About this property

Private Beach Access - Secluded, wildlife setting

The Fawn House is a delightful “tiny house” in the center of a very small, private salt water beach front community, surrounded by fields, forests, a creek, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The location, half way between Sequim and Port Angeles is at the end of a county road, where the wildlife habitat provides the perfect spot for the local deer herd to congregate. They rest on the lawn outside the home and feast on the fruit trees in the autumn months. You will see the new born “Bambi” fawns bounding up and down with glee during the spring season. They love this place, so any time of year is a good time to visit the Fawn House to watch the deer and other wildlife and birds that live all around this special spot.
The private beach access trail is a hike that draws people to our location. It is a five to ten minute hike down and through the wildlife habitat conservation area which is a deep gulley down to the magical, rain forest like section of McDonnell Creek which borders our property to the east. The creek which begins up in the majestic Olympic Mountains ends here at the bottom of our beach trail. It forms a calm and quiet lagoon where birds, fish and wildlife like the busy river otter can be viewed. From there, the peaceful lagoon where the deer come to drink the fresh mountain water spills out on to the rugged, rough and rocky salt water beach strewn with driftwood and logs that the storms have brought in. Seals and a variety of sea birds can be seen as you hike the beach toward the famous Dungeness Spit to the east or toward Port Angeles to the west. You may want to just find a log to sit on and be mesmerized by the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and pulling the rocks back into the sea. The colorful ships passing through the shipping lanes between the U.S.A. and Canada are fun to see, as are the closer fishing vessels and sail boats.
If the beach trail is too difficult for some, we have easier walking trails as well where look outs provide a perfect resting spot to enjoy the fantastic view and the colorful sunsets.
The Fawn House sleeps two on the short, queen size bed in the bedroom and two more on the sleeper/sofa in the main living area. There is one bathroom having a shower with skylight overhead. The full size refrigerator, propane stove, microwave oven and small washer/dryer lend themselves to your comfortable stay. An electric fireplace adds evening ambiance and the basic cable T.V. that we offer will be there if you need a little entertainment besides the WIFI.
Linens, pillows, blankets and towels are all provided for your convenience. Dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans and kitchen utensils are there if you choose to prepare a simple meal.
It is a twenty minute drive into either of the closest towns, both of which have numerous restaurant choices and grocery stores plus gift shops and other fun things to offer. If you need basic food items or you want to choose from a great wine selection, you will want to make the quick trip to the very near, neighborhood Agnew Grocery & Feed. They offer fun things to do and see such as farm animal viewing besides good groceries.
The Olympic Discovery Trail is a mile away, where you can ride a bike through the area on what used to be the old railroad line.

The Olympic National Park is a close drive from Port Angeles, up the mountain to Hurricane Ridge where on a clear day you will see spectacular, amazing views. There are many other places to go and sites to see in the area all within about an hour’s drive, such as crystal clear Lake Crescent and Sol Duc Hot Springs. For a day long trip further west, you can drive to the temperate Hoh Rain Forest and Pacific Ocean beaches and still return back to the snug and comfy Fawn House in the evening for a good night’s peaceful sleep.

Great base camp for exploring

Small, very well kept place to give you local beach access as well as short drives to the mountains and all the beaches in the area.

Quiet cozy stay

Enjoyed our quiet stay. Felt like we were the only ones there. Highlight was seeing all of the neighborhood dear. It was big enough for two people to stay comfortably. Over all enjoyed how quiet it was for sleeping and close enough to all the hiking and port angles for going out to dinner.

This properly is located inside of a mobile home community, and has access to a private beach, which was a beautiful serene space for us to hang out in :)

Peaceful and pleasant

The overall setting is wonderful. There are many close neighbors full time residents and then many units for guests. The view areas and beach trail are worth the walk and breathtaking experience. There is a small heard of deer and we were able to share time with the fawns and watch them frolic in their new experience of life.

Overall nice property

We enjoyed our stay in the area. The property was clean and comfortable, except would benefit from some AC. A small window unit is all that would be needed. We were disappointed to find a locked gate on the trail to the beach, which is prominent in the advertising.

