About the host
Hosted by James
Hi and thank you for considering our home in the Boulders Resort! We are James and Jennifer - a brother and sister - close since birth. (Jenn is older, but James is smarter and a way better golfer, most times.) We are originally from WA, but grew up in Canada and when college beckoned, Jennifer came to Arizona and James went to the "Harvard of SoCal" otherwise known as CalTech. (Told you he was smarter.) Jennifer attended the "Harvard of Northern Arizona" aka: Northern Arizona University on a broadcast journalism scholarship.
Having lived and worked in Arizona for 20 years and enjoyed all this amazing state has to offer, Jennifer finally convinced her family to move from WA and also her brother James to settle in part time, between AZ and CA. Jennifer works as a full-time Realtor/Interior Designer selling homes in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Carefree/Cave Creek and Flagstaff. James is semi-retired (lucky - but yes, it took a LOT of hard work to get to that point) and enjoys flying his plane around the western US.
We came across this property and thought it was enchanting with its location so peaceful, we wanted to purchase it as a family home. (Jenn is still working to get their father and step-mom to move from Texas to AZ... we thought we'd entice them with this.) However, since our family is not ready to settle in, we thought, let's create a beautiful, restful space where others can relax and escape the pace of the world for a bit. And, here we are. We hope you enjoy your time and we're happy to make your stay the best it can be.

Why they chose this property
Surrounded by the magic of the high desert, this area (the farthest point of North Scottsdale/Carefree) is renowned for its year-round beauty and less-hot summer climate. In fact, it's not uncommon to have this area feel 10-degrees cooler than the Valley (Phx, Scottsdale) in the summer. Winters are crisp and refreshing, but still allow for all your favorite outdoor activities. We loved the architecture of this home with its high ceilings and authentic Saltillo floors. The backyard is secluded and quiet with peek-a-boo views of the iconic boulders formations. It was the four gas fireplaces that sealed the deal - two of which are modeled after the southwestern Kiva-style fireplaces.
The area is one of our favorites - with proximity to golf, Bartlett Lake, hiking, off-roading, not to mention some of the best restaurants and bars. It's also the perfect place to feel as though you're removed from big city hustle and bustle. It's always rejuvenating to come and spend time here.
Just a 45-min drive to Sky Harbor Airport, and a 20-minute drive to the Loop 101, you can be almost anywhere within 30-40 minutes!
