Aspen wood ceilings, clear dug fir floors, plush furniture, a sprawling open kitchen with tons of counter space, classic decor, a deep cast iron tub and 21' cathedral ceilings were some of the reasons why this home was featured in The Aspen Sojourner magazine mid winter 2008 edition under 'In style, off the Grid.'

Cabin in the Sky

We stayed at Cabin in the Sky Sept 24-29th. Oh my goodness! Title of cabin is perfect. Ever want to sleep under stars with all the comforts? Book this cabin! We went to bed every night with a view of the stars and Milky Way right out our window! Not to mention being surrounded by the golden mountains. Aspens were in full color! Highly recommend only if you want to experience the beauty of the mountains with all the comforts! Not to mention the quaint community of Marble! Thank you Anthony and Alex for sharing this piece of heaven!

Refuge in the sky

This is simply an amazing place, truly magical. The pictures don't even do justice to the spectacular wilderness setting, no way a photo can capture how spectacular, wild, beautiful and rugged this is. The town of Marble is the anti-Aspen, isolated, peaceful, and rugged and this house is on the steep slopes way above town. If you hike in Aspen, you do so with the crowd. Here I hiked many days and saw no one all day. The 4WD roads had more people, but still pretty isolated on weekdays. The house was a spiritual retreat, warm and welcoming. Unusual in that it is really off the grid and solar powered. The top story is kitchen, sitting, bedroom, and bathroom, very comfortable. We love to cook and found the kitchen very well equipped, far better than most rentals, and with the best view imaginable. We had breakfast on the patio every day, breath taking view, the only sound being the humming birds. The lower story is a living area with a sofa, a bed (no bath), television, and a large enough area to serve as my yoga studio in the mountains, again with amazing views. As pointed out by other reviews, the water is from a well and, as is often the case in the mountains, smells a bit of sulfur. It was just fine for washing, but as recommended we used water from travel jugs to drink. The owner, Anthony, is very helpful and gave us a tour and comments on how he built this nest in the sky, really a neat story. We highly recommend this experience.

Very quiet and peaceful weekend. Gorgeous views from every window as indicated by the listing. Make sure to fill the hummingbird feeder if it's season-appropriate as they provided delightful company throughout our stay.

Peace and Serenity

Husband, wife, daughter (party of 3) 7-24-2022 through 7-31-22. Wow! The Cabin and the view!!!! The title speaks for what the Cabin in the Sky brought us. The 360 view of mountains was breathtaking. Being Blessed with two double rainbows after some light rain a couple of the evenings was a true Blessing. Anthony and Alexandria (the owners) were extremely helpful and the sweetest couple. The description is exactly what the cabin is. We have read things and rented before and it not be what we expected at all. This listing is honest and fits its real description to a T! Clean, well supplied for all you need, beautiful view, comfortable and home away from home. It is listed as off grid and to try and be conservative with water and electric. We respect this and appreciate the awareness and openness of not being wasteful. We didn’t have any problems with this part of it at all. Parking was a little tricky but we took their advice and backed down and it worked out great. Marble is such a quaint and quiet little town. We enjoyed hiking either in Marble or driving within 1-1/2 to 2 hours around to hike other trails also. Beaver Lake is right below cabin and many were paddle boarding or kayaking on it a lot of times. (Not sure where they got the paddle boards and kayaks though) RDS rental right there in Marble has UTV’s to rent to go and see Crystal Mills and there are guided jeep tours to take you too. Slow Groovin BBQ in Marble has great tasting and huge servings of food and the people are so so friendly. We thank you Anthony and Alexandria for sharing this little peace of Heaven in the mountains with us. It was a true Blessing to meet you both We look forward to coming back again! Highly recommended! God Bless!

