The cabin is part of a 450-acre farm and is very private offering a mountainous serene setting. Furnished with period antiques and luxurious linens and bedding. Cozy up to the outdoor stone fireplace and lay back for star gazing. Only 25 minutes to fine dining, entertainment, and the Roanoke Regional Airport.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The attention to detail in keeping the restoration true with the amenity upgrades. Just a wonderful property to explore and serve as a quiet place to relax. the host was also very great to work with.

The Best!

My husband and I have used VRBO many times over the years and have been very satisfied with the properties. However, this place was by far my husband’s favorite of all time. The property took us back in time but gave us all today’s amenities. AND the views-priceless! If you love nature, quiet, relaxing, and reading, this is your place. If you love indoor and outdoor fireplaces, this is the place. If you love hiking, this is the place. If you love sitting on a covered front porch, having a drink and talking while it rains, this is the place. If you love being 30 minutes to Roanoke’s restaurants, shopping, and other amenities, this is the place. If you love being 15 minutes to Floyd and it’s small town atmosphere, this is the place. Bottom line—-this is the place. BUT only when we aren’t booked there again!😎

Beautiful view from a wonderful cabin

My husband and I spent a weekend at the cabin with my mom while in the area for a sporting event. We also managed to fit in a couple of wineries. The cabin is lovely and well-appointed. The newer extension stays warmer than the cabin. This meant that the toasty bedroom over the kitchen was perfect for my mom and the bedroom over the great room stayed a little cooler which was perfect for us! We bundled up to watch the sun set and Roanoke light up in the evening and then lit a fire and enjoyed some wine and conversation. I would definitely plan a return visit!!!

Amazing stay

Unexpected gem of a property. We loved walking the trails around the log cabin, playing checkers and UNO in front of the fireplace in the living room. Floyd within 30 minute drive and great restaurant 5 minute drive from the cabin. Would love to stay again for another long weekend. Highly recommend!

Blissful Mountain Stay

What an amazing property! I've stayed at my fair share of rentals, and this one surely ranked towards the top of the list. A little tricky to navigate to, but absolutely worth it once you get to the 'top'. We spent the majority of our time outside looking over the beautiful mountain scape and Roanoke. The trails on the property were really fun to explore which was an added bonus! Cell service is spotty inside the home, but accessible outside. You can tell there's a lot of TLC that went into this special home, and we greatly appreciate Jim sharing it with us. We hated having to leave and would certainly return for another stay!

Heaven still exists

This old house has all the comforts for a new home yet you feel you are back in time. Amazing job with the home!!!! The view is exquisite and the property is perfect. All details were thought of. This house will touch your soul.

Another wonderful stay in overlook cabin.

From the time you enter this cabin, to the restful sleep at night, this cabin is absolutely wonderful. You can feel the history of the 170-year-old cabin below your feet while climbing the stairs. Meanwhile the cabin has been completely redone to offer all of the modern-day conveniences. Jim is also a wonderful host who cares for his guest as if they are family. There is simply nothing bad to say about our visit. We will be back again.

This is hands down the best place we have stayed! As soon as we pulled up we were amazed at the location and the view. The house and the property is just perfect! We had a light snowfall that made it even more dreamy. We can't wait to go back!

Overlook Cabin

This cabin is a great spot to get away and hike. The property is beautiful, and we had a great time hiking the trails. It is only a 20 minute drive to Roanoke city's downtown if you want to dine out and do some shopping.

Just What We Needed

Overlook Cabin was everything that we were expecting and more! The cabin itself has every amenity that you would expect, with a homey and comfortable atmosphere. The views are absolutely magnificent and the property allows for a very a private setting. Jim was very accommodating in anything that we needed and responded promptly to our requests. Overall, we loved our stay and will definitely be back!

This cabin was absolutely wonderful!

The cabin was everything the web site described and more. Sitting high up on Bent Mountain the cabin view was one of the best views I’ve seen. At night the distance lights of Roanoke shimmered through the miles between the Cabin and the city – the atmosphere giving it the look of sequence. As a history buff I would really like to know the history of the place. There is a scribed date in the chinking between the logs that says 1854 – 2006. By this… I can only guess that it was first built in 1854 and then rebuilt in 2006. The rebuild added all the modern-day amenities that were done in very clever ways as to not take away from the historical aspects. As an added bonus, there were many hiking trails that winded around the property. When we did leave the cabin to explore we felt as if we only wanted to get back to the warmth of the fire. We will be definitely be going back.
