This was the perfect retreat for my sister and I while visiting my son who's stationed at Fort Drum. It was central to everything. The home is cozy and equipped with everything you need for a peaceful stay. I just wish the weather was better so we could have enjoyed the outdoors more! I will definitely stay here again!
This property was a wonderful place to stay while we waited on our home to become available! Very clean and well stocked with a wonderful owner who was very helpful!
Super nice stay. Good quick location. Super clean house equipped with all you need and even more. Close to all attractions. Pet friendly. Very satisfied. A+++++++
The house was perfectly located for our needs, had all the features we needed (and more!), and we greatly appreciated the time frame we were given for check in/out. Big thanks to the hosts for everything!
Fabulous owners, clean and well stocked house. Perfect location for both fishing Oneida/St. Lawrence and Dexter/Black River. Could not have asked for a better stay!
Wonderful hosts, clean, homey, perfect for our needs. So many wonderful touches in the home. The communication on everything was so concise and covered things before we even thought to ask. Rebooked for next year already.
The house is very quaint with a big back yard overlooking the river. The house is very well stocked with anything you could need. Had a wonderful stay - going back in July.
The house was very nicely decorated and very well equipped with anything you could possibly need for a wonderful vacation. We were able to enjoy comfortable breakfasts in the kitchen while enjoying meals in the dining room. It was in a great location and close to shopping and great restaurants. Would highly recommend this place for your stay near the Black River!
The property is amazing and you couldn’t ask for a better location! You can pretty much roll out of bed and start fishing. The host was attentive while still giving us space. Will definitely recommend and will hope to stay again in the future. Thanks again for the great weekend!
This house is just perfect - very well supplied with anything you could need, kitchen is a dream and just loved the old wood floors and pocket doors. Great views of the Black River, great yard, walking distance to coffee shop and ice cream stand. Great little town to walk around.
Excellent stay while we waited for our new house. Property is much bigger than it looks in the pictures and very comfortable. Hosts were very communicative and kind. Definitely recommend this for anyone staying in Dexter. It's gorgeous!
We needed a pup friendly home to stay at while visiting our best friends. Our host was gracious enough to let us have a "Friendsgiving" there as my friends home doesn't have the capacity. The home was gorgeous, everything we needed and the backyard view was beautiful. Suzie and Dean's home gave us memories to cherish forever.
This home was exactly what we were looking for. The owner has furnished this house with everything you might need, including extras. Her attention to detail was apparent in every room. All the appliances and A/C functioned perfectly. The rooms are comfortable and the decor is like a trip around the world. We would stay there again without hesitation. Plus, it is dog-friendly which is very important to us. Suzie even had dog biscuits waiting for our pooch.
This VRBO home is awesome! The house is very well kept, clean, in a great location, and is generously stocked with supplies. One of the nicest places we have ever stayed. The owner is a great communicator and responded quickly to all our questions. We will definitely be back!!

About the host
Hosted by Susan Harrison
We are a retired military family, who, after spending 30 years moving, decided to settle in the beautiful North Country. We love all activities outdoors - fishing, camping, hiking, biking - and this area is perfect for all of those!
Why they chose this property
This house is so special to us. It is a solidly constructed home which we have lovingly upgraded over the years. The view of the river is spectacular, both from the house and ON the river. Above the dam (behind the house), is hands down some of the most scenic views of the Black River. Below the dam is incredible fishing (pic is of coho salmon caught behind the house in October '22), with access to Black River Bay and out to Lake Ontario.