Perfection

The property was heaven. The scenery from each window is breathtaking. I highly recommend this cabin and you will not be disappointed when booking this home and this area for your vacation spot. It has been made clear to you in the description that it is an off-the-grid cabin so this means you need to be conservative but shouldn't we be conservative anyways even with our own home? My stay made me realize that we should continue with these practices regardless (be mindful of how much water we use, and turn off/unplug items, not in use). Going to bed to the stars and waking up to beautiful scenery from your bed brings peace to your soul. It is a true retreat for the soul. Things to do: We did the following: A nice relaxing hike down to the little town of Marble. We visited all the locals and ate at our favorite restaurant (and people to visit) at The Groovin BQ, Rented ATVs, Went Horseback riding, Went to Glenwood to the Amusement park and walked around the cute city, Took the most amazing drive, and by far was my favorite (for me) because it was everything I love a beautiful forest of Aspen and pine trees-filled with an abundance of deer! It was an hour's drive to Crested Butte through Keebler Pass. Take your camera as you will have many opportunities to get great photos!) I told my family that is where I want my ashes spread. So we did do something that I do not recommend if you are not an experienced hiker and that was the hike to Raspberry Creek Trail. We loved it but you must be prepared for a LONG hike as it took us 8 hours we made it just shy of the top ridge before a storm broke out so we made the decision to not do the loop and go back the way we came in due to the trail not marked and very hard to follow. A lot of bear skat so take a gun or bear spray with you. Coming down in the rain on the steep hike was hard on my knees. The only thing I did not like about the trails around the area - they are not marked well and little to no info on them. I have ALL Trails app but there is no cell service so download info in advance! (I did not do) You should not watch TV and instead play games and put puzzles together, or even make friends with the chipmunks. We went down the lane daily to say hi to the little snake. We saw deer around the cabin and in Marble, we saw fox. Do yourself a favor - as you are trying to decide on a vacation - book this home. Cami Ciotta, Indiana Thanks Anthony for sharing your home.

Simply Fantastic...

We totally and completely enjoyed our stay at The Cabin in the Sky! Marble is a charming location-right out of a fairytale. It was a pleasure to disconnect and unwind from phones and TV. We visited Aspen and took a day trip to Crystal Mill. The Slow Groovin restaurant was delicious and some of the best service we have ever had. The bed and breakfast in town served us the best pumpkin spice latte and homemade cinnamon rolls of our life! Every interaction we had was a pleasant one. We recommend bringing binoculars...we saw Elk, Mule deer and Bald Eagles with them. Anthony was very kind and helpful. The cabin was clean and organized very well. Thank you so much for sharing your magical place with us! 10/10 would recommend!!!

Cabin Relaxation

We had a great stay at the cabin in the sky. Beautiful location, and we loved just sitting on the deck watching the sunset and the beautiful stars come out. The cabin itself has the essentials, which is all we wanted. Do not plan to be entertained by TV or internet for an extended period. WiFi is available, but very limited. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy company with friends. We played bored games, and chatted into the night. We also enjoyed walking around and finding some hiking trails to explore nearby. The instructions to get to the cabin are a little intimidating at first (“turn at the second stop sign” means drive 10-15 miles before you hit two stop signs, which threw us off at first), but be sure to follow them. GPS will not get you to the cabin. Also definitely heed Anthony’s advice and arrive before dark. If you arrive after dark your chances of finding the place are slim to none. Overall, and absolutely gorgeous place to unplug and relax. The huge windows and views were amazing to enjoy each day.

