About this property

Stay at Palm Island Resort, located on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast, is the state’s only true-out island resort. No bridges or causeways to the island exsist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting. The island resort encompasses a two-mile portion of private, pristine beaches on the northern end of Palm Island. Guests travel to the island via car ferry and park their car in our island parking area. Transportation is provided by our bell staff and golf carts are also available for rent for registered guests.
Enjoy access to one of the 5 heated pools, plus hot tub and gas BBQ grills at each pool area. 11 hard tennis courts available for play and always complimentary. Our recreation center, Coconuts, offers a variety of rentals to include golf carts, bicycles, kayaks and beach umbrellas. Our full service concierge can also arrange for everything from massages to fishing charters. Be sure to catch a Pirate Show with the resort’s own Red Beard the Pirate. Join a complimentary water aerobics class, nature walk or yoga on the beach when scheduled. Relaxing Summer Get Away

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our first visit to Palm Island was 25 years ago and we have been coming back ever since! The villas and grounds are well kept and clean. Everyone who works on Palm Island are helpful and friendly and allowed me to have the vacation we wanted to have. We love the quiet atmosphere and access to the beautiful, uncrowded beach. My husband loves the fishing and I enjoy searching for sharks teeth. It is the perfect place to just get away and relax!!

Very dated for the price

Loved the painting items on the deck that had been there for some time it looked like. Both nights the restaurant didn't have a menu item. Won't be back. Beautiful place for a nice resort.

It has the best beach and amenities. The only downfall is that things are really quiet really early. I'm no party animal but would enjoy using the pool or hot tub past dusk. Great for a group. This was our 2nd trip to the island, this rental had less as far as games, cards, etc. That might be nice to know so you can plan what to bring for entertainment.

The only negative which could not be controlled was the red tide which had everyone coughing and left dead fish on the beach. This was happening all down the west coast not just Palm Is. Just nature.

It was the most relaxing week, the beach is beautiful, the sunsets are extraordinary, the resort staff makes your stay extremely comfortable. My husband and I stayed on Palm island for our anniversary and truly had the best week ever. We opted to rent bicycles instead of a golf cart and had a great time exploring the island! It is a beautiful resort....if you are looking for relaxation look no further this is the place!

My girlfriend has been coming there for 10 years but this was my first time. She was slightly disappointed with our room, saying it was more outdated than some of the others she has stayed in not to mention the entire room along with the furniture smelled like cigerette smoke. Other than that the stay was fantastic. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful.

It was a beautiful, restful resort between Ft. Myers and Venice near Part Charlotte we enjoyed our beautiful condo, the shell-laden beach, the fitness center, and the activities that were available. Had a great time kayaking the mangrove trail with Kris who was very knowledgeable about the history, animals and the ecosystem of this true barrier island. We will be back!

Wonderful mid-September visit

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to Palm Island for almost 25 years, but had never visited during September until this year. We were on the island for five days and it was wonderfully quiet and relaxing. The beach is never crowded, but during our stay we enjoyed having it almost completely to ourselves on weekdays. The weather was great, with only the expected amount of rain, and mostly gorgeous sunny days with highs in the eighties. The property we rented for this stay was up to the usual high standards we expect when we stay at Palm Island, and the staff were friendly and helpful, again, as always. We love visiting Palm Island and will be back again!

The resort property is beautiful, great activities available, beach unbeatable. Rum Bay Restaurant is consistently good, and very reasonably priced. We have been to Palm Island Resort multiple times and always have a wonderful time. The only reason we are not giving our stay this time all '5 stars' is that the 1-bedroom unit we were in is just 'worn out'. It is looking shabby, especially the bathroom. The wallpaper was peeling off the wall, the plates on the knobs of the sink, tub/shower all fell off, the sink faucet was almost impossible to pull up/on. The bathroom just has a very dated, worn out look to it. The bed mattress sags in the middle. The unit just 'needs a facelift'. That said, everything was certainly clean, but the shabbiness in the bathroom made it feel 'kinda gross'. We had a great time, despite these few things!! We highly recommend Palm Island Resort!!!

Less than ideal start to a great vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We’ve been to Palm Island Resort several times before this visit and always enjoyed our stay. This visit represents a first for us as we’re staying a full two weeks. When we arrived in our unit on Saturday, we felt the accommodations were adequate, but definitely in need of some attention. The wallpaper was peeling in a few places, the carpet was a bit worn and the furnishings were showing their age ... or at least noticeable wear. Over the next 24 hours though, our initial impressions went from dubious to worse as what was initially noticed as a faint odor seemed to grow to the point that we decided something had to be done, or our two-week vacation was going to be spoiled by this development. We called the resort office and explained our concerns, expressing our desire to have the carpet cleaned. Instead, the office offered to move us to a different unit. We eventually agreed, and, within a couple of hours, had re-packed everything and moved a few buildings down the road, with the help of one of the resort’s very helpful bellmen. The unit we are now in is far and away better than the previous unit. The carpets are clean and in great shape as are the furnishings. Most importantly ... no more bad odor. In fact everything smelled fresh and clean. So, moral of the story is that each of these units is privately owned and, unless you have first-hand experience, or a trusted recommendation, the quality of the unit you get is a hit-or-miss situation. Thankfully, the resort management seems very willing to accommodate reasonable requests and have certainly satisfied us!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was my 4th visit to Palm Island Resort. I tried to book a 'superior' beach villa but could only get 'deluxe'. It was not well-named! The décor of kitchen and bathroom was still from 1980's and wallpaper was peeling. We complained and they just said they would tell the owners. Also resort staff gave no assistance with sourcing local activities 'Here's a list - go call them yourself.' was what the Recreation Manager said when we asked her about boat trips, fishing, restaurants - everything! Apart from that the resort was just as quiet and beautiful as we remembered with just as many shells, birds and flowers.
