Family get away
The house easily lived up to expectations. We especially enjoyed the evenings sitting out on the deck where we saw deer, red tailed hawks, and many friendly people out walking their dogs. It was a nice neighborhood for walking. The interior was comfortable and well maintained.

Relaxing
The house is much nicer than pictured - roomy and light in the LR, DR, kitchen and bathroom. Very comfortable to hang out in. . It is well-stocked and the kitchen was nice to cook in- especially given we cooked in much more than normal. There is a big family room downstairs with a pool table. It is 3–4 blocks to the lake. Easy for adults. I would stay there again if we returned to the enjoyably.

Roomy and Comfortable
Bob’s home is lovely and has plenty of larger, comfy beds for you and your guests. The basement is amazing for kids and for just spreading out. The property was meticulously cleaned before we arrived. Ample toilet paper, paper towel and anything else you don’t want to worry about. My kids complained about the walk to the beach; it did seem like a hike with all the stuff, but I enjoyed the exercise and it really wasn’t bad. Overall, not a super beachy neighborhood, but close enough.

Spacious Property, Updating Needed for Guest Use
This is an affordable, spacious property. It is good for families that need to space and home amenities (kitchen, washer/dryer, etc.) It had all of the basics - plates, cups, cooking utensils, towels, etc. There were actually 4 bedrooms (one in the basement). The finished basement is spacious and has a pool table. Areas that were not ideal - the home had a musty/unpleasant smell around the entrance and bedrooms, many of the home items are well-loved and could use updating (threadbare sheets in master, kitchen chairs with wobbly legs tied together, older TV, furniture, decorations, etc.). In the listing, the beach seemed to be closer than it was - it is really like a 10 min walk on streets to get to Sheridan Beach (unless there is another secret way we were not aware of - there were no instructions). There is a beach shuttle with a stop near the property if you can coordinate to use this - it is more ideal than walking, especially if you have kids. There is not very much walkable from the property if that is something that is important to you. Communication with the property owner needs to be on phone, emails were not responded to. He did answer the phone when called. Opportunities that would be helpful that we've experienced at other VRBO properties - it would be helpful if there was a binder that had local information, how to get to the beach, local restaurants, etc. Also, since it is near a beach, having beach chairs, toys, umbrella, etc. would improve the usability of the property with families. Tips: We were able to have groceries delivered to the house with Shipt, this was really great! They got there when we arrived. We tried the new local Jamaican restaurant - it was great but is cooked to order (slow) and is very spicy. Other restaurants my family loved - Bentwood Tavern and (New Buffalo) - great food and kids menu. Sat on the deck and watched the boats. Sophia House of Pancakes - delicious breakfast and very big portions (share). Oinks ice cream - visited a few times to try different flavors (cash only, busy). Other activities and day trips they loved: we visited the local miniature horse farm, Washington park zoo, Sheridan beach, warren dunes, kayaking in new buffalo on papaw river, exploring St. Joes and beach. Nice area and lots to do.

Great stay at the lake!
We had a very nice stay in Michigan City. The house was exactly as described. It was nice to enjoy a new cooling system....never needed to go below 75degrees. We used the table on the deck and enjoyed a few deer sightings. The lake front was a pleasant walk with only one significant dune to climb. A few times we needed to carry the 3 year old . The house had a few toys which we enjoyed but no kids games....several good ones for adults. We discovered several nice parks , an excellent coffee shop and the Outlet Mall. There is a nice smart TV upstairs. There is internet service (very slow) and a larger screen TV plus movies downstairs. All in all, we were very satisfied.

Spacious, Fun, Great Location!
I can't say enough nice things about Bob and Sue's Beach house! There was PLENTY of room for my family of 5, plus room for my mom to stay with us, too. The pool table was a real hit, and the nearby beach was FAB!!! The house provided ALL of the necessities and some things you might not think of (including a blender, cheese cutter, plenty of pitchers, an ice maker, books and games, a toddler bed, etc.). The property was in great shape: clean, well-kept, in a nice area. Bob was wonderful to work with and got back to us with all of the information we needed - and great directions to the house. I would totally recommend renting here. Absolutely. 100%! We would LOVE to come back again!

We had a nice week!
Our holiday was so nice. We are visitors from Germany (four persons) and the cottage is very beautiful. We felt very comfortable. The owners were so kind to us. We will retain fond memories of the time. Thank you for all. Fam. Schultz

Comfortable and roomy, very nice owners!
Ok, first of all I must say the pics on here do NOT do this house justice. They look ok but dont give you a real idea of just how wonderful this house is. I have not one complaint. The rooms are nice sized, the beds are comfortable and you dont need to bring a thing except yourself, a camera, and food! The owners met us there, gave us the tour, and then left us alone the whole week so we had the utmost privacy. The kitchen has everything you need and although there is a nice table to eat at inside we ate every meal out on the deck (except the one night it stormed then we ate in the fun room downstairs and watched a movie). This is a great family house (it even has a toddler bed in one of the rooms). Be sure to vistit Washington park beach and zoo while you are there (only $6 entrance). Also they even provided beach towels even though we brought our own we will know for next time that is one less thing we have to pack. There is a washer and dryer so we didnt go home with any dirty clothes. Cant wait untill next year and pray that the Bob and Sue are still renting... Thank you for a great stay

A very pleasent stay by the lake.
The house was as promised, well kept and in a quiet setting. The rooms were large with good furnishings. The property itself was in pretty good shape and the equipment all functioned as it should. All in all an "A".

The owners of this house are the original ones and this place was also built by the owner in 1991 as their own summer vacation place too. Search high and low and if you see anything like this place, you will want to stay here and save some money. You will find that many places cost and charge a lot more for any place like this one. This is a turn key home. That means this house has everything just like your own home. So just bring the things you want to wear and the food you want to eat or drink. We respect you and your families vacation as a time to refresh yourselves and hope you enjoy everything this beautiful home and beach area has to offer. Please contact me by text / email here at Homeway. I am the owner, and I will answer any questions you have about your stay with us...Thanks. Bob De Vincentis

Why they chose this property

This is a very unique architectural place and is very well liked by the people who stay here you feel right at home and many people have returned year after year making it their own summer retreat place. This is a non-smoking house and we do not allow pets.

What makes this property unique

Save $$$ read this please. People have said they feel like the place is theirs and are right at home. You don't have to own a summer place everything is already done for you. Again just bring what you to want to wear and the food you want to eat. Or just go out to many restaurants in the area. Again this is a non smoking house and we do not allow pets. Sleeps a maximum number of 6 people only, no exceptions. Their is a laundry room down washer and dryer stairs with soaps . We simply ask you wash the towels you use and strip the bed linens only off the beds you use before you leave. Thank you and then fold these items after drying them and leaving them on table outside the laundry room. You are not required to remake the beds. Please clean up after yourself in the kitchen as we provide a dish washer and soap and basically ask you clean up after yourself and leaving the house in the same condition you found it. Please also take out the garbage and use the cans provided in the carport. Then take the cans to the end of the driveway off on the soft grass area Sunday night for pick up early Monday morning or take out the cans on the day you leave to the same area on the day you leave if is not Sunday.