The Perfect Base for a Colorado Rockies Vacation

If you're looking for a beautiful, invigorating, peaceful way to enjoy the Colorado mountains, while also having easy access to some of the state's most amazing sights, it'd be hard to do better than this. We stayed for one week in August and this is our summary: -The biggest draw for me that made this worth the price was the balcony with amazing views. We've traveled through 40 countries and 30 US states, and having breakfast on this balcony every morning, soaking in the views and the peace and quiet (accompanied by hummingbirds coming up for water) was an absolutely top shelf travel experience that alone could make a trip worthwhile. -Next biggest draw is the location. It's a great base to get a taste of what Colorado has to offer. Aspen and Maroon Bells and Pine Creek Cookhouse are a lovely, easy 1-hour drive (and change) away. The nearby town of Redstone is also a lovely place to spend a quiet day (the Detroit pizza place is excellent). And driving from and back to Denver, Vail & Breckenridge are easy stops for lunch and stretch breaks. -Anthony is a wonderfully responsive host -Nearby Carbondale is very convenient for groceries at City Market (we found everything we needed and more), gas, etc. -The house itself is beautifully designed and lovingly appointed. In all, absolutely worth it if all of the above sounds appealing to you. It's expensive, but worth every penny. Some additional stuff to note... -We went in summer with a car rental, sedan, 2-wheel drive. Everything turned out okay and we had no problems. But driving on the inclined gravel driveway took some getting used to and I wouldn't have minded a car with higher clearance for turning into and out of the driveway. Also on the one rain day we had, we ended up canceling a planned day trip to Paonia because I was concerned about the dirt roads the last mile and a half to the property. We would have probably been fine, but if you want added piece of mind, spring for an all wheel drive car. -Most amenities were available in abundance. The pantry in particular was excellent and we appreciated not needing to buy olive oil. Loved learning the french press coffee (we're converts!). But we did need to buy paper towels and came close to needing to buy more bath soap by the end. -It can get a little toasty in August without AC. One day of 7 was quite hot inside, but even that day was totally tolerable. You can open some windows and screen doors and let the mountain breeze in. A+

Hummingbird Heaven

Waking up to the Mountain View is both refreshing and rejuvenating. The hummingbirds on the deck soon became our close friends and the open layout of the cabin allowed us to drink in the view from all angles. We’re incredibly grateful we got to stay in “the cabin in the sky” it truly is a little slice of heaven.

Gorgeous but NO A/C as advertised

The views were amazing. The accommodations were average. The property says "Air Conditioning" in the "Amenities," so I didn't think to scroll down to the fine print and see that air conditioning meant "nature's air conditioning." That does not qualify for the feature of Air Conditioning. Because the house is 50% windows and no shades, we showed up to an 82 degree house, that did not cool down to 76 degrees until 9pm, with all of the windows open. This is not great if you have allergies. When we woke up, the house was at 68 degrees, but jumped up to over 77 as soon as the sun was up for an hour. We loved our stay here and thought Anthony was a nice guy. However, when I asked Anthony why he said there was A/C in the Amenities, he said he didn't realize the listing said that and he would have to update that. We've been gone for 3 weeks and it still says that. Like I said, Anthony is a pleasant guy. I'll never forget him showing up just in time to give my daughter and I a ride back to the cabin, when miscommunication led to us missing our ride back up the mountain with my son and husband, who were fishing in Beaver Lake - no cell phone coverage. That would have been an hour hike in the heat! I would definitely recommend staying here, but come with the mindset that there are some things missing - some Anthony alludes to in the listing, some you have to read in the fine print. So, here is a summary of what is not there, so you can fully enjoy your time here, without getting upset. Once I accepted this, we had a wonderful time and fully enjoyed ourselves. Missing: There is no AC and no shades, trash is bothersome - he recommends dropping it off to the various gas stations in town or meet him at his business for a large disposal, no satellite or cable (yes in the Amenities, but no in the fine print), stereo only works with your CDs (this is in the details), there is no dryer, so you have to hang your clothes in a the dark garage with no screen on door/windows here, so you can't have a breeze going through that area, pictures from the loft are provided ("3-story house"), with "use at your own risk," but Anthony didn't really want us up there, so no ladder was available - my son was disappointed. Also, the lights over the dining room quit working mid-week, but weren't fixed. Enjoy because it is so beautiful, but be prepared for the missing "amenities. I just think the listing needs to be updated to be more accurate. Great views!

