Really can’t say enough good things.Highly recommend. The home is tucked away yet easily accessible off state and interstate highways. It was more space than the two of us required, but we purposely chose it for the beautiful view from the side yard. We loved relaxing there with the fire pit and gazing at the fall colors in front of us. Clear and thorough communication from owner.
Hosts are very helpful and accommodating!

Books, games and puzzles on premise.
We really enjoyed the stay!
Thank you,

The house is lovely, the view is amazing, the host communicated really well. We are a picky group of people and we all really liked it. And the grounds are fabulous.
My partner and I had a great stay here in Vermont. Lots of rentals can feel a bit sterile and cookie cutter but you can tell this is a family vacation home that's lived in and loved. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals, there were lots of extra bedding and throw blankets to cozy up with, lots of boardgames and cable TV.
It ended up being too warm for a fire but I appreciate that they had a wood fireplace and plenty of wood if we'd wanted to use it.
Michael was extremely communicative and helpful. We were even offered kale, apples, and pears from the garden (all that's in bloom in late October).
We especially appreciated that they allowed us to bring along our fur babies. Not every vacation is right for pets, but for what we were looking for -- a quiet couple days to rest and indulge in some reading and relaxing -- bringing our pets just made it so much cozier and homier for us.
I'd be happy to stay here again.
The house faces east and catches the sun rising. It's towards the farther end of a dirt road, with neighbors generously spaced along the way. I loved discovering the Spinnery, where I picked up some of their yarn to make a cardigan for my daughter, I loved the local hard cider, and getting some delicious cheese at Vermont Shepard. My son-in-law enjoyed getting out on his bike and riding miles through the country. All-in-all exactly the kind of quiet get away we were looking for.
This was our second stay at this property in Putney. You can see our review from 2019 below. The location is key - if you want privacy and the ambience of a small New England village, it's hard to top Putney. There isn't much more in Putney besides a general store, a food co-op and a great little diner. So if you're are looking for that type of stay, you have found it here. That being said - there are more shopping (food and otherwise) opportunities a short drive either north or south on I-91. Michael our host was very helpful when there was a propane delivery mix-up and we literally ran out of gas. He did all he could to make it right and even offered to buy us dinner in Brattleboro. Fortunately, the issue was resolved with very little inconvenience. I did mark the property down to 4 stars for cleanliness. This were for two reasons (1) the gas stove really needs a good cleaning especially on top in the burner area. (2) The owner has chosen to allow the back yard area to "grow wild" with most of the large grassy area now taken over by golden rod and milk weed. I understand there may be reasons for this - sustainability, habitat for pollinators and other wildlife and of course the cost of maintaining a wholly grass area. However, during our last visit we were able to observe a visit by a pair of deer to nearby apple trees. This time it was virtually impossible to observe any wildlife except for the occasional squirrel or rabbit. Perhaps a middle way could be found with an area in the middle of the lawn remaining natural and the surrounding area maintained. A word about recycling - we attempted to use the county drop off site in Brattleboro. However, when we were asked by the attendant if we were residents, we had to tell him "no". He told us we could use the facility with the purchase of a $15 day pass which we declined. Your best bet is the use the bins at the Putney Food Co-op.
The house is spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. The views down to the valley and the Connecticut River are spectacular, especially in the very early morning at sunset with the clouds down below over the river.
First off it is CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!! Always a major plus. Kitchen was well equipped with cooking utensils, pots and pans. The fridge was completely empty and spotless! So easy to load your food in and make sure when you left it was just as clean too! Set of empty cupboards for your dry goods to make sure you weren’t living out of bags. Same goes for the bedrooms. Awesome to be able to put away clothes and not live out of suitcases. Beds were comfy and family room very cozy and welcoming. Great communication with owners. And finally the best sledding hill in the backyard. Not too steep (but still a workout climbing back up!) but a great long, fast ride. Thank you so much for your fabulous place and we hope to return again next year!
We had a wonderful view of the mountains and the home was very clean, cozy and comfortable. This is our 2nd time renting at this location and we will use again if we visit this area in the future.
My family and I enjoyed a relaxing week in the Putney house. We didn't venture around the area other than to do some hiking along the Windmill ridge trail. Otherwise, we enjoyed the fireplace, cooked in the well-equipped kitchen and relaxed on the porches. We were doing some work remotely and both of our teenagers were doing remote school so the fast internet was also very helpful.
The house was perfect for the relaxing getaway we had hiking and enjoying nature. It was nice to sit and catch the sunset, look at the stars and prepare meals in the kitchen. The space was clean and comfy. The host was the easiest to communicate and made sure all things were safe as well during these times. We had prompt communication with Michael.
We had a wonderful stay in Michael and Rebecca’s home. It is a beautiful home with gorgeous views! The house is even more beautiful than the photos depict. The living room was cozy and we loved the fireplace. The kitchen was well equipped, and the dining room was bright and cheerful. Each bedroom was tastefully decorated and the beds were very comfortable. It was the perfect spot for our weekend getaway!
The property was as advertised - a bucolic location with a magnificent view of the daily sunrises and the Connecticut River Valley. Within a few minutes drive of the charming town of Putney where staples can be purchased at the Putney General Store or the Food Co-op. Also the Putney Diner where my wife and I enjoyed several delicious breakfasts. For more extensive shopping, Brattleboro is an easy drive down I-91. The rental home was clean and well maintained with room enough for a family. Surrounding property contained a vegetable garden from which the caretaker provided ingredients for a delicious salad. Also pear and apple trees which attracted some deer as well as a flock of wild turkeys. If you are seeking a quiet, relaxing stay in beautiful Vermont, this property is perfect.
The home is in a beautiful spot overlooking the mountains and the gardener provided us with amazing greens for salad when we arrived. It is a perfect place for total rest and relaxation. If you are looking for night life and excitement this would not be the right location for you.
Best suited for late summer, fall, or winter. In the month of June the black flies and mosquitoes are quite bad making it uncomfortable to sit outside. The weather was 85 degrees plus humid and the house had no A/C except in the master bedroom so we did not spend a lot of time there.
We would definitely like to go back but it would be in the fall.

