About the host
Hosted by Amy Mathis

My husband and I live in Fairhope, Alabama. I'm from the mountains of East Tennessee and he's a "Florida Man." We love to travel and have spent a lot of time in New Orleans over the course of our lives - him mostly for work, me mostly for pleasure.
Why they chose this property
The building was built in 1840 and the history oozes from every brick and board. It was remodeled into condos in the early 2000s and is exceptionally livable. Thick brick walls keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. High ceilings let the heat rise away from you. We bought this place when my husband was working in NOLA regularly, and now that he isn't, and we've enjoyed it for awhile, we want to share our enjoyment with folks who will appreciate the history and location as much as we do. We don't want to give up the opportunity to visit every now and then, so thought we would try short long-term rentals rather than locking it up for 6 month or a year at a time as a leased property.
What makes this property unique
This condo is in a fabulous area - across the street from the New Orleans School of Cooking, same block as Johnny's Po Boys and the Napoleon House, a block and a half from 2 different Cafe Beignets, and as close to grass as you can get in the Quarter - very important if you have pups with business to do and message boards to check! Good location if you're interested in the Shops at Canal Place, Canal and beyond, too. People-watching from the balcony can't get any better! Having a washer/dryer, dedicated parking, and a full kitchen make it easy to walk in and start living like a local. This is not hotel life!
