Ed & Tom are proud to be the owner-occupants of this wonderful and historic property, the Edward G. Miner House. We're both professionals, Ed's a retired teacher and Tom's a Realtor. As owner-occupants of a furnished 8-apartment historic property here in Rochester, we truly enjoy hosting guests, and getting away to travel/explore a few times/year and appreciate quality, clean accommodations in safe, easy to walk/ride locations where we can explore parks, good restaurants, and local culture.
Why they chose this property
We were drawn to the Edward G. Miner House because of it's history, handsome design, and location in Rochester's East Ave Historic District really close to fun/vibrant Park Ave and Neighborhood of the Arts.
Edward G. Miner, who originally built the property in 1906 (designed by noted architect Claude Bragdon) was a successful businessman and philanthropist. He came to Rochester from Illinois to help his brother run a family business and transformed the Pfaudler Company into an international operation. His commitment to the Rochester community was evidenced in his early leadership as president of Rochester’s Chamber of Commerce, trustee of the University of Rochester for more than 40 years, chairman of the UofR’s Board of Trustees from 1938 to 1945, and in the legacy that is the Edward G. Miner Library at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The design of this mansion by Claude Bragdon is uniquely proportioned, functional, well built, and worthy of maintaining and restoring. It's very similar in design to the original Rochester Police Precinct buildings.
And you can't beat this location: easy walk or bike ride to shops, restaurants, museums, and attractions in the Park-East-NOTA neighborhoods. And we are about 10-15 minutes away from everything around Monroe County. We are so happy to be custodians of this wonderful historic house in an amazing location!

What makes this property unique
We think you'll really enjoy what we love about living at 2 Argyle Street! The vibrancy of city living close to activities and restaurants, meeting friends and family on awning side porch and spacious side yard during Rochester's comfortable spring-summer-fall months, the amazing light through many historic original windows that highlight so many architectural details, and the conveniences from an completely updated kitchen and bathroom. And we have quiet, considerate, & friendly neighbors. Often guests ask if others are living here! We hope you'll come to love what made us fall in love with this house.