Lovely Weekend Getaway
Michael and Rebbeca's place is a gem; a very clean, spacious, warm, nicely decorated, comfortable home. The weather was not conducive to exploring the property, but we enjoyed the many books, fire place and well equipped kitchen for preparing our meals. I am sure the property and views are gorgeous in the summer and fall! We toured the wineries and breweries in the Putney, Brattleboro and Keene NH areas and enjoyed our time there thoroughly.

About the host
Hosted by Michael & Rebecca
As former residents of Putney, every summer we would return and rent a home for 1 or 2 weeks. We have been doing so for over 15 years and it has always been the most wonderful part of our year. This is the best place to live and visit. We were so excited to finally find our dream vacation home and are most happy to share it with you!
Why they chose this property
Putney Vermont is a very special town. The rolling hills and mountains create the backdrop for an eclectic community of artists, musicians, writers, sculptors, craftspeople, farmers, gardeners, shopkeepers and so much more. This is a friendly place with a real sense of community, where neighbors help neighbors. Within 10 miles is the larger town of Brattleboro with excellent supermarket shopping , and a vibrant downtown area with superb restaurant choices, bakeries, movie theatres, live music, book stores, museums, galleries, and various other shops and activities.
What makes this property unique
This home is warm and comfortable with every convenience. There are tremendous views, a wood burning fireplace. two brand new large flat screen TV's (living room and master) and a nice sound system. The kitchen is spacious with great appliances. It's fun to gather in the adjoining dining area and porch to enjoy conversations and meals. The living room is warm and cozy, and there are books on our library shelves for you to enjoy by the fire. Besides the views, there are great walks right outside the front door ~ down the dirt road with it's canopy of trees. There is a deck, garden area, fruit trees, berry bushes and 15 acres to explore with this home as well as hundreds of acres of adjoining forest land.
