Had a great time getting away from our classrooms for the weekend. View was fabulous. Cows next to cabin were fun to watch. Clean rooms and bathrooms. First time using VRBO was a bit confusing but would use again. We are already talking about booking again at this location.

Family Wedding
This was the perfect spot to house our entire family for our son's wedding which was located in the nearby Shannondoah Valley National Forest. The large home afforded every amenity needed, the property is absolutely beautiful and very private, yet easily accessible from the highway. The property is very clean, spacious, well furnished, large rooms with beautiful views and offers a large private outdoor space for relaxation and family gathering. The host is absolutely the best, communicative, helpful and all accommodating. Highly recommend!

The space was fantastic. It was such a nice, quiet location to spend the holidays. We were pleased with the location, size and and flow of the home. We had a large group that was able to fit comfortably and connect as a family.

Everything was excellent and we enjoyed the property immensely except for the mattresses which were noisy and lumpy. Windows facing sunrise should have dark curtains.

Kindness
We were hurricane milton "refugees" looking to take a break from the terrible damage we sustained from that storm Escaped to the beautiful Shenandoah Luray area to this cabin Our 4 month old Siberian husky decided to take a bite out of the cabin's wall. I reported this immediately to the owner He responded by saying "just send me A picture ". He could have said a lot worse I am responsible for the damages of course But I will remember the kindness in his tone and words to a frustrated and frayed traveler as much as the beauty of those mountains

Family Trip to Shenandoah
Great location and cabin. Comfortably accommodated 8 adults and a 13 year old. Super clean and well-stocked. Big yard to throw ball and great views. Arrowhead lake was right around the corner and it had a nice walking trail around it. Close to Luray and numerous attractions.

Amazing stay, amazing views
I stayed here with my bridal party for my wedding at StoneyMan Valley Ranch, and it was absolutely beautiful. Very accommodating, and made me wish that was my everyday house. You won’t be disappointed, trust me. Ben King was great at communicating with us, and even let us arrive a little earlier which he of course didn’t have to allow us to do. Overall, a wonderful stay, a wonderful “Gettinf Ready” venue for makeup and hair, and my bridesmaids and I had an absolute wonderful time, and made wonderful memories together at this place!

Stunning view, lots of space
We were looking for a last-minute stay in Shenandoah, and came upon this gem! Stunning view of the mountains! Plenty of space for our family of 6 and then some, room for the kids to play outside and inside. The pool table was a huge hit. We were visited by wild turkeys and cows in the field to the side of the house- the kids loved it. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware. Everything was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. WiFi was good. While the driveway was steep, it was short compared to other places we’ve stayed with a view as lovely as this. It’s about 15-20 minutes to Luray and only about 15 minutes to the Thornton Gap entrance to Skyline Drive, which is a favorite spot of ours to visit. Ben was a very responsive host. We will return!

Beautiful cabin home nestled in the mountains.
This cabin home offers a lot of livable space with a cozy cabin feeling and best of all it is nestled within the mountains. Wake up pour a cup of coffee and enjoy the scenic views from the front porch or one of the many decks as you smell the fresh mountain air. Our family can not wait to return!

Anniversary with Family
Our family was celebrating with my wife and me on our anniversary. The house was great. we went hiking on the Skyline Drive and visited Luray ZZ and Caverns. The leaves were changing so we had very nice views. We made a fire and had hot dogs and smores. Our grandsons enjoyed the trip which made it worthwhile. It was a great trip!

Excellent, low-key stay
We rented the place for Memorial Day weekend, and impressively I have no complaints whatsoever. The place was clean and the rooms were perfectly furnished. There was plenty of room for our group of nine to sleep. The view out back is great. We did have some issues getting the grill started, but luckily we had brought a charcoal grill. Plenty of room out back for lounging and grilling. Had a terrific stay and would stay again in the future.

Great Locstion and view.
We Turley enjoyed our stay with great view of mountain. Overall cabin was well maintained except couple of items. Dishwasher had mold which property manager says not. However, we didn’t use it. And one of the bathroom drain was clogged. Rest was great.

Great view even from the pool table!
The cabin was perfect for our larger group of wedding attendees! Kitchen supplies were well stocked (tons of wine glasses)! You can see the sunset well from the pile of rocks in the driveway. The driveway was a little steep/intimidating at first but I made it up fine in dry weather in my sedan car. There's a good donut place in town and a 24 hour wal mart for late night snack cravings. Great star gazing but keep the outdoor lights off so the bugs don't congregate.

Beautiful views, ok property
The views from this house were amazing! The layout and location of the house were nice. However, the property had a few issues. The dishwasher was full of mold and completely unusable. The few towels that were available were rather threadbare. Also, the living area had only a couch and loveseat, which were fine, but there was not enough seating for the 10 adults to sit together. Finally, a warning that the driveway was very difficult for those of us without 4 wheel drive. Overall, it was a "good enough" property for the price and location.

