About this property

Cozy Swedish-Style Cabin... Our Specialty is in the Details!

Built by Stefan Nilsson, this little “doll house” was completed in July of 2005. Inspired by Stefan's Swedish heritage, this adorable cabin has typical Swedish siding stained forest green, with natural spruce trim.

The cabin is in a quiet wooded setting, located 5-10 minutes away from Seward's activities; yet our guests can still stay connected to the rest of the world with free wireless internet service!

The inside comfortably sleeps 4 guests, having a queen-sized bed in a cozy alcove, two twin beds up in the sleeping loft, and a sitting area to relax in. A full bathroom is located near the back entrance.

The kitchenette has a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. Next to the kitchen, a custom-built breakfast nook affords spectacular views of Mt. Eva and her hanging glacier. Rich wood details, from the tongue and groove ceiling to the colorful stained beams, adorn the inside of the cabin.

The finish carpentry, as well as the unique colors on the walls, beams, and interior door make this cabin a work of art.

Keywords: A custom built cabin, with Scandinavian details. Cozily tucked in amongst the towering Sitka Spruce trees with spectacular views of Mt. Eva.

Beautiful little cottage
This was the perfect stay for my family of 3. The cottage was so comfortable and clean and close to town but with the feel of being in the country. An amazing view out of the sliding door of mountains. Owners were fantastic and even made use the yummiest cookies. Would definitely go back

Great Stay
The property listing was accurate and fulfilled our needs nicely. Everything was very clean and in order. We would have liked to have had a stove but there was an electric fry pan. That's all we really needed. The electric fry pan should be added to the amenities if it will always be available. It was close to Sewerd and had a nice view of the mountains between the trees. It was fairly priced.

Lovely cabin and close to Seward
We loved staying at this charming cabin and enjoyed meeting the host, Binget, who greeted us with freshly baked delicious cookies. Check-in was seamless, the location was great and only a short drive from the dock where we caught our tourboat, the cabin was very clean, had everything we needed, and the whole experience couldn’t have been better. Would definitely stay there again!

Amazing Experience!
This cabin was absolutely amazing! We enjoyed our stay! The property owner was so very sweet, and the attention to detail was awesome. We even had fresh wild flowers in vases. The unit was very clean, and the beds were quite comfy. Our family of 4 (mom, dad, teen son, and kid daughter) all fit well without issue. The travel time into Seward or KFNP was pretty quick. I highly recommend this rental! Hands down, this was one of the best rental experiences we’ve ever had.

Cozy, Clean, and Safisticated.
We found this warm and inviting space excellent across the board. Our early check in request was granted with ease and we were suprised to have a bowl of warm cookies waiting for us on the counter and fresh cut wild flowers throughout the cottage. Special features include a sleep number bed, a tankless water heater, and a personal code for easy access with no keys or lock box. Although it resides on the owners peoperty, we felt secluded.

Wonderful cozy cottage
From sleep number beds to super clean and creative floor plan this place had it all! Was the best night sleep we ever had in a rental! Fresh flowers in everything room, homemade cookies and great conversations with the hosts! It’s just outside of Seward tucked in a neighborhood heavily wooded we felt like we were in a cabin in the woods all by ourselves. This place was so clean and cozy! So many cute little details made us feel like we won the jackpot! A fun two night stay and great homebase for visiting Seward.

Beautiful location and outstanding host
Seward is a breath taking town and the property is on a beatiful creek and lovely mountain view. Binget has thought of everything. They are a lovely couple. They helped us to find a great home for our family. If I was to be back to Seward I would differently choose this cottage again. Don't miss the short walk to the creek and mountain over look.

Inaccurately described — guesthouse, not a cabin in the woods.
This guesthouse is cute and well appointed, but the listing is 100% misleading about its location. You are in someone’s backyard less than fifty feet from their back porch. Not relaxing and not private, and it is not adequately described in the listing.

Cozy cabin in Seward
Binget greeted us warmly with fresh-baked cookies and a cute personalized welcome sign when we arrived at their cabin tucked in the back of their property. The skillful workmanship and attention to details can be seen throughout the cabin. Basic amenities were all provided, including plenty of hot water for a nice shower after exploring Seward on a cold and wet day. We felt comfortable here, even though this was the smallest vacation rental property we have ever stayed in. In place of a microwave, there is a new toaster oven. The kitchenette is small, but we made use of the electric frypan to cook some delicious salmon. The location is great for Seward, and overall we had a lovely stay.

Our stay at this location was most pleasant. It was comfortable and clean. Our hostess was very agreeable to us making a date change. She made a point to come say hello, ask if we needed anything and give us homemade cookies. This was a very safe location and quiet.

Beautiful Backyard Cabin
We have stayed at a number of rental units in our travels and this one is one of our favorites. The unit is heated by a wood burning stove, and the sleep number bed is very comfortable. Hot water was instantaneous and constant when showering as well. Our hosts even gave us some homemade bread during our stay. The location just outside Seward provided a nice quiet base for exploring everything the area's immense natural beauty had to offer. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Every little detail taken care of by hosts!
We loved staying this beautifully crafted cabin tucked back in the woods, but with mountain views from back deck! Attention was given to every detail, from a small radio receiver (think vintage) to lovely stained wood beams. The linens were very nice, especially on the Sleep Number bed.

About the host

Hosted by Stefan and Binget Nilsson

Host profile image
Stefan and Binget Nilsson are your hosts along with their three children, Kjell (born 1999), Bjorn (born 2002), and Annika (born 2004). They moved to Seward in February of 1996. Binget grew up in Kenai, Alaska and spent many years fishing salmon on the banks of the Kenai River. After finishing college at the University of Washington in Seattle (1990), she put her pack on her back and went travelling down to New Zealand. In February of 1990, Stefan and Binget met on a bus (“The Magic Bus”) on the South Island of New Zealand and fell in love. At the end of the trip, neither thought they would see the other again. But it was God’s plan that they be together, and through interesting circumstances (and a helpful German friend!), they finally decided to be together and were married September 19, 1992 in Kenai. Your hosts love living in Alaska with their little ones, and appreciate the great outdoor opportunities that abound in the Seward area. Binget has a history in mountain climbing and has extensive knowledge of the trails and mountains in and around Seward. If you love to hike, bike, run the trails, or climb some of the local peaks…she can point you in the right direction! Stefan’s big love is hunting and fishing. He will be able to tell you the right lake or river for Dolly Varden, Rainbows, and Grayling...and he may even share his secrets about what the halibut and salmon are biting in Resurrection Bay ! They are excited to be able to share their outdoor experiences with you.

Why they chose this property

We love living out of town in our little neighborhood called "Old Mill Subdivision". There are towering Sitka Spruce trees throughout the subdivision that house Bald Eagles and a myriad of other birds, as well as the pesky squirrels that chatter away when you get too close. As well, you may see the occasional moose, porcipine, and black or brown bear wander through the area. The quiet life and gorgeous views are what suits our lifestyle in this area.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy having the river run through our neighborhood, which occasionally will have trout and salmon swimming. The hiking trails and berry picking in the Fall right outside our door is another plus for our family.
