About this property
Gorgeous Oceanfront Villa La Solana I & II w/ Pool
Beautiful newly renovated villa right on the Gulf of Mexico with separate first and second floor units. Great for families or groups, the first floor (max 8) has 3 BR, 2.5 BA, full kitchen, dining area and living room. Second floor (max 4) has 2 BR, 1.5 BA, full kitchen, dining area, living room. With double the kitchen space, appliances and utensils, there is plenty of room to cook for a big group!
The Space:
The villa is located in the picturesque fishing village of Santa Clara right on the Gulf of Mexico. Perfect for families or groups of couples, this charming home is fully equipped on both floors for a relaxing vacation experience. All bedrooms in both units have air conditioning and ceiling fans. The bedrooms on the first floor also have hammock hooks. Living and dining spaces on both floors have gorgeous ocean views and breezes. The second floor ocean-front balcony is perfect for sunbathing while the first floor ocean-front patio features outdoor dining space pool-side. Extra tables and chairs are available in the house to accommodate larger groups for both interior and al fresco dining.
The downstairs unit accommodates up to 8 persons (adults and/or children) while the upstairs unit accommodates 4 (adults and/or children), for total capacity of 12. Please note: there will be a surcharge for each individual over these numbers. If you wish to have more persons than the capacity, please inquire prior to booking your reservation so we can include that in your price.
Food and Drinks!
The three seafood restaurants in town open for lunch by noon and close by 6:00 pm for dinner. You can also usually buy fish from the local fishermen as they come in each day with their catch if you prefer to cook your own. There are more choices for restaurants in Dzidzantun and Dzilam de Bravo and the ones in Dzidzantun in the centro are open later into the evening for dinner.
We recommend you do your shopping for food and drinks before arriving in Santa Clara as the local shops in town carry a few basics only. If you are coming from Merida there are many excellent grocery stores there to pick up whatever you need. There are also smaller grocery stores in Dzilam de Bravo Dzidzantun and Dzilam de Bravo, 10-15 minutes by car. You can get fresh meat, eggs, vegetables and fruits in the markets in both towns. There is also a Carne Max in Dzidzantun which has a good selection of meats.
There is a beer store in town (Six) where you can buy beer, sodas, chips etc. There is also a liquor store in the next town westward, Chabihau that carries a small selection of alcohol (Vodka, run, tequila). You won’t be able to find wine locally so if that is your preference, be sure to plan ahead!
The beer store usually sells bags of ice. The refrigerator/freezer in the house does not have an ice maker so plan to purchase ice locally.
Fishing Trips and Boat Rides:
For those who enjoy fishing, we work with a local fisherman to offer fishing trips to our guests. Bring your favorite rod and reel or try your hand at fishing with just a line as the fishermen traditionally do.
The fishing tour operator also offers boat rides for an opportunity to get out on the water and see Santa Clara from the ocean.
Guest Parking:
There is sufficient parking space within the property walls for 3-4 cars with additional space on the street.
Other Notes:
Our gardener will stop by Monday through Friday to take out any trash, open coconuts and clean the beach as needed. We will show you how to turn the pool pump on / off for basic cleaning. Your hosts will take care of any additional pool cleaning that is needed.

About the host
Hosted by Anne Large

While living in Redondo Beach, California, we began our search for a picturesque beach getaway, near enough to a large city for access to an international airport, superior medical facilities, shopping, dining and cultural activities but not overly developed or a tourist hub. We discovered Santa Clara, Yucatan, a peaceful fishing village where the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean meet. There is something magical about Santa Clara....once you arrive you never want to leave. After some months commuting back and forth we relocated permanently. We love the beauty, peace and safety of Santa Clara, the friendly families who are our neighbors, the proximity to the city of Merida, to so many Mayan ruins, both famous and little known, and to dozens of cenotes. We have the lifestyle that we always wanted and thought to have only at retirement. We would love to welcome you to our little corner of paradise!