Perfect location; some improvements needed inside
The location was perfect. We were close to everything we wanted to do and the views from the house were beautiful. The price advertised was NOT the price for the house if more than 2 adults stay there. It is a 6 bedroom house, but the price quoted is for 2 adults. That price quote compared to what we paid was MUCH less. I think we paid twice what the house appears to cost on the VRBO page. Evidently, there is an explanation of the cost somewhere, but I did not see it. I do not understand why a 6 bedroom house would be listed for a price that applies only to 2 adults.. The house had not been fully readied for us. It seemed as though the cleaner ran out of time between bookings. The garbage from previous guests was on a small deck off the dining area. It stayed there while we were there. The manager said someone would pick it up the day I called or the next day (which would be the day we checked out). The trash smelled and attracted flies and bees. The outside chairs are old and warn. The seats are sagging and at least one had the fabric pulling away from the chair metal. Some beds had linens on top of them so as to. indicate that they were clean and we were to make the beds. The linens, however, did not all match the beds they were on. Some beds were made, so that left the question as to whether those linens were not clean. Some towels were stained and that also made us wonder if they were clean. All in all though, the house itself was laid out well. And the view and location are amazing.

Frustrating Experience
We arrived to find the cabin was not cleaned. The owner told me to check the other house on the property, also not clean. He asked me to take linens from the closet and make the beds while he worked on getting the cleaning crew. I told him that was like staying in an unclean hotel room. He told me he would not charge me for that night & we found other lodging. Before returning to the cabin the next day, Ben texted me to flip the circuit breakers for the hot water and the AC. The house was 87 degrees when we entered! It took 4-6 hours before the house cooled down. The rest of our stay was fine. Getting a refund for that first night was exasperating. After repeatedly trying to contact Ben over many days, he only refunded me just 2/3 of what I paid per night if you divide the full amount by 3 nights. The stress of not having the rental ready for our arrival, having to find other accommodations, our loss of time due to moving our things twice, elicited little concern or compassion from Ben. It became my financial loss. No compensation! *If you run into any problems with a rental, I learned to contact VRBO at the onset! The listing is misleading. It states a 2 night minimum, but he requires 3 nights during peak season. The price doubles after the fees are added in. Deck chairs, & stovetop glass, which is broken, needs replacing. The open layout is nice for a large group. The view is very picturesque with the mountains and cows. The location is convenient to sights.

BUGS! Renter beware!
Upon arrival we discovered thousands of dead bugs on the floor in the main living/kitchen area. I contacted Ben the host and he told me he had an exterminator in the unit the week before, that he was 100 miles away and could not help me, that we should just "sweep them up". If we would have had any other place to go we would have left, but there were multiple graduations in the area and everything was booked. So, we swept them up, took an hour. In the meantime, my 80 year old mother in law got locked in a bedroom due to a broken door knob. Luckily there was a deck outside her room se we talked her through removing the screen and getting out that way. When leaving the house the first evening to meet family for dinner, the electronic locking system would not work. I again tried to call Ben but he did not answer. I also texted him pictures of the bugs, again, no response. I sent him an email as we were leaving the property on Sunday morning and he did call me after that. But was rude, kept talking over me, insisted the unit was "clean". All he offered at that time was another weekend at the house, which we have no desire to ever stay there again! I contacted VRBO on Monday and they reached out to him, but as of today, 12 days after our stay, no refund. I am very disappointed in the customer service at VRBO that they will not issue the refund themselves. They said because I didn't contact them while we were at the rental location, they can't give our money back.

Beautiful property with a beautiful view! My family and friends enjoyed our stay. The cabin had everything we needed and offered plenty of space for three families. We had trouble with the downstairs TV and the owner called to help set it up. Firepit was nice. Location is close to Shenandoah NP and Luray attractions.

This was an absolutely amazing trip that couldn't have been made possible without the assistance of Mr. King and his gorgeous location. The cabin was beautiful, clean and spacious which matched all the natural beauty you're surrounded with outside. Homey vibes with all the windows for views throughout the day, multitude of kitchen utensils and tools for the night meals we were prepping and wide open room setups for ultimate comfort and relaxation. Thank you Mr. King for maintaining such a welcoming a warm location to get the pinnacle of getaway experiences.

Very nice home in the country
We visited at the end of October and the leaves were very beautiful. The home has GREAT views. My family and I really enjoyed having cows for neighbors. The home was very clean and well appointed. With six bedrooms there was room for everyone to be comfortable and relax. The owner had a prompt answer to every question. The listing was accurate but the driveway is a little intimidating. Make sure to check out the stars at night!

Beautiful home and Amazing views!!
This is a beautiful well maintained home. The grounds and the view are spectacular. I wish the numbers on the light poles at the base of the drivway were much bigger and easier to see. We arrived in the daylight and still drove right past them. We had 9 adults and 4 children in our group. There is plenty of room and we never felt we were on top of eachother. We are already planning another trip for next year.

Nice location in middle of nature
Property and location is very nice, however property needs some care to make it more enjoyable. Very first time sure to miss the house number, GPS does not help. Driveway steep and windy sure needs some care. Many light bulbs are out and needs replacement. Beds are squeaky but okay. Little care in bathroom can make it in good shape (fan/shower-head etc).. Outdoor furniture are aged and need replacement. Other than that it is located in middle of nature.

About the host

Hosted by Ben King

Host profile image
I am a 65 year old husband, father of two wonderful children and Grandfather of three grand kids. In my spare time I play golf with my son and friends. I enjoy the outdoors and living in the Shenandoah Valley, which is truly "Gods Country".

I have often thought, if God owned a motorcycle, the Shenandoah Valley would be his primary destination.

What makes this property unique

My home is secluded without being remote. My nearest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile from the cabin. Even with this seclusion I can be in Luray to shop in less than 15 minutes. For those that can't cut the cord I offer cable TV and wireless internet.
