Casa is in the jungle, so come prepared. Or you can just drink lots of tequila. That seemed to help us forget about the need to itch ;)

3 minutes away
3 minutes of my morning normally consist of me slugging a $5 coffee while sifting through dozens of emails sent since I last checked at around midnight last night, 1/3rd of which are marked "Important", having time to answer only 2 or 3 before the phone starts ringing and I have to start putting out today's fires.
In 3 minutes here, I've seen a family of "Chachalacas" eating berries from the tree outside my bedroom window, 2 different types of butterflies feed off the flowers in the garden below the terrace, a flock of small parrots swoop by like a fast-moving cloud, and 2 pileated woodpeckers making lazy work of the nearby coconut palm, all while gazing out at the sprawl of ocean before me, listening to the rhythm and drinking the best cup of coffee I have ever had in my life.
Gracias!

We discovered Sayulita in 2002, on our honeymoon. We returned a few months later and bought our land in the perfect spot, just close enough and just far enough from the center of town. We dreamed and planned and designed for the next few years until we finished our two casitas in 2010--one for us and one for our family and friends.
We split our time between Sayulita and New Orleans. We are so happy to be able to share this magical place with you.
Why they chose this property
Retreat yourself to a private 2-story loft set high on a hill where the ocean meets the jungle. A soaring ceiling and lots of windows offer views that purposely frame the best sights and still retain complete privacy.
As minimalists, we designed this space to provide everything that you need and nothing that you don't. We furnished the place with beautiful mid-century pieces that show the loving patina of time.
The private terrace is ample enough to stretch out and catch some sun on the lounge chairs or enjoy your local food finds as you dine al fresco.
Enjoy the soft patter of the rain showerhead under the fold-over bathroom skylight with nothing but jungle in sight for acres and acres.
What makes this property unique
Casa Estrellita is a private stand-alone house within a larger estate that holds one other home. The infinity pool is shared equally between our two homes and it is the only communal aspect to the property. The pool area is totally separate and it has its own separate entrance. You may never run into the other guests or you may just make some new friends.
