About the host
Hosted by Elizabeth Cockrill

I've lived in the Roaring Fork Valley since 1993, and absolutely love the peaceful location of Basalt. My husband, Dan, and I have a place nearby in Redstone, CO, so we are usually nearby if you need us. I have 4 children who are scattered around the US, and I stay busy visiting and keeping tabs on them. I also have a dog, Kona, and a cat, Theo, who you may get a chance to meet. Although Basalt is a rural town, it's only 25 minutes from Aspen and Snowmass Village, 15 minutes from Carbondale, and 30 minutes from Glenwood Springs, so it's not too hard to get supplies or go out for a fun evening. I love natural hot springs, and there are several to choose from around here. I also love traveling, so when I need my city, beach or far-flung country fix, I'm outta here! Renting out my house is the perfect solution for me, as I can let others enjoy the beauty of this area when I'm away.
Why they chose this property
The location is ideal for many pursuits. It's very peaceful and quiet, allowing for much privacy. The views from the decks are stupendous, and you will most likely have incredible sunsets and views of the Roaring Fork Valley every day. There is also an abundance of wildlife which wanders into the back yard. Deer and squirrels are common, but occasionally you will get a glimpse of bears and cubs. This location is also ideal for activities like hiking, cycling, rafting skiing, paddleboarding, and soaking in hot springs!
What makes this property unique
The house is not only cozy and comfortable, but the outdoor spaces are incredible as well. There is an expansive upper deck off of the kitchen and dining area, a spiral staircase down to the back yard and yet another deck to get even better views of the valley. This deck is special to me since I was actually married on this deck! I hope you'll find it special too.
Walking into town is also easy and convenient. Walk back up the driveway, take a left, and find the path with stairs that lead down the hill. There is a handrail, so you can feel safe handling these stairs. Head down the gravel alleyway towards the street, and hang a left when you get to the paved street. Keep an eye out for the next pathway with stairs on your right, which will take you right into the heart of town, where you can find shops and restaurants. The walk will take about 10 minutes. Enjoy!
