About this property

Yellowstone Family Tipi sleeps 7, w/ 1 king

Our large family tipi is roomy yet cozy inside. With a 450 sq foot (24 foot diameter) interior, and a 22 foot ceiling height, you won’t feel cramped. It includes fresh linens and extra thick comforters for the king bed, the fold out futon and the twin bed with trundle. There’s also extra blankets in each unit to keep you warm in the coldest of nights. It gets warm during the summer days, but summer nights drop to a cool, comfortable temperature which is why we don’t have A/C.
We’re also the only eco friendly glamping site near West Yellowstone to supply a solar powered portable power station to every accommodation. This will power all the interior lighting, and allow you to charge all your devices, even laptop that take a standard 2 or 3 prong AC wall plug. They will NOT run a C-Pap machine.
Restrooms are walking distance and shared with other guests. We offer toilets, sinks and hot showers, all off grid. We also provide you with fresh bath towels.
We set up our tipi’s in June and the season ends Sept 30th. It’s easy to forget this is still camping so please remember to plan for the weather, that includes warm/cold weather, rain, mud, and even snow during some months.

Wonderful stay!

We booked one of the tipis for the night on our way through from Yellowstone. It had plenty of beds for our family and is very clean. Beds are really comfortable. There were plenty of extra blankets to keep warm. Host hospitality is great with the campfire at night, s'more's cookout and to meet other campers. My only regret is OUR rental car alarm going off at 5am when we were trying to leave “quietly” because the key fob got too cold and wouldn’t work. I’m so sorry to all those we woke up abruptly.. I would highly recommend staying at Starlight Retreat

Definitely an adventure...

We had a great stay here! We loved the whole experience, but it was an adventure for sure. We loved the friendliness of the hosts and other guests. There was a community feel around the campfire and yard games. There was also a moose wandering around, a massive thunder storm with torrential rain (that does get a little in the tepee, they warn you of this!). The bathroom facilities had an issue so we arent able to review those, as we only had port-a-potties for our night there. But really, our family had a great time and would love to stay again!

Glamorous Glamping

Such an awesome glamping experience! Loved all they had to offer in the community area. My kiddo loved the tetherball and reading in the hammocks. The teepee was so cute and comfy! The staff was very helpful!

My family loved our stay in the Family Tipi. It comfortably slept 6 (3 adults & 3 children). The beds are hotel quality with plenty of warm blankets for the cooler nights. They provide the stuff to make s’mores around the campfire every night. The BR/showers were well kept. Usually the hot water was out by morning but we just made sure to shower at night. About a 20 min drive to West Yellowstone and the West Entrance. With plenty of shopping and food options. Great experience! Would definitely stay here again for our next Yellowstone trip.

Sleeping in a teepee has been on our families bucket list, and this experience was absolutely amazing. The grounds are part of Idaho's state lands and the grounds were covered in native plants and fauna, making the experience authentic. All accommodations were extremely clean and well kept. There were many games and a campfire in the evening along with s'more making. This was our highlight of visiting Yellowstone.

Cute tipi

Campground was clean & cozy. Tipi was adorable with comfortable beds. Parking right by the tipi was so convenient. Bathroom trailers were close and clean. Bonfire with smores was a nice addition to the day! We even saw a moose walk through our campground. Awesome!!

Wonderful Family Vacation

Yellowstone trip with 3 night stay in a teepee (teen bucket list item) was a big hit with our teens! Great communication & service the entire time. THANK YOU for helping make this a great family vacation. When you 1st arrive, check in at the Welcome Tent, call if no one is there. Optional: Pick up bear spray & pay for propane heater. Campsite was beautiful & clean. Spacious teepee. Comfortable beds had plenty of pillows, fitted sheet, flat sheet, & comforter & also 1 small extra blanket per bed. Used the propane heater every night. Thunderstorms the 1st night & had no leaks. 2 nightstands with lamps, outlets for charging your phones & laptops. Wouldn’t run a hair dryer. Bring camp chairs to sit outside the teepee. Clean showers/bathrooms are short distance from the teepee & water was hot. There was shampoo, conditioner & body soap. Chest outside showers for dirty towels. If you have a disabled or elderly person, be aware the doors were a little difficult to open & close as you walked up the 3 or 4 steps as they wanted to shut on their own. The community fire pit has wooden chairs, picnic tables, roasting sticks, a tether ball & corn hole games. Camp hosts were friendly & good company while we roasted complimentary smores & our own hot dogs. Community fire pit from 7-10pm. Around our teepee we saw moose, deer & many different birds. It's a beautiful location close to a main road & there weren't any bear trash cans onsite so my teens were not too worried about bears.

Neat experience.

The young woman who checked us in (we didn't get her name), she was just great. Made sure we got checked in, knew about bathrooms, started a fire for smores, and just overall great host. This was a neat experience, and we would do it again. It's not as remote as we thought and we could hear the traffic from the highway. But overall it's a nice property and experience.

I'm Shane and I grew up in a family that loves tent camping. Like many families, our charge to the wilderness was always led by my dad. This year my dad and hero unexpectedly passed away at a far far too young age, which destroyed me. So as part of my healing, I took it upon myself to honor his legacy by sharing the outdoors with as many people as I could by opening our glamping site named Starlight Retreat. And what better place than Yellowstone, the worlds first and in my opinion, most unique national park! So consider this my invite to you, to come enjoy the great outdoors, bring your loved ones, and build your own amazing memories at some of the most amazing places our country has to offer.

Why they chose this property

At only 19 minutes to the West Yellowstone entrance of Yellowstone you'll find an absolutely stunning property on 40 acres of pine forest, meadows and aspen groves with beautiful views of the valley, walking distance to Henry's Fork an amazing fishing river, only a few minute drive to Henry's lake a world famous fishing lake, plus endless miles of absolute world class fishing rivers, lakes, waterfalls and hunting. It's no wonder they call this area "Sportsman's Paradise". I think guests will be surprised to have such easy access to the site off hwy 20, yet still feel so far away from it all.

What makes this property unique

Starlight Retreat Yellowstone’s 530 sq ft Family Tipi has beds for 7 guests. It’s an eco-friendly glamping retreat on 40 acres of stunning forest, meadows, and aspen groves; yet only several minutes from hwy 20 and 19 minutes to West Yellowstone.
