Cabins Out Back - Roost. A Quiet Get-A-Way In The Texas Hill Country

The Roost has two sleeping areas, large front porch and cozy back porch

Come to the heart of the Hill Country in Fredericksburg...a place you can unwind from the city life. The fresh air and the star gazing are magnificent. See the wildlife of deer, wild birds, squirrels and our 20 pastured chickens. We are only 10 minutes from downtown, but yet you feel like you’re in another world.

Fire up the Keurig coffee maker to brew your morning coffee or tea. A full home-cooked breakfast will be delivered to your cabin between 8:30-9:00 am. Please note that we will not be able to serve breakfast on Thursday mornings Jan-May 2024. This is reflected in the Wednesday nightly rate.

The 'Roost' is a ~450 square ft. cabin with a king-sized bed downstairs and two twin-sized beds in the loft area. The cabin sleeps four. The cabin has a Kitchenette which includes a fridge and microwave. There is a bar to dine at or take your food to the front or screened-in back porch and enjoy your meal while you take in the outdoors. It also has a flat screen TV.

Hill Country Heaven!

Perfect getaway weekend. Cabins are cozy and so functional- stocked with everything we needed and situated with beautiful views. Breakfast was ABOVE AND BEYOND our expectations- delicious and filling for our full Fredericksburg days. A perfect stay!!

Another great trip from the Cabins Out Back!

This was my second visit, and I loved it just as much. It’s nice getting away from Main Street and being able to sit on a quiet patio at night to lure one of the friendly kitties over for pets.

The Perfect Escape

This city family needed a vacation. The Cabins Out Back was the perfect answer! From our boys collecting eggs that got served to us in spectacular breakfasts to the evening porch cocktails, we settled right into country living. The location put us right in between town and the best wineries and other activities (like canoodling with elephants). AND, Jason was beyond charming and responsive. We are making plans to return! To date, one of our best ever family vacations and one we still talk about.

Amazing Piece of Heaven

Super cute cabins! Screened in back porch or open front porch. The bed was so comfy! Quiet and peaceful...a little piece of Heaven! The breakfast was amazing! Jason is a great chef and so hospitable! Every night we talked about what breakfast might be! Fresh eggs from the chickens! Fresh fruit amd fresh sqeezed orange juice! We loved watching the chickens! Absolutely amazing! Beautiful place

Absolutely amazing!!!

The cabin was just adorable! It is so cozy, the decor is wonderful, and super clean! It has a great screened in patio where we ate breakfast and watched the deer. Loved the front porch! We would sit in the rockers and light the chiminea. The breakfasts were fabulous! Jason is wonderful, so easy to work with and so kind. I can’t say enough about this place. Definitely recommending to friends and family and can’t wait to go back myself!

Country Heaven

This is my second time staying here the first i stayed at the Nest and this time i stayed at the roost...i think i will always plan my vacations here because i just feel so at home here. Its peaceful, relaxing and i love watching wildlife , Jason is great and always very prompt when you ask questions or need help, rhe land itself and the chickens i just love it here. Ladies weekend

This is a great place to stay with family or friends. It is very quiet but close and convenient to Fredericksburg. The beds were super comfy! We did not use the upper loft but it looked comfy as well. We were gone throughout most of the day, but it was great to come back to relax! The kitchen amenities were great, but we ate out most meals except for breakfast that was served by the host which was VERY good! Nothing but good things to say about the cabins out back. We look forward to staying again some day!

Great Place!

We will definitely come back! Cabin was very clean and had everything we needed! It was a great size for my husband, my 3 month old and I. They even left the lights on for us the first night, since we were arriving late. The breakfast, quiet location and porches were some of my favorite things! Really...the breakfast! It was the icing on the cake!

Perfect Getaway!

Jason was such an amazing host with the best recommendations and made the most delicious breakfasts with fresh eggs from chickens that roamed the property! Our friends stayed in the Nest cabin next door, which was so fun and convenient. The cabins were close to town and just a short drive from Enchanted Rock. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Fredericksburg and hope to return some day!

Amazing property

We stayed in The Roost for 4 nights and could not ask for a better rental. The house was perfect for our family of 4. Our kids loved the roosters that roamed the property and we enjoyed seeing the deer every evening. Jason is very friendly and makes an incredible breakfast every morning which is brought to your rental. We loved everything about our stay and would love to come back next year! I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to make memories with their kids.

I was born and raised in West Texas. After 15 years in corporate retail in the DFW area, I’m leaving the big city for Fredericksburg. I’m excited to take over the Cabins Out Back from my parents, Steve & Glenda, and continue their tradition of hosting delightful stays and delicious breakfasts!
