About this property

Cozy Cabin Steps from RMNP

Welcome Home to Cozy Cabin in Estes Park! Originally built in 1935 as a summer bunk house for farm hands, it is surrounded by original farm buildings now turned to residences: farm house, barn, chicken coop, and tool shed.

Cozy Cabin retains its old world mountain charm with restored original hardwood floors, cedar wall accents, and split log siding. The updated family and couple's retreat has all modern conveniences necessary for a comfortable stay including a new kitchen, bathroom and energy efficient windows, one of which is a picture window allowing perfect views of the sunrise. Open year round, the heating units keep the cabin cozy even on chilly nights. Please plan to access the cabin with All/4 Wheel drive in the snowy months (November - May.)

Get away to this quiet retreat just steps away from Rocky Mountain National Park. Hike into Moraine Park or drive the 1.5 miles to the Visitor Center and South Beaver Meadows Entrance. Or shop the unique stores in quaint downtown Estes Park. In the evenings, relax under the pergola with a heater and 365 degree views of the mountains and watch for the family of deer that meanders through the property most days.

Looking for natural phenomenon travel? Spring brings calving season (elk, deer, bobcats, black bear) in and around RMNP. Summer is high season with all the hiking, trekking, rock climbing, family fun activities, horse back riding, Alpine sliding, driving Trail Ridge Road/Old Fall River Road... SOOO much to do! Autumn (Sept - Oct) is peak season to see the Aspen turn bright yellow as well as hear the Elk bugling. The Winter Holiday Season (November/December) offers one of the most quaint and premier shopping towns lit up with Holiday lights. And winter is perfect to get snowed in or to go sledding, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ice climbing, or our favorite, trekking the snow-packed trails with traction devices.

Quiet Cozy Cabin

Happy to find a wonderful place to call home base while hiking in Rocky Mountain NP. The location was close to many of the trailheads we used. Enjoyed watching deer walk by and bunnies nibbling on the ground and then sleeping under the car. We heard elk multiple times. The kitchen was more than adequate for the cooking of our meals. Ruth was fantastic to communicate with and shared many tips and tricks on visiting in the area.We would certainly stay here again if we find ourselves visiting RMNP for a second time.

Exceeds expectations

This is our second stay in the cozy cabin and we anticipate continuing to book this cabin annually if possible. The location is near the park entrance where we can go in and out without driving through town, the property is clean, communication from host is exceptional. Ruth (host) is exceptional at communicating with guests not only in regards to the cabin itself but additional information on area conditions and need to know information such as park passes. We can't wait to come back. 🙂

Cozy Cabin rocks!

Exceeded our expectations. Excellent location for easy access to RMNP. Quiet neighborhood; felt private even though you are next to a lot of cabins. Very nice, spacious kitchen. Well stocked with everything you could imagine. We really enjoyed our stay.

cozy cabin

Small cozy cabin perfect for two people. we did enjoy the proximity to the park and hiked in one day. The cabin is well stocked and in a quiet neighborhood. It is not as isolated as the pictures depicted but we had no issues. Do expect neighbors on all sides. The price was decent for the area and we would stay here again.

Great Stay

We had an excellent stay at the cozy cabin. It was prefect size for our family of five and dog. The scenery was beautiful, especially the views from the gazebo! We loved the location, very close to YMCA for kids camp, and close to town for restaurants and shopping. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to prepare our meals. It was cozy and had all the amenities needed. Ruth was so responsive to any questions we had. Thank you again!

Clean small cabin

This was a good cabin for our family for an extended weekend stay in Estes Park. We just needed a place to sleep since we had family in the area to spend time with during the day. It would have been a bit small to spend much time there for our family of 5. It was clean and a quiet, convenient location.

Great Stay at Cozy Cabin

A perfect location, only minutes from RMNP Bear Lake entrance! They were kind enough to send a reminder email to sign up for timed entry passes for the park and recommendations on where to go and what to see. Definitely cozy quarters for our family of five, but it worked out well. Would recommend this place to friends and family and would stay again!

Weekend getaway

The weekend was a getaway for our daughter's 12th birthday. We grilled out and had fantastic food our entire stay. It was easy to sign into our streaming subscriptions. There is a local grocery store just a few minutes away. We had a great lunch at The Stanley and the girls at Mary Jane Boutique gave our daughter a "Pretty Woman" experience trying on dresses.

Super cute cabin

This is our 15th year visiting Estes Park. This cabin is in a great spot with beautiful views and is close to everything we wanted to do. The road up to the cabin is pretty rough, but if your vehicle will make it, it's worth it! Our kids loved having Alexa play their favorite songs and loved being able to watch movies at night. All in all a great little home base for your adventures.

Great location

Great little property right outside RMNP and Estes! Great location, we saw wildlife everyday and the kids loved it! The heaters worked good so everyone had cozy nights of sleep. Only surprise to us was no traditional oven (missed that in the description) but the toaster oven and convection microwave made cooking meals doable!

Cozy cabin off the beaten path

The cabin is lovely and located outside of Estes Park, which means you get an even more beautiful view of the mountains on the drive in. It's very clean and we were glad the heaters worked well as we stayed during the cool fall weather. The kitchen isn't too well stocked if you're planning to cook a lot and the internet is slow if you're planning to work, but the beds are really comfortable and there's plenty of hot water. We didn't see elk but heard them bugling nearby every night! Our family would happily stay again on our next trip to Estes Park - thanks for sharing your lovely cabin!

Cute little Cabin

We enjoyed our stay at this cute little cabin. It had everything we needed during our extended weekend in Estes Park. The location was more than perfect. We had a bull elk come right down the mountain behind us the first night we stayed. We had several deer right in the yard one evening along with a large group of elk right below the cabin. My only recommendation for the property is the addition of a fire pit on the patio area. We enjoyed sitting out in the evening but it chilly quick. And if you're over 6" talk the shower will be difficult for you to fit in. All the ceilings are a bit low. We will definitely check the availability of this great place on our next trip!

About the host

Hosted by Ruth

Host profile image
My husband & I love to get away to this mountain retreat and have made many special family memories here with our two daughters, now adults. We never take for granted the amazing views, wild life, and natural experiences surrounding us. Our goal is to make these experiences available for other families and couples as well. We hope that you will enjoy reconnecting with family and nature's peaceful quiet.

Why they chose this property

My Great-Great Grandfather was a homesteader in Estes Park. Our branch of the family moved away from Colorado, but my father remembers spending summers in Estes park in the 1940's. Our Great Aunt Ruth, who lived in Estes Park most of her life, climbed Longs Peak dozens of times; the last time at the age of 68! When we and my parents moved to the area in the 1990's, we went in together to secure this cozy retreat where we could create inter-generational memories. In our completely unbiased opinion, Estes Park is the most beautiful year round vacation spot in the U.S.

What makes this property unique

Because the cabin faces Southeast, I love sitting in front of the picture window and watching the sun rise over the mountains. Likewise, the pergola offers stunning views at sunset with the clouds turning pink and orange all around. And on full moon nights, the heater chases away the chill as the moonlight bathes the surrounding mountains. The full kitchen and propane outdoor grill help to make life easy for us: eating dinner outside under the pergola is always refreshing. Most afternoons, a family of deer meanders through the property on their way down the mountain. A family of Bobcats has a den on Eagle Cliff Mountain above our cabin and sometimes parade their kittens past the cabin. The location is unbeatable for walking/driving into RMNP or getting to downtown Estes Park. Even getting snowed-in is restful, quiet, and cozy with heaps of blankets, books, board games, and streaming movies.
