About this property

Great Views! Lg. Jet-Tub, King Bd, Shufflebrd, Backyard Snow Sledding, Generator

WELCOME
Welcome to our beautiful, peaceful, open and bright cabin nestled in the peaks of the Sierra Mountains. The unobstructed 50-mile views of the surrounding uninhabited forest and distant peaks beyond are sure to captivate you while you enjoy a complimentary glass of wine. Enjoy a meal on the deck, engage in a game of shuffleboard, cozy up around the wood burning stove or soak in the oversized jetted tub. Your stay at Pine View Lodge should be pleasantly quiet as we are located on a quiet road with no neighbors in the back. During the winter, have fun sliding down the backyard slope with provided snow saucers! There are many options for entertainment, relaxation and opportunity to take in the surrounding beauty without ever leaving the property. A generator assures there won't be interruption in the comfort and fun of your vacation.

However, if you desire, further adventures await as this property is only minutes from quaint towns, wineries, rivers, lakes and ski resorts. We are only a few minutes from the Stanislaus River, Arnold, CA and Calavaras Big Trees.

HANDICAP FRIENDLY
We are one of only a handful of properties having no stairs to navigate to the front door. The driveway pulls right up to the front door. There is a queen room on the entry-level floor making it easy to enjoy the house without climbing stairs. Access to the great views from the backyard deck also requires no stairs or steps. The house is handicap and wheelchair friendly. Elderly individuals will find the home easy to navigate and enjoyable to vacation in.

KITCHEN
The kitchen is larger than most cabin kitchens making it easy to cook large meals and serve large families. The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, cooking ware, and a shelf of spices.

OUTDOOR BACK DECK
There is also an outdoor propane BBQ for those who want to BBQ while taking in the great views. Full set of BBQ utensils are provided.

KING ROOM
The King Room is situated upstairs with its own private balcony looking out over the forest tree tops giving an unobstructed 50-mile view down the Stanislaus Valley. The room is decorated in a fly fishing theme and features antique bamboo fly rods and a 4' x 6' stained glass window of the Stanislaus river valley. The indoor sitting area allows you sip your first cup of coffee while taking in the great views. Or, if the weather is agreeable, you can sit out on the balcony to also enjoy the great pine aroma. The upstairs bathroom has dual sinks, additional counter space, glass shower, and an oversized jetted-tub.

QUEEN ROOM
The Queen Room is downstairs with its own bathroom and can appeal to either older or handicapped individuals who want to avoid climbing stairs.

EVENING ACTIVITIES
During the evenings you can gather around the outside fire pit to listen to the crackling fire for memorable family memories. Or if the weather dictates, gather inside around the wood-burning stove and sip hot chocolate. There are also board games and toys for the kids to enjoy.

WI-FI and DIGITAL MEDIA
Our Wi-Fi runs at 450+ GB/sec. You can use the private desk area to catch-up on last minute work items or download your favorite movies or songs. We also have a new LG Smart TV & DVD player with a wide selection of movies for kids, families, or adults. Most movies are rated either G or PG. Recently, we added an Xbox system. Please be sure to bring your own Xbox discs.

SNOW SEASON
There is no need to pack up the car and travel somewhere to enjoy the snow. During the snow season, many families stay at the home and use the sloping backyard hillside to build their own sled runs. During the snow season of 2023, the sled run was more than 100 feet long. Kids, and parents alike, enjoyed it immensely. We have many sleds and saucers available for use for free. There is a mud-room where snow-covered kids can change into warmer clothes without trampling snow and debris throughout the cabin.

POOL - GAMES - ETC
We also belong to the Big Trees Village HOA (3 minutes away) where you have access to swimming pools, Foosball, pong pong, shuffleboard, billiards, air hockey etc. Check times and seasons for when they are open.

When its time to book a get-a-way, we hope you choose The Pine View Lodge.
I always have a complimentary bottle of wine on the counter awaiting your arrival just to say "Welcome".

Nestled in the Trees
We are a couple of seniors who love Calaveras County. Gary's house was the perfect place to feel the wonderful sense of being surrounded by nature. The house is well equipped for cooking, good TV reception, and Bluetooth speakers for listening to your favorite music. There is a great map of the area where Gary has marked favorite spots to visit and how many minutes it takes to get there. We spent an afternoon in Murphys where we wine tasted and dined at V's. Calaveras Big Trees park is close by and the North Grove hike is an easy walk. Picnicking at Alpine Lake was another highlight. We had a delicious dinner at Sarafina's Italian Kitchen in Arnold. Gary is a wonderful and attentive host.

