Peaceful Paradise
When my sister and I walked into this cozy, beautifully decorated home, we immediately knew it was going to be a special week. Just sitting on the back deck, watching the lemon pie-colored butterflies, monarchs, dragonflies, pelicans, herons, egrets and other sea birds.......such a feeling of complete peace enveloped us. It was like someone had hit the mute button on life....the only sounds were the sounds of the birds and the distant sound of the ocean. Every morning, a brisk 7 minute walk brought me to the ocean's edge, where I watched the sunrise, feeling as if I were in a live watercolor in progress. When walking between the dunes behind the house, my sister and I discovered thousands of tiny seashells,bringing back childhood memories of summers on the shores of Lake Michigan. The stretch of beach on the inlet just past the sign proclaiming "No trucks beyond this point" was our favorite, because it was deserted and made us feel as if we truly had our own private beach. We loved just sitting there in the sun, watching those amazing blue topaz colored waves, watching the pelicans diving for dinner, seeing hundreds of birds sitting together in comically organized groupings, and even seeing a pod of dolphins very close to the shore. Thank you, Faye, for sharing your magical home with us and for truly being such a delightful, warm,caring person. It was a week we will never forget.
