Location was great we had a short drive to Bear Valley to take our daughter tubing. The deck with fire pit was nice with plenty of seating. The living area was a nice size for our group of 7, plenty of couch space and the fireplace was very cozy. There is plenty of parking space. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms, kitchen were clean. My daughter is three and the spacing of the stair railing was kind of wide. She could fit btw the spindles making the stairs nervracking. The house could use some cleaning. The fans were dusty and there were a lot spider webs along beams. We had pillowcases and towels that were torn and could use replacing.
Our two families (adults and teens) stayed at the Stronghold for a New Year’s snow adventure, and it was fantastic! This was our first time in Arnold, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house was perfect for our needs, felt like we were staying at a family member’s cabin – cozy, welcoming, and ideal for a mountain getaway. Evenings were spent playing games by the fire in the living room and stargazing from the hot tub. During our stay, we had an unexpected emergency, and the Strong family’s kindness and genuine care stood out as they checked in on us and offered support. It made a huge difference and we are so grateful. We can’t wait to return to the Stronghold this summer to enjoy lake activities. Highly recommend this cabin for a perfect family retreat!
Wonderful cozy cabin, with a fully stocked kitchen (important for Thanksgiving).
This stay took us back to when we would head up to our family friend’s cabin, eat good food, and play a ton of games. Throw in the fire pit and hot tub, we were truly set!
Location is fantastic, close enough to drive up to the mountains to ski but centrally located in Arnold so you’re only a minute from the grocery.
Check-in and check-out were a breeze and communication with the owners was smooth before and during our stay.
The Stronghold was within a short walk to the lake which was a fantastic spot to hang out. The house was so great for our group - we loved the porch for grilling and star gazing, the toys for the toddlers, and spacious living room for movie night! The kitchen was well stocked which was nice! The only issue was we came in a heat wave and not having AC made it pretty brutal! Luckily there were a few fans and the night breeze helped eventually :) definitely a great property and would come back!
Brithday, Kidney transplant and pups 1st time in snow celebration
Wow! What a nice place to stay. Family of six plus dog. Home was cozy, comfortable, loved that the kitchen was stocked with larger size pots and pans family of six to cook for. We loved it and plan to return. Enjoyed Games, football, walks and Hot tub!
We had a fabulous stay at the Stronghod house. The owner Jeff was very easy to communicate with. We had a small issue and Jeff made a stop by the house and fixed the issues quickly. He was so friendly advising us where we should fish, even offering to take us to a few hidden local spots to fish next time we come. The kids loved all the wooded surrounds they could run and play in. I would definitely recommend the Stronghold house for your next family trip!
Let’s start with the kitchen … the counters were jammed with dirty, dusty and/or greasy appliances! The rugs had not been washed in some time. The insides of the drawers and lower cabinets were FILTHY! Crumbs in the silverware to the pots and pans drawers! There is an array of dishes, glassware (chipped glass cut my grandson’s lip,) plastics, pots & pans, etc. The entire home had not been vacuumed! All the wooden surfaces were covered in dust. Even though the ad “tagline” references hot tub, the welcome binder says NOT to use due to insurance. The linens, sheets & bedding were most likely purchased when the house was built. HAZARDS outside; deep trench behind garage and two ladders leaning against house! When texting with one of the family members, all she said about my complaints was, “Good luck to you!” Wow!
We stayed at the Stronghold with three young kids and five adults for a family birthday celebration. This was our second time coming to the lake but our first time staying at this particular house. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house was perfect for our needs.
The house was clean and comfortable. The decorations in the house made it feel very homey. It felt as though we were staying at a family member's cabin. Perfect for a family getaway.
The bunk room had toys that the kids really liked to play with. At night, we sat around the firepit and stargazed from the deck. We saw a number of shooting stars: beautiful.
We happened to be at the house during a heatwave. The house does not have A/C. However, there were thermometers showing the outside temperature, which made it pretty easy to ventilate the house in the morning and shut it down before it got hot. We did most of our cooking on the BBQ to keep the heat outside.
During the day, we swam and played in the lake. It was a lot of fun, and was a great way to stay cool during the heatwave.
The one negative thing that I would say about the house is that some of the information in it needs to be updated. For example, while the house listing advertises the hot tub, the welcome book says that guests are not allowed to use the tub. That being said, the confusion was not an issue for us: with the heatwave, we had no interest in the tub!
We definitely would recommend the Stronghold.
Had a blast staying at The Stronghold with me and four of my friends, all of us 19 for reference. Beds were comfortable, clean, and plenty big enough. The whole house was well furnished and clean, hot tub was clean and worked perfectly. My favorite part of all was the amazing night air! The house ventilates really well and is soooo comfortable at night. Had some of the best sleep ever which had me super energized for our vacation. Me and my friends all had a great time staying here, and we’ll be back for sure! :)
PS: You’ll be blown away by the night sky if you’re used to city lights like me 😉
We have stayed in another rental previous years but it was no longer being rented out so we were excited to find this great house in the same area. Unfortunately when we arrived it was clear to the 4 adults that it had not been generally cleaned well in years. Carpet and floors were very dirty as were all counters and surface throughout the home. Lots of personal items on shelving and surfaces making for a lot of clutter that collects dust. Bathrooms surfaces however did look like they had been wiped down well. Ceiling fans had lots of dust. Couldn’t turn them on. Used tampon in bedroom trash. A lot of crumbs/dirt on kitchen flooring and counters.
The location and layout was great. We were able to get partial refund and moved to another available rental that evening The owner was surprised about my concerns but was extremely accommodating in refunding the rest of the weeks rent. I was grateful as it wasn’t an option for us to stay. My daughter was needing to take my 4 yr old granddaughter with asthma to a nearby hotel. Bad start to our week for sure. Fortunately it worked out in the end. Love the area and the lake
