We as hosts are avid snowmobilers in this area. Feel free to reach out with any questions! We know what you need in a place to make your stay stressless and comfortable!

The main floor has two bedrooms, kitchen, living room, laundry room, dining area, and both bathrooms. One bathroom has a shower, and the other bathroom has a jet-tub. The main floor will sleep 6 people.

The lower floor has one bedroom with 2 single beds. It also has a smaller table (4 seats), and living area with a pull-out sofa sleeper.

Outside, you will find a fire pit near the water, beach, and private dock, all of which are in the backyard. The backyard is accessible by our staircase or a grass hill on the side of the house. Also, there is plenty of parking- especially for trailers!

Crooked Lake is known to have plentiful fishing, and the “hot spot” is right off of the dock- in front of the cottage! There is a boat launch that the Hiawatha Nation Forest made about halfway down our driveway (FREE).

Due to the LARGE amounts of snow that this area receives, the fire pit area does not get snow removed to it and around it, and the dock is removed in the winter months. Ring doorbell camera is located on the front of the house pointing to the driveway/front yard.

Our goal is simple: to create the best experience and lasting memories for our guests. We hope that you book with us to enjoy a one of a kind- U.P. experience(:

Absolutely amazing!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful this rental is. I am a clean and neat freak and this place is sparkling clean! They use the best cleaning products. Beds are so comfortable! Extremely spacious! We were up snowmobiling and it’s very close to the trails. The driveway is wide and very truck and trailer friendly! Highly recommend! We plan to book again to enjoy the lake in the summer!

So nice we didn't want to leave.

We arrived and were thrilled with the location. The house was immaculate and the grounds were great. The seven of us had a wonderful time just relaxing. We had a nice campfire the first night and some of us went kayaking later in our stay. A great time was had by our group and we would not hesitate to return. If you're looking for a secluded getaway, look no further.

Perfect Place to Disconnect

This property is a true gem. We have stayed in many, many VRBO's, and this home is at the top of the list. Not only is the home very clean, but it's well appointed and private. There is room for the whole family. Everything was very comfortable and there are many options for outdoor enjoyment and relaxation. Please note that this home does use highly fragranced detergent on the bedding and towels for those that are highly sensitive (like my family). The home is also close to all the things you want to do by Lake Superior - but still remote enough for the peace and quiet we all need. I would highly recommend this home. I plan to book again for our yearly artists retreat. So much inspiration!

Lovely beautiful home

We had a wonderful visit at this beautiful spot. The house was clean, the beds were a dream, and the view was fantastic. Looking at old reviews I will say the water is fine to drink, and actually tastes pretty good. No worries there. The cell service is not really accessible without WiFi calling.

Beautiful, peaceful and clean

Our family (8 of us) stayed here for a week. We loved it. Such a beautiful space inside and out. It wasn’t far from the picture rock hikes that we love. Almost any window you look out of the house is the lake. We used the kayaks and fished. Caught crappie, bass and a few pike. Overall it was a great time. Thank you to the hosts for being so quick to respond to us when needed. You couldn’t ask for nicer people.

Spacious retreat for seclusion, nature, and peace!

Spacious house in a beautiful secluded setting with all the amenities to enjoy the outdoors. Having never been to the UP and coming from the ever-busy Detroit area, it was such a treat to hear nothing except the loons calling and the occasional boat go by instead of endless traffic noise. And the stars did not disappoint! The owners were very responsive and the little goodie basket with a few treats was a lovely touch. Our only issue was a lingering odor of cigarette smoke - especially in the bedrooms where there was carpeting - and the very bright light over the garage which made star gazing somewhat difficult. While we loved the seclusion for a short 3 night stay, it was a bit of a drive to most of the places we wanted to visit so I would probably choose something closer to the Marquette, Manistique or Munising areas next time. It would be a perfect getaway for a fishing or snowmobiling trip or anyone who truly wants to escape!

A very serene experience

This was exactly the stay that we needed. It allowed us to get away from all the hustle and bustle of daily life. The water was beautiful and the drive attractions was a short distance given the remoteness of the cottage. I wish the dock would have been up but regardless it was a great experience and would highly recommend.

5 stars

My husband and I loved our stay here, the location was convenient for us, spending most of our days at Pictured Rocks. There’s a ton of firewood, we really enjoyed the fire starters and s’mores kit. The house is huge, you could very comfortably have a larger group. The kitchen had everything we we needed to cook our dinners. The yard surrounding the house is enormous, there’s a very nice little sand beach and the kayaks were great. The lake is so peaceful and you can see it from almost every window in the house. Would definitely recommend.

Serene & Spacious

The home is beautiful, clean & very accurately depicted on VRBO. The owners were super responsible, provided a nice welcome gift & didn't have an overwhelming set of rules or regulations that I've seen with other rentals. They made the stay very pleasant. They allowed for use of all of their amenities (laundry, fully stocked kitchen, kayaks, firepit, grills, etc.) and had enough firewood chopped waiting that we could have a roaring fire every night of our stay! The floorplan of the home is very open with lots of room for many guests. We had 3 generations staying together during our vacation and not once were there any issues with space. We had a blast and would highly recommend this rental property to anyone looking to visit the UP! Very conveniently located on a beautiful, peaceful lake but only 10 minutes from the town of Munising with stores and gas stations as well as sight-seeing and other fun tourism activities. What a wonderful week! Thanks Abbey & Nick!

Tranquil, Private Getaway

We had such a great stay! The location is very private and beautiful. There are a few other homes/cottages on the very large lake, but this locale is on your own gorgeous penninsula. The setting and home were wonderful. The house was extremely comortable, clean and well stocked. The hosts were very accomodating, courteous, and polite in all communication. Short drive to many waterfalls and other natural trails and wonders. Looking forward to staying again when we next visit the U.P. Love it and thank you!

Enjoyed everyday of our 7 days vacation!

Staying at this home for the first time visiting the Upper Peninsula was the best decision we made. The house had everything we had and more, you name it and they had it. Nick and Abbey were super nice and answered all the questions we had (best customer service)! We were two different families and it fit all of us and there was still extra space. The view from every window was breathtaking especially during sunrise and sunset! Definitely recommend this home!

Family snowmobile time!

Nice to find snow. This has been a bad winter for snowmobiling in lower Michigan. Ran into a county sheriff and he was kind enough to show us some back ways to get to the trails. We might be interested in next year again!

About the host

Hosted by Abbey and Nick

Host profile image
We live about and hour and 20 minutes away in Escanaba, MI. Abbey and I were both raised in the Upper Peninsula. We love all that is has to offer. Our favorite hobbies are biking, snowmobiling, ATV riding, fishing, and site seeing. We love opening our home to guests so that they can have a one of a kind experience that can't be found when staying in a hotel.

Why they chose this property

This piece of real-estate was love at first site. We found it on Facebook market place as for sale by owner. We scheduled a showing and knew within the first 10 minutes that we had to get this place because of how rare the land was. This is the only cottage on a 50 acre peninsula. We haven't seen another property like it in the entire Hiawatha!

What makes this property unique

We are the only cottage on the entire side of the 190 acre lake! There are some spots in the home that you have a 270 degree view of the lake. There is not a bedroom that you can't look out the window and see water. How cool is that?!

Another crazy unique part is that we have 2 private beaches! One on each side of the Peninsula. Why have access to one private beach when you can have two?!(:
