About the host
Hosted by FELISE DE NOVO

I'm a single mom to my adult son and my faithful companion, Nova. She and I are on a quest to travel all over Europe in 2023. I am a mental health therapist by day and Salsa Dancer by night. I see most of my counseling clients online but child clients were seen here in person, which explains many of the games and the jungle gym.
I've lived in S.A. almost all of my life, so I'm pretty familiar with it. S.A. has gotten much more beautiful and exciting in the last 15 or so. I am proud to call S.A., and this little Craftsman cottage my home.
I bought this little bungalow when I was 27 and in graduate school. At the time, it was an abandoned, skeletal HUD home without plumbing, fixtures, and sheetrock. It needed a new roof, foundation, floors, electrical re-wiring, and air conditioning just to make it habitable. Gradually, as I could afford it, I transformed this house into the cozy home you see now. In 2025, it will be eligible for historic designation.

Why they chose this property
This little house caught my eye because of its unique character. Someone had begun to painstakingly incorporate character with the crown moldings, custom trim, built-in furnishings, stained glass, and French doors....
and location, location, location.
Being just 2 miles from downtown makes touring a breeze. Oftentimes, I will take Nova touring in her doggie stroller pulled by me E-bike. McCullough Ave. and S. Flores St. are the safest with their bike lanes. The bus is ideal during major holidays, like Fiesta, and it passes by San Pedro, just 2 blocks away. Since everything is so close, taking rideshare like Uber is inexpensive.

What makes this property unique
We are in a Neighborhood Conservation District called Alta Vista, a trendy area with the historic district, Monte Vista, just 1 1/2 blocks away (crossing San Pedro Ave.). We are just a bike ride away from Brackenridge Park, The S.A. Zoo, The Sunken Garden Theater, San Pedro Springs Park, The Witte Museum, The S.A. Museum of Art, The Botanical Garden, and of course, everything downtown.
If you're traveling with kiddos, they'll like the playground in my backyard and toy tree house in the dining room. There are plenty of board games to pass the time, if you decide to stay in. Enjoy the fully-equipped kitchen, which was just remodeled. Please bake so I can justify my investment LOL
Since this is a small house (about 1400 sq. ft.), I have tried to make good use of the floorplan. That explains the murphy & trundle beds, the wall-mounted TVs, and the utility room with doggie shower.
Dogs love my home because they have freedom to enter and exit at will, the ample yard, and because of the peek-through windows in the fence.
There's a smart TV on the back porch so no one can claim to find working out boring- okay- that's probably just me : )
The screened-in front porch is a comfortable little spot to take in some fresh air while the kids play with the board games in the toybox.
