About this property

WaterFront Cabin Hot Tub Kayaks Fishing Game Consoles

Summary:
Welcome To The Lodge At Tunkhannock Creek, a 2 bedroom rustic log cabin on over 1/10th of a mile of creek frontage In Tunkhannock, PA - a historic town in the beautiful Endless Mountains of Pennsylvania. The creek is great for kayaking, swimming, or fishing, and it’s stocked by the PA Fish Commission. The lodge is a cozy cabin perfect for families, couples, or a small group of friends. Come to enjoy the peace of the creek or to explore all the area has to offer!

The Space:
The lodge is an authentic log cabin built in the 1970s, situated on 5.3 acres with 600’ of creek frontage. Easy access to the creek makes launching the provided kayaks or fishing a breeze!

Ski resorts near The Lodge At Tunkhannock Creek: Montage mountain 12.9 miles, Jack Frost 23.7 miles, Elk Mountain 29.3 miles.

Miller mountain in Tunkhannock is the highest mountain in this section of the Endless Mountains. It is state forrest and open to the public. Good hiking on that mountain. And really good views. The 2,216-foot peak is believed to be the last remaining undeveloped peak of its size in Pennsylvania that HAD been privately owned. Its topographical imprint on the landscape is regionally unique and visible for a remarkable distance.

Please note: The awning on the rear deck is removed in mid fall and throughout the winter months. And yes the Hot tub is open all year.

Inside:
You will find a comfortable space with air conditioning, 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. We have two smart TV’s (upstairs living room and downstairs TV room) where you can log into your streaming services. We also have bluetooth speakers you can easily connect to inside and out. WiFi provided so you can stay connected. The downstairs TV room has a few retro gaming consoles (Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega), Over 1,200 preloaded games. Also board games. We also have a washer and dryer for guests to use if needed (laundry detergent included!)

Bedroom 1 has one queen bed.

Bedroom 2 has 4 twin beds - bunk beds, and a single twin bed with a pull-out trundle bed.

(We also have two queen beds in the pull-out sofas!)

In the kitchen we provide pots and pans, utensils, wine glasses, toaster, Ninja coffee maker, waffle iron, blender and more. Coffee grounds, sugar and creamer provided.

For those traveling with kids - we provide a pack -n- play, booster chair for the table, 5 point harness High Chair, a baby bathtub, kids dinnerware and utensils, sippy cups and some games and toys. Children’s floaties also provided. As parents ourselves, we also made sure to add extra safety precautions to the home, such as tamper-proof outlets, plexiglass around stair rails so a child can’t fit through; a gate on the deck and a gate at the top of the interior steps. With both gates closed an infant can roam the entire upper floor including the exterior rear deck without needing to have constant supervision. Of course, nothing can be 100% child-proof so please make sure to keep an eye on any children around the home and property! Especially near the water.

Outside:
The cabin is perched on a hill with great views overlooking the creek and mountain in the background. It’s not difficult to get down to the creek. Multiple paths have been created, the creek front has been cleared and two ramps from the bank down to the water have been created for your easy access. Don’t forget to bring your fishing gear! (PA requires a fishing license. You can buy it online)

We provide kayaks, life jackets and some tubes.

We have an upper deck, partially covered with an awning, with rocking chairs, a picnic table. The lower deck is also covered, with another picnic table, A gas grill and 5-person hot tub that overlooks the creek.

A few steps down you will find a fire pit that overlooks the water. We provide unlimited firewood for guests.

Guest Access:
Guests have full access to the cabin and the 5.3 acres that it sits on. Including all of the 600' of creek frontage.

The Neighborhood:
Creek Front. Rural setting, but minutes from great food and shopping options. Pizza, sub shops, Walmart, CVS, Dunkin' Donuts, liquor/beverage store, Aldi, Anytime Fitness, winery, McDonald's, Burger King, Chinese food, Mexican restaurant all nearby. 18 hole golf course, 18 hole disc golf course. Cornhole and ax-throwing places nearby. Beautiful public park/playground nearby.

The Main Street in Tunkhannock is full of boutiques and outdoor dining options.

There is 1 single home that shares the driveway entrance with the main cabin. The home itself is approx 100' away from your cabin and privacy is not compromised. There are no other homes/neighbors within site of the cabin.

Getting Around:
Automobile. The cabin is on a well maintained Paved road. Our driveway is paved. The driveway is plowed, salted and professionally managed in the winter, but please understand that you're in the mountains of Northeast PA. Please have reasonable expectations if you travel here with a 2 wheel drive vehicle during inclement weather.