Such a Beautiful, well equipped home!
Some friends and I stayed and totally relaxed in this beautiful cabin, we only wished it could have been longer, ha ha! It was filled with every amenity you could think of, which was so appreciated. The views were absolutely amazing. I especially love the stained glass window in the master bedroom. I stayed in the loft on the trundle bed and every morning when I woke up, the sun would be shining through the Stain glassed window, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone. It is well equipped with movies and games and it even had an adorable little reading nook closet for kids that had all of us thinking to ourselves that if we were just a little younger, we would be crawling in there, to read a book. ; ) Overall, Gary & Cathy were the most attentive hosts we have ever had at a VRBO. :)

"When can we come back?"
That's what our kiddo asked as we were packing up. Which shows how well our family vacation went. The cabin is AWESOME, everything is as described and WORKS. We've stayed at places where it's not and the host will ghost you as soon as you check in. Not here. Gary is an excellent host- he checked in with us, is knowledgeable about the area, and responsive! It's nice to communicate with a real human! The cabin is absolutely the perfect home away from home. We can't wait to go back!

Wonderful!
Our family of four had a wonderful weekend here as our base camp for skiing in Bear Valley. We arrived to find 18+ inches of fresh snow and the kids spent hours sledding and playing on the hill behind the house. Apres-sledding/skiing we all enjoyed the indoor jacuzzi. The host touched base with us before we arrived to update us on snow conditions and checked in during our stay as well. So nice to have a reliable human and not a useless rental company! The view was beautiful and it felt very relaxing to look out the windows into forest. The house has plenty of TP and paper towels as well as basics like salt, ketchup, and tea. For snow, there were shovels at the front door and plenty of sleds. Overall layout was nice as well. We would stay here again.

Snow playground!!
Our stay was fabulous!! The cabin was clean, comfortable and had all the basic necessities. The tub in the upstairs bathroom was AMAZING!! There so many games, puzzles and books! We had plenty of activities to occupy our time. We ended up having a pretty snow fall the couple days we were there and the scene was beautiful and so serene! My son (3 yo) had so much fun sliding down the snowy hill. Communication with Gary was great! There was a problem with booking and he called me directly to clarify details which was much appreciated instead of just cancelling my reservation. We plan to visit the Camp Connell Cabin again!

Great winter stay
We enjoyed the property and the sledding hill in the back yard. The host was responsive and assisted with a few issues we had. Be sure to bring chains. They cleared the driveway but the streets were not cleared after it snow (probably because it was on a weekend and holiday). The views were amazing and our children enjoyed the large tub.

Gorgeous Property and Views
We loved this home and the location. It's remote yet close enough to shopping, and was a great "home base" to explore this part of California. The house is awesome and had everything we needed for our week long stay. One member of our party has cerebral palsy and uses a walker. It was easy for him to get around the house and the deck. I would have been happy just staying at the house and not going anywhere. The view is so incredible and peaceful! Gary was a great host and quick to respond to any messages. Highly recommend!

Host profile image
My wife and I live in South San Jose and absolutely love to get out of the bay area to the trees and rivers that adorn the Arnold and Dorrington area. We love hosting other families to enjoy the excellent mountain views and towering tree lines surrounding the cabin. I am an avid fisherman so I took this opportunity to decorate the master bedroom in a fly-fishing theme. My wife decorated the lower bedroom to appeal to a softer demeanor. Both rooms are pleasant and comfortable.

Why they chose this property

This neighborhood is situated at the top of the mountain providing 50-mile views of the Stanislaus national forest and neighboring snow-covered mountains. This special property is a perimeter lot where it borders the national forest, creating unobstructed views with few neighbors. The other cabins are far enough away to give you a feeling of privacy and solitude.

What makes this property unique

Most driveways in the area are steep and typically one-way, making it difficult and sometimes dangerous navigating it in the snow or rain. Our pull-thru driveway is flat and pulls straight up to the front door. This means you pull in from one direction and drive forward back out to the main road. You'll be thankful that there is no need to back-up down a steep driveway. You'll also be glad that there are no stairs to climb as you unload your car and carry your luggage into the home. The street we are on is mostly private, with little to no traffic. There is more foot traffic than car traffic. This makes it safe for children and adults, alike. Special care was taken when designing this home, ensuring a great number of windows to let in natural light and the beautiful surroundings. A most noteworthy design element is the 6' x 4' stained-glass window in the master bedroom, designed by a local artist depicting the Stanislaus River and forest. It is a one-of-a-kind work of art. The sloped backyard is perfect for sledding. Every snow season, families staying at the cabin have commented that they prefer to build a sled run going down the backyard slope rather than pile in the car and head up Hwy-4 where the crowds gather to play in the snow. From the cabin, you can sit by the fire and drink coffee while watching the kids play in the snow from the living room window. There is a master bedroom balcony that provides even better views. The loft has a game table, a plethora of board games, a DVD player, and a 50" LG Smart TV for gathering the family together to view movies and eat popcorn. This year, 2023, we are adding an outdoor fire pit with seating, along with a cornhole game. And, in the unlikely event that things get stressful, you can always relax in the jetted-tub located in the master bathroom.
