Host told me apt unavailable 5-min AFTER check-in time
I never stayed in this property. I showed up to the bar at 4pm to receive the key and the bar didn't have it.
The bar also didn't actually know who the host was. They said that someone random handles the keys. They have no idea about the apartments this host rents out.
The bar said to wait until the host's representative comes in.
It's 4:05pm and I message the host.
All he replied was "Hello, Unfortunately the calendar didn’t sincronize. This appartment is already take"
That's it. This was during the busiest week Lyon as ever had. My spouse and I were stranded for 7 hours without a place to stay. All other lodging options were $700/night minimum.
We exchanged a few more messages and he took zero responsibility. He blamed it on a "system error" and said it wasn't his fault.
This host obviously lists the same apartment on multiple websites - OR he purposefully gave the apartment to someone else who was willing to pay more money.
It took 6 hours of chat and phone support with VRBO to secure a stay. I didn't get into a hotel until 11:30 PM.
On top of that, this host never cancelled my booking. He has received my money.
It's also absurd that he has a 4:00 PM check-in time. That is insanely late.
Do not stay here. This host is not legitimate.