Enjoyable vacation stay

We loved the view from the balcony and all of the amazing windows in the house, the dark skies at night stargazing and seeing shooting stars, the quiet surroundings, the many hummingbirds flying up to the feeder on the balcony, the unplugged family time, the hikes in the area. Homeowner communication was great and instructions clear. We disliked having to remove your trash to a dumpster (one is provided 40 minutes north but find your own if you’re headed south). I believe this was explained in the terms and conditions so I have no ground to stand on, it was just an inconvenience. We would be lucky and happy to return. Next time we would consider renting the entire house and have extended family join us.

Perfect Stay

The Cabin in the Sky was a great experience. First, I can't say enough good things about the owner, Anthony. He was incredibly responsive and clear in all communications. Definitely a first rate host. Second, the property is in a spectacular location. The views were amazing, and it is quiet. At night, with no ambient light, you'll get some great dark sky views. You will want to spend every moment on the porch taking in the scenery. The house is also located a few minutes from the trail to Crystal, as well as close to other hiking trails. If you are lucky enough to stay at the house from May - October, you can also get some of the best BBQ in CO in the town of Marble. As for the house itself, it was clean, comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with everything you needed to prepare a dinner. Overall, I would definitely stay there again. Highly recommended.

Cabin in the Sky

This is the second time we have stayed at the Cabin in the Sky in Marble. Anthony once again did an awesome job in making us feel right at home by sharing their incredible property. We have stayed at numerous VRBO properties all over the country and by far, this is the our most favorite destination of them all. The views from every window in the house are without a doubt breath taking. The cabin sits at around 8500' elevation and star gazing is a MUST! When you are sitting on the deck at night looking at the stars you feel like you are in outer space amongst billions of stars. The perfect location to catch meteor showers. Thanks Anthony once again for a fantastic vacation and sharing your incredible property!

BEAUTIFUL

This is a hidden gym, took my wife for our 2nd anniversary. The views are amazing, the trail just up the road takes you all the way to town and the lake. The sun rises at the top of the valley and sets at the back, perfect! We hope we can come back again, thank you.

Gorgeous Mountain Getaway

My fiancé & I spent 2 weeks tucked away in this absolutely stunning home (seriously, the pictures don’t do it justice) in August. We drove all the way from Texas with our well behaved pupper, so you can imagine how exhausted we were upon arrival but Anthony made the check in process so easy. He would call every few days to check on us, see if we needed anything or wanted any suggestions for nearby things to do (I recommend asking, he has a lot of great info!), and make sure the house was running properly. We are very glad he did this b/c neither of us realized that the egg (sulfate) smell to the water wasn’t suppose to be happening - we just assumed it was normal for a self-sufficient water system, but Anthony drove out to the house that day and flushed/cleaned out the filter. After that, the eggy smell went away, allowing us to enjoy the house to it’s full potential... Mornings were spent drinking coffee and reading on the balcony. Days were spent hiking and exploring nearby towns and trails. Evenings were spent cooking meals and cuddling under the stars. This was by far one of our favorite vacations to date and we can’t thank you enough, Anthony, for opening up your beautiful home and allowing others to experience this magical little town. We definitely plan on coming back!

Gorgeous cabin with truly spectacular views

The cabin is so beautiful and the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. Waking up every day to those spectacular views and stargazing each night was a true gift. It will forever be embedded in our memories. That alone deserves more than a 5 star rating. However, my rating is based on the issues we had with the amenities. I rented both the cabin and the studio for 5 days. I stayed in the studio and was not able to purchase groceries and cook as planned since the fridge was not working. I did notify Anthony of this really early on the 3rd day. And even though it is recommended to bring your own purified water to drink, which we did---the water was very stinky. It smelled of mold and the stench was the strongest in the studio. By the 3rd day, it was so bad, we used bottled water to wash our hands and brush our teeth for the rest of our stay. We did not feel clean after a shower. That should be a priority to look into that. There was a huge jug of purified water in the kitchen in the cabin, but it was not drinkable since it was full of gnats. The oven needs a detail cleaning. And the internet stopped working the last 2 days of our stay....I hate having to give some negative feedback but feel these issues should be expressed given what the price of the cabin goes for.

