About this property
Port Talbot Shore Stay
This completely renovated cottage at Port Talbot is on Lake Erie, just 20 minutes west of Port Stanley. It is one of 3 homes located on this 400 acre property called the Port Talbot Estates. You will have lots of privacy as each house is well spaced away from each other.
This luxury cottage has it all and is steps away from a beautiful Lake Erie beach.
Locally, St. Thomas and Port Stanley have plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, breweries and local museums for you to explore!
The space
We've provided everything you'll need! Enjoy a fully furnished space, kitchen and bathroom. The bedroom features a king bed, lots of storage and laundry. Both sofa's pull out for extra sleeping areas if you require more room.
Muskoka chairs on the expansive deck invite you to enjoy the surreal views, surrounded by a barrier free deck overlooking beautiful Lake Erie.
There are plenty of walking trails on and around the property that you are welcome to explore. Inside of barns are not accessible but feel free to tour around the outside of them. There is a beach volleyball area and football field sized open area that is perfect for well behaved dogs, exercise, Frisbee, etc. There is also an inlet where the Talbot Creek and Lake Erie meet. Some locals canoe and kayak on the Talbot Creek so there may be additional people enjoying the area. You are welcome to swim and play in Lake Erie but be mindful of the ever changing water levels, temperatures, lake currents and undertows. There is no lifeguard on site and any water activity is at your own risk.
Guest access
Located right on Lake Erie shore! You enter a private, gated, tree filled, laneway. You'll drive past a multitude of barns, the White House and the Captains Chalet as you make the 1.2 kilometre drive down to your private Shore Stay cottage. Park in your designated parking area and open your car door to the peaceful sound of the waves. The cottage is accessed by a short walk across a lawn.
The beach at Port Talbot is in a very natural state. Driftwood, sand and rocks are deposited and removed by the lake at will and we do not try to maintain it. We have in the past and have found fighting Mother Nature is a futile task that we generally lose. So, we gather up all the driftwood in the spring for a spring cleaning and then let the lake do what it will for the rest of the year. It can be difficult to walk on somedays and then on other days pristine.
Other things to note
The shower stall is pretty small.
As we are currently dealing with a Covid pandemic, we are following the guidelines and implementing the rules as they are released. Please determine if your group fits the current restrictions.
Due to the lack of internet providers in the area the internet service is limited. Speeds may fluctuate and it also may completely not work as it is based on Xplornet Satilite and weather affects it.
