About this property

1940's vintage barn restored, charming countryside

This work of HEART is a 2-level, 1940’s vintage barn nestled in the Ozarks. The Little Red Barn sits in a 21-acre hay pasture surrounded by 2 ponds and beautiful, rural scenery.
The property is easily accessed off of Arkansas Highway 5 between Calico Rock and Norfork. The barn has been an area landmark for decades, but in 2022 it was transformed into a versatile venue for rustic weddings and a unique glamping experience.
Its unusual character and many amenities give it personality and charm like no other venue/stay in the area.
Amenities include a bridge, a swing, a gazebo, a pavilion, two picnic tables, front porch, back patio, a propane fire pit, BBQ charcoal grill, and an outdoor fire pit - wood provided.
Bath house is separate from the barn.

Not what I expected

The Barn is cute and primitive. It would have been nice had it been 40 degrees warmer. There's no insulation, which you can tell from the pictures, but it would have been nice of the owner to let me know they were expecting high, cold winds when I mentioned bringing my toddler along. There was no shower- that I could find. I was also told by the property owner that there would be a grill- neither me nor my Fiancee could find it either. Note: the grill was supposed to be the only way to cook other than a small microwave. Needless to say, we didn't stay at all during our booked days. We went to Mountain Home and improvised with a hotel stay. Again, this would be a fine place to stay had all the amenities been available and it had been much warmer.

Roughing it Not Glamping

Property is definitely not what is described in the listing. It's not is the middle of a 21 acre pasture, it sits right off a VERY BUSY highway. Listing says ages 0-17 for children & this place is far from kid friendly. The bathroom is not attached to the barn... Listing says 2 bedrooms is like a studio with a loft. One of the amenities listed is an outdoor shower but when you get there you won't find a shower but a paper telling you there is a fee to shower . You pay a cleaning fee but will be charged an extra fee if you leave a water bottle outside. You are required to strip the beds or an extra fee. There is no sink in the barn only one that is fed from rain water in the outside bathroom. You are not told to bring bottled water. There are so many cracks it's freezing cold in there. The owners live across the street & stand on the hill starring at you while their dogs bark non stop. My husband was bit one of their dogs and it broke the skin. This was yesterday & today it all swollen, red & extremely sore. The dog wasn't being aggressive. He was trying to get the ball my husband was kicking to our SMALL CHILDREN. we drove a long way to get there & family that lives a couple hours out came to visit the only day we were there & apparently that's not allowed. We were booked from the 24th to the 26th but only stayed one night bc my husband's ankle was so sore and it was unbearably cold at night due to the major draft inside. The owner then billed me extra for items she said we're missing that one of them we don't even recall seeing while we were there & the other was left in the bedding we had to strip ourselves. (Wasn't a big deal bc I brought my own bedding always do) I was also charged for a solar light being destroyed when my husband picked it up off the ground and put it on one the hay bails. Definitely not meant for families. I would recommend bringing a tent and leaving the children at home.