Unforgettable Stay

Our stay at The Cabin in the Sky exceeded all our expectations. Not only does it look exactly liked the pictures, but it is even more charming in person. The view is breathtaking and was the highlight of our stay. The place was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. The windows on every wall emphasizing the scenery allows you to constantly admire the views at every angle. The cabin had all the essentials we needed and the solar powered aspect was easy. As long as you are conscious of energy usage, you can hardly even tell it is solar powered. A perk of the cabin was the abundance of hummingbirds that frequent the feeder. The town of marble is quaint and charming. Would definitely recommend the BBQ place in town. A great hike nearby was at Avalanche Creek; it was a wonderful hike for all levels with amazing scenery. Overall, this was a unique and unforgettable experience. We loved our stay and the hosts were very helpful.

Gorgeous views and location

We stayed at the Cabin in the Sky this past weekend and had an absolutely wonderful time. Overall, the house was great. The location and views couldn't have been better. The house has large, gorgeous windows and a great deck to hang out on with views of Beaver Lake and most of Marble. And there was a wood burning stove, which was also a treat. The layout of the house is a bit odd as you have to walk through the garage to get into the house, and then through a bedroom that does not have a separate door for privacy or a bathroom on that level, and then up some stairs to get to the kitchen. On the floor that shares the kitchen there is one bathroom that you access by passing through the bedroom. It isn't ideal for privacy if you are staying with a few people for these reasons. The studio downstairs has its own kitchen and bathroom that is separate and private, which is nice. Overall, our group felt that things could have been cleaner as well. That was our only other criticism. Anthony was very informative, provided great instructions, and provided lots of sticky notes designating how to use things. We truly had a great time and felt the house was cozy and had the best views and met all of our needs for the weekend :)

Absolutely incredible!

The cabin in the sky was even better in person than in pictures. The views were stunning and accommodations, perfect. Anthony was over the top helpful and came to the rescue when we accidentally had a car battery die on us. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here, I cannot think of a better place to spend after hiking and exploring Colorado.

Why they chose this property

This house is in a spectacular location affording the best views away from traffic and obscured views in Marble. I was so inspired by the beauty that building it was a labor of love. The location provides complete rejuvenation and inspires a deep connection WITH FAMILY MEMBERS, PARTNERS AND FRIENDS. This house is in a location where your mind can relax without distraction from the outside world. How rare in this day and age! Pick any mountain/alpine experience and it is here to refresh and invigorate you.

What makes this property unique

First and foremost, this house offers unparalleled views compared to anywhere in Marble and is bathed in sun so it is a bright and uplifting location. Secondly, you can access almost any outdoor mountain activity by walking. Ski Marble peak, the marble ski area, fish the Crystal river, dine at the Redstone Inn, visit the Marble quarry, view Colorado wild flowers, kayak the crystal river, rock climb, ice climb, hunt for elk, grouse or deer. Take Scofield pass to crested Butte via 4 wd, Ski Aspen, Highlands or Snowmass, Attend Carbondale mountain fair, Listen to the classical music or Jazz at Aspen music festival, Dine at any of the incredible restaurants in Carbondale.Horseback riding is available in Redstone.
Also, certain months out of the year a natural, free, public hot springs on the crystal river is available. Secondly, Avalanche hot springs (also 25 min. from the cabin) offers geothermal hot springs for 12.00 for adults. Open from 8 am- 6 pm daily, year round.

Food preparation in the spacious kitchen is a pleasure. A dip in the river, a ski, a hike or just lazing about will allow you to appreciate what this cabin has to offer. My wife and I are certified Pilates and yoga instructors ( a Pilates 'reformer' is at the Cabin). Inquiries are welcome for private classes and our class schedule @ our studio in Carbondale. A new Frisbee golf course has been established in a park in down town Marble.