Olympic Peninsula Adventure

Loved the amenities, peaceful and gorgeous location, binder was full of useful information and the Fawn House was spotless! First time i have booked a VRBO and wss very pleased. My husband acted as though he had never seen a deer before and in Wisconsin we have white-tailed deer not black. I snapped some beautiful sunset pictures from the lookouts and enjoyed the trails!

A birthday getaway

Came here for just a few days as a weekend getaway outside of the city for my partner’s birthday. Check-in process was easy and I appreciated all the clean linens available to us. The area was quiet and we enjoyed seeing the wildlife. We watched a beautiful sunset over the water one night and enjoyed the access to old movies (via cable) we haven’t seen in awhile! The location was ideal since our plan was to hike Mt Storm King one of the days we were visiting. We both had an amazing experience and would return!

Clean, Quiet & Cozy.

My wife and I stayed for a week and enjoyed it. The place is clean and cozy. Check-in and check-out were simple. Host was responsive when I reached out with a couple of questions. The setting was very peaceful and quiet. Private beach was great and it was nice to watch the visiting deer on the property. The central heat/air conditioning was out of order but there were space heaters and fans provided, although th weather was very temperate and comfortable while we were there. We very much enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Nice & quiet accommodations

We arrived to the Fawn House, with a deer & fawn in the yard. The area is a bit out of the way, but nice & quiet. It met our needs & had fast internet for our remote work. The nature trail to the beach on the East side, was beautiful. I would caution that it is quite steep & my husband slipped in one area. We stuck to the overlooks & other beach trail after that, and saw many deer as well as a beautiful sunset.

Tiny house with the deer

Please be aware this is in a modular home park with about 15 other structures. There is no privacy fencing nor structures separating these homes from each other. All are situated close together. Though the park is quiet people are very close by & privacy is an issue. You can easily see in your neighbor’s window.

Very cute and clean . Deer everywhere

This is a tiny house and it was very cute and clean . Hosts were quick to respond to any needs or questions. Reason I am giving 4 stars , is the microwave was not working and I think that should be told in advance . We had bought a lot of quick, microwave foods that went to waste or took longer on cooktop. Also weather was VERY hot and couldn’t use oven because of the heat, so a microwave would have been nice . We enjoyed our stay .

Amazing Host

I want to preface this review by saying due to car issues, I wasn’t actually able to stay here but wanted to post a review to say how amazing the host is and to not mess with their algorithm since I still had the stay booked. Margie was extremely responsive, helpful, and caring through the whole process. I wasn’t able to make it to the property due to car issues but the listing was very thoughtful and well put together. I inquired about bringing an emotional support animal along and she was very accommodating of the request. She was also quick to inform on if anything changed from the listing. I really wish I was able to stay at this property for it looks amazing and is in a wonderful location. I look forward to booking again and actually staying in the future.

We feel very fortunate to be able to live in one of the most beautiful and unique spots on the North Olympic Peninsula and to be able to share it with travelers seeking to experience the beauty and wonders of this special area. We are located on several acres of land, partially farmland, partially woodland on the high bank waterfront bluff along the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Our views are of the majestic Olympic mountain range to the south and of Vancouver Island, B.C. to the north. Having a wooded creek as our eastern boundary, we are able to provide the unique access pathway to the beach below. All of our several vacation rental homes enjoy the use of this same five minute hiking trail which is the most treasured feature of our properties. Wildlife abounds in this natural habitat where deer, eagles, river otter, seals and more are seen as an every day occurrence. We work daily at our other businesses where we sell home improvement products such as appliances, flooring, cabinets etc. We strive to have all of our vacation homes reflect our enthusiasm for inviting, quality interiors so that our guests feel truly welcome and at home while they stay in our homes.

Why they chose this property

We have lived on this acreage for many, many years and have gradually developed several vacation rentals on it over the past few years. We love this beautiful land and try to keep it looking it's best for everyone who comes to visit so that they will enjoy it as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

This spectacular location is incredibly secluded and private. It is quiet and therapeutic to hear the sound of waves crashing and the occasional fog horns from the passing ship traffic. When the deer stroll past the porch and nibble on the fruit trees, and the peacock comes by to check things out, it is like a storybook setting.
