Log cabin on Macintosh Pond access to VAST trail system snowmobile trails.
Post and beam log cabin on 40 acres is completely private on a dead end road with a large flat lawn to enjoy. Less than 1/10 mile walk from the back porch to the abutting MacIntosh Pond. Located close to the VT Law School, boating, swimming, hiking. Killlington ski area is 33 miles away. Located on the VAST trail system. Open concept eat-in kitchen/dining and living room makes cooking and entertaining easy. Lower level in-law offers 2 bedrooms and its own living area and can be closed off from rest of house. The driveway is a long gradual uphill. There is a a turn around area a large parking area which accommodates snowmobile and motorcycle trailers well. AWD is recommended during the winter months. Dairy Hill Rd which leads to our road/driveway is also a very long uphill drive. The ride along the White River to get to Dairy HIll Rd is always bustling with fishing, swimming and kyacking. Being in the woods cell service can be very, very spotty, so please check with your carrier. ECFiber for our internet which is really good!! We are located on the VAST (VT Association of Snow Trail) system. It is easily accessible from our property. Great for snowmobiles and hiking.

House was great! Very clean, plenty of room and Joanne was the perfect host. She communicated frequently and responded quickly to our messages. Would highly recommend this beautiful home for large family/group. Even caught a fish in the pond!
This house was an absolute gem - it had comfort, space, convenience to nature and town, plus a super friendly and responsive host. The house was well stocked and in excellent shape and, unlike many rentals, it had 4 bedrooms that all had king beds! No arm-wrestling needed to see who would get the "good room". Plus two rooms with multiple bunk beds. It was perfect for multiple families coming together, lots of spaces that different people could gather. The house was walking distance to the lake (we came in April, so didn't go swimming, but saw it in our mini-hikes in the adjacent trail system and we did get to snowshoe right out of the back door.) This was a short drive to South Royalton and the amazingly well stocked co-op. We are already thinking about what occasions we might come up with to have an excuse to return.
The Big Chill Meets the 21st Century but no one died!
When 15 old friends get together after 40 years, / it's guaranteed to be a fun weekend. But when the house we chose is as nice as this one, it makes the weekend even better. Plenty of room for eating, sleeping, socializing, and reconnecting. The pantry was well stocked with extra paper towels, toilet paper, and lightbulbs. And the kitchen! A single cup coffee maker and one for a full pot, a well-stocked spice cupboard, and more pots and pans than we knew how to use! Lovely location and plenty of parking. The owner was very quick to respond to our questions. This home will definitely be on our list for the next time.
Overall we had a wonderful time---but it did start out a bit ‘rough’ as we had some problems with the electronic door lock, refrigerator, thermostat and the internet! Joanne was very responsive and once the first 3 were resolved ---the situation much improved. As stated in the ad, internet was spotty and mostly off for the first 3 days. The issue was with the provider and not of her doing----and she reiterated she was replacing internet providers so future folks should not have the issues we did. Phone service was also spotty and irregular.
There is no AC in the home and as outside temperatures warmed up we shut the house up during the day while we were gone and still it was 81+ upon arriving home and uncomfortably hot at bedtime. Inoperable windows due to missing handles made the air stagnant.
We did bring floor fans down from upstairs and that helped. There were no ceiling fans on the main floor, but ceiling fans were in bedrooms in the upper floor.
It was lovely sitting on front porch both early morning and evenings. The kitchen was nicely laid out stocked with the necessary cookware and bakeware. Plenty of luxurious towels, and supplies to make the stay comfortable and convenient. As stated in the ad----you definitely need 4 wheel drive in the winter!!
We did love the privacy and bucolic setting of the home. We even experienced turtles coming from the pond on 2 days to lay eggs in sunny spots in the back yard! An added bonus for sure!