Other Things to Note:
By booking you understand that you enter the creek at your own risk. For your convenience and safety, we provide life jackets for the listed occupancy of the home. The creek is very calm and gentle, BUT, it is a body of water. Please watch your children.

We enjoy all 4 seasons here in Northeast PA. Please set your expectations for outdoor amenities accordingly.

There are a few cameras on the exterior of the property only. They do NOT record audio. They look at the driveways and give us a Birds Eye view of the creek. This is how we make sure that the property is maintained properly (snow conditions, etc). The cameras are visible for you to see their angles and are not hidden. There are no angles that would jeopardize your privacy. No camera on hot tub.

This is a rustic cabin. There are animal mounts, pelts, furs etc. There is great educational value in these items. Let yourself and your children learn from them. We have clearly photographed them in the listing. If these items upset you, please do not book this cabin and then give us a poor review for it. We know the specific type of guest that will LOVE these items and enjoy their authenticity. We hope that's you ! :)

Minimum age of primary guest who is booking is 25.

A perfect getaway
This property was amazing to rent. They have truly thought of all the details. Sometimes it the little things that make the most. Besides being an absolute amazing cabin with a hot tub, it had qr codes for everything which was so handy. At first I thought I am not going to use all of these but turns out I used every single one. They link to videos for everything in the cabin. There is all sorts of charging areas, wifi and bluetooth capabilities, easy tv access, nostalgic video games and more! There were days we stayed and enjoyed the cabin and days we went on adventures. Our favorite being the nearby Ricketts Glen Waterfalls. We were lucky to catch beautiful fall views of nearby mountain tops and enjoyed apple picking and farmers markets. It was a wonderful trip for our family and we will definitely be back again.

We arranged this trip last minute and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The amenities and property were exceedingly above average and above the description.

Long weekend by the creek
We had a great time at the cabin. The house was perfect for adults and children. We have two boys age 5 and 3. They loved their room with the bunk beds, playing with the video games downstairs, and exploring outside. We kayaked, floated, fished, and had a few camp fires. The town had a lot of charm. We went to the farmers market on Saturday, did a few nature walks, spent some time at the playgrounds, and got ice cream at local bbq/mini golf. Would recommend this home to anyone looking to get away and reconnect with nature. The home was clean, well set up, and cozy (without feeling small). We would definitely stay here again!

This property is exacly what we look for when we book a getaway.....
It is impossible to write a review with a droid phone. You cannot see what you are typing :( But ill do my best. Everything was perfect....except the weather. Our first day we spent floating on tubes in front of the cabin enjoying sunshine and cocktails. The water was cool and crystal clear.....unfortunately it rained hard all night and the river turned into chocolate milk tbe rest of our stay. But we hit some neat little bars and antique shops and thank god for the hot tub. It was perfect :)

Relaxing Weekend Getaway
What a beautiful property! The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The little touches, like the smores kit, made it that much special. I hope to return in the spring, I would love to see the property in every season.

Cozy cabin
Booking was a bit of an issue but they did do a great job of communicating and trying to resolve the issue quickly. Property accurately matched pictures. Atmosphere had a great nature and cabin feel. Backyard had nice campfire area, hammock, and kids could explore by the creek. The cabin was a nice location that it was not too far from the city, if you did want to get groceries or take out. It was very family friendly. It had a machine/night light in kid bedroom. There were stuffed animals, books and toys for the kids. Also, a pack and play. The main level had a baby gate. Appreciated the shampoo/conditioner/body wash in the bathroom. Would add extra towels if you plan to use the hot tub as well. There was a washing machine, detergent and dryer. Overall, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Would recommend for a family getaway!

Wonderful clean, cozy cabin on the river
We truly enjoyed Thanksgiving at the beautiful, clean, cozy cabin on the Tunkhannock creek. The owners spared no attention to detail. The home was ready for us to enjoy on arrival. The smores kit with fire sticks was a nice little touch. It was perfect for our family including our kids ages 11, 10, and 8. We all loved the animal pelts, fishing in the river, the firepit, the variety of video games and board games, and the relaxation of the hot tub. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again.

What makes this property unique

The Lodge is unique because it's professionally managed. What does that mean. You know when you visit a short term rental and none of the amenities work? And the host isn't even aware of it. Or maybe they are ..., Well we do quality checks quite often. Unlimited firewood ? Yes we've got that. High end furnishings, decor etc. Everything was well planned and thought through.
