We all had a great stay! It's an old house with a few quirks, but the property owner and manager were AMAZING to work with! There are several stairs, which I didn't realize when booking, but it didn't limit our fun or experience. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it!

The beds were comfortable
The property manager contacted us as expected and check in was easy. Inside and outside, the home was nothing as advertised. Nails sticking out of the walls, dishwasher not attached so it falls out when you pull out the rack; old cars, broken chairs, lawnmowers, old pool, old jacuzzi, a winebego, a boat and toilet seat all strewn around the yard. Also, the water was brown and undrinkable and the kitchen was woefully under-stocked. While the beds were comfortable, the one we slept in had no top sheet! The website photos are not a true depiction of what the property looks like.
This really a big house, clean, overview of the York River from the back deck.
This is really a big house, clean, overview of the York River from the back deck, huge deck. Jennifer was really accommodating, I really like the bathrooms, they had 16-inch handicap toilet, each room had new beds and they were king's size. Really enjoyed it, we be back in July for sure, Thanks, Jennifer.
This property would be a five star stay with a few upgrades and renovations. Beds slept well and were very clean. Location was ideal if going to Busch Gardens/Williamsburg. Only real “issue” with the house was the backyard…it is listed as having cars and tools, but there is far more than that back there. It was somewhat of an eyesore when sitting on the back deck. Biggest surprise of the stay was the cake and balloons set out for my birthday when we opened the door! Jennifer was a great host and very responsive to any questions I had. Thank you for having us!
We set out looking for a large house close to Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown that would house our group of 9 family style. This house fit our needs and was more than comfortable. It’s near all the major tourist stops (I highly recommend every stop in the Historic Triangle). Sadly the pool was not holding water well so it was unable to be used by our youngest kids - it’s not really large enough for the whole family and seemed to have been out of commission for a bit. The house is definitely quirky and full of big diy energy - But during our stay it came to feel like home as we neared it each evening. The overall size and price and location make this an ideal getaway spot.
This property is misrepresented. The house is a mess there is water damage and mold that someone painted repeatedly to try to cover. The furniture is beat up, the bedding is dirty and wasn't clean prior to arrival. This property does not follow proper sanitation practices. The intake for the HVAC cover was covered in filth. The water smelled like sewage and it appeared to be pee in the toilet or that's the water quality. Within a few minutes of arrival the guests knew there was no way they would be staying there. Jennifer the owner stated nothing is wrong with the place. No effort to correct anything and she stated I wish you would just leave. Then proceeded to deactivate the access code. She has been asked to refund the money of the rental but has not. We are seeking legal action against her. Renter beware of this property and the owner.
We got there about 5pm, left by 7pm. My daughter and daughter in law started checking the mattresses for bed bugs (something we do everywhere we stay). What we found was much worse. The mattresses looked like they came from the dump. They were so stained and dirty, dead bugs, hair and rodent droppings on the mattress in upstairs bedroom. These mattresses are a health hazard and new mattress pads won't help. My granddaughter put her backpack on downstairs bed and it collapsed to the floor. Cabinet in living room was empty except for layers of dust and rodent droppings.Trash was left on top of dryer and in a chair. Outlets in kitchen were not working and some outlets throughout the house had exposed wiring and no plate/covers. Poison ivy was growing on the front porch in areas designated for renters. Pool was not usable and was obvious it had been a longer time than I had been led to believe. The designated "office" area was full of baby gear. A pack and play and changing table were set up and fully stocked, just missing the baby! My youngest grandchild is 9 years old so I know this was not set up for us. Obviously someone was staying there and hurriedly vacated in time for our check in. We immediately began looking for alternate lodgings and I have pics, video and the messages with VRBO to back up my statements. Jennifer offered to send her maintenance man out but unless he was bringing 5 new mattresses his coming out was futile.
The stay was horrible. We walked into what we thought was going to be comfortable and was the most uncomfortable house I have ever stayed at. The kitchen sink was full of dead knats, it was dirty underwear behind a bedroom door, the water smelled like sewer and a rotten eggs, it was a bug in one of the beds upstairs, and mosquitoes all in the house. It was spacious and the idea was nice however all the stuff listed above made it the trip from hell. We sat up calling hotels all night to see if we could stay somewhere else but everything was sold out. So no one went to sleep and we stayed up in the living room all night just waiting for the next day to drive back to DC. I sent pictures to the owner of everything except for the smell and she called me a liar and I still have all the messages and pictures to prove it. The only reason I gave 2 stars because while staying up all night we had some great conversations that brought the group closer and we made the best out of the time we had together. But trust me don’t book there if you’re expecting anything different because the problems we had didn’t just so happen to be that weekend.
PS I’m writing this a month later because I was mad and upset and needed to calm down before I wrote a review. I didn’t want to be disrespectful or rude.
We chose this house because of the number of bedrooms and proximity to Williamsburg. New toiletry items were provided which was nice. The back deck is spacious with wonderful views. This is the only positive thing about this property.
The two rooms upstairs were unusable as the window units installed have large gaps around them, not allowing the window to be closed to cold weather outside. No fixtures or appliances were cleaned properly. There are smears across the refrigerator and hard water stains on the water dispenser. The microwave has a broken keypad face with the electrical board and exposed wiring. There is a non-functional washer and dryer set in the utility room full of clothes and spider webs. There is a functional set but the dryer is vented directly into the utility room. The property appears to be a junkyard. There are security cameras listed in the back of the home. All outdoor space is being monitored. VRBO policy is to disclose all camera locations and several cameras are not listed.
The home is on well water. The water smells worse than any well water I've ever smelled. We used bottled water for everything the entire trip. The glass door in the main bedroom can be opened, even while locked. Doors inside don’t close properly. There are half torn off stickers left on windows/doors and the house looks unfinished.
Heed the negative reviews. We made the best of a bad situation. With some repairs and care, this could be a wonderful property.
