About this property

The Houseboat @ The Cottages on Petite Lake

Can you picture yourself waking up to a gorgeous sunrise and falling asleep to the sound of the water gently brushing against the pontoon? If so, look no further! This unique experience is perfect for solo trip, a best friend getaway, or a couple's retreat.

This is an experience many would call "glamping", or glamorous camping. Please read the listing thoroughly to understand the layout of the boat, bathrooms and accessibility. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like clarification. This is an experience for the laidback and adventurous!

*We are in nature. Expect spiders, webs, ants, bees, mosquitoes or other usual lake house critters. You'll see lots of chipmunks, squirrels and bunnies around and wake up to the birds chirping, too!

*The beach is accessed by a large set of outdoor stairs- about 35. See photos for reference.

*There are security cameras on the parking lot, beach and piers for safety and rental boat purposes. No cameras are on/in any of the rental units or outdoor yard spaces.

*The pier is made up of floating docks and can be wobbly when the lake is busy. The lake is very busy on the weekends and more calm on weekdays.

*This is a no pets property. Any reviews that reference pets are for a property we no longer rent.

Houseboat

I didn’t stay on the houseboat we left and got a room. There was no running water or bathroom on the boat. The toilet and shower was a distance away. This is something that should be disclosed on VRBO site just so people can be aware of conditions. The water was very choppy and we were unable to relax too much noise from boat hitting against the dock I guess that’s what we heard. I expected some movement but it was wayyyy too much.

Sandy feet. Boating. Bonfires. Fishing. Lazy summer days. Picnics. Simple and charming cottages. A return to the family vacation old-school style. A peaceful pause in today’s chaotic world. This is the our vision for The Cottages on Petite Lake, and it has quickly become a family affair.

On any given day, you’ll find David and his daughter, Jessica, deep in the work of renovating the property to restore the quirky, charming cottages that were built in the early 1900s. Seven have been fixed up so far including the houseboat, a tiny house, the big lodge, the yacht and three other cottages. More to come in the near future!

A labor of love, The Cottages on Petite Lake is the Chiesa family’s desire to serve the community by providing a retreat from the busy world we live in so guests can connect with themselves and each other while enjoying the outdoors.

Located on Petite Lake, this adorable house is on the Cottages on Petite Lake property with access to boats, swimming, fishing, and beautiful morning sunrises.

Each cottage has a private fire pit, propane grill (we provide the gas!), and outdoor sitting and dining space. We have firewood available for delivery (cash, Zelle or Venmo accepted) or you can bring your own!

We have kayaks, paddle boards, a floating picnic table, water hammocks, floats and beach toys available (free - first come first serve). There is also a picnic area and fun community feel! The beach is private to the cottages on the property.
