Unpleasant

When we arrived at the property, the owner met us, taking care of one dog, which made us feel uncomfortable, because there was no explanation on the website that the owner was in the room next to us living in the house, although the room was nice and clean, there was no way to get our money back, we stayed anyway, but in the future I will pay attention to the details and feedback from other customers.

Misleading

While the property is nice and the bed was comfortable you are staying in someone's home. That was more than a little awkward. As others have mentioned if I had realized that i would not have booked.

Felt uncomfortable

The property is beautiful. What I didnt realize is that it was just the room we were renting, and that there would be other people in the home. We were not allowed to adjust the thermostat, and the house was hot. When we were being shown around, my husband said, "Oh, there is the TV." While we were in the living room. And we were told we had one in our room. We were sitting on the back porch one night, in the dark, just relaxing, when the owner came out and asked if we wanted lights turned on. We both said no, but he turned them on anyway. There is an office right next to our room, and it seemed as if every time we went out into the hall, the guy came out of the office to see what we were doing. We were very uncomfortable. The home is beautiful, the bed was comfortable, and the other renter was very nice. But if you are looking to relax and be alone, go somewhere else. I'm not trying to give a bad review, it just wasn't the right place for me to rent.

Didn’t realize the owner would be present

The house was a perfect location for our overnight stop, however We didn’t realize the homeowner ACTUALLY lived there & would be present during our stay. We made a later arrival (approximately 10:30pm) & the house was DARK, no lights anywhere. The owner promptly got up & offered to help carry items in. The driveway was steep & a bit of a walk to the door. I felt bad for disturbing her & felt a little awkward trying to get settled knowing she was in the next room. Overall, the stay was fine, just a bit odd because I felt like an inconsiderate guest.

Stay

The property was very clean and inviting and so was Marlene, but I thought I was staying in the house alone and that was not the case. I would not have booked had that been the case.

Hi there! I’m Marlen, your friendly host at the Relaxing Oasis tucked away in the Texas Hill Country. I’ve had the pleasure of welcoming guests from all over, and I genuinely enjoy creating a calm, comfortable space where you can truly unwind.

My goal is to make sure your stay is smooth and stress-free. Whether you need a local recommendation, have a random question, or just want to know how the coffee maker works—I’m here to help. Your comfort and safety are top priority, and I make sure everything is in place so you can relax the moment you arrive.

If you’re looking for a quiet, well-cared-for space with a thoughtful host who won’t hover, you’ve come to the right place. I look forward to welcoming you soon!

Why they chose this property

Welcome to my cozy little retreat—tucked away in the Texas Hill Country where the skies are big, the nights are quiet, and the deer think they own the place (and honestly, they kind of do).

I chose this spot because it’s peaceful, naturally beautiful, and just far enough from the hustle to feel like a real escape. The neighborhood has those winding country roads, Texas Sandstone homes, and trees that seem to have been here forever. There's no light pollution, so you can actually see the stars—like, really see them.

It’s the kind of place where people wave when they walk by, bike rides are encouraged, and you might find yourself unintentionally whispering because it’s so quiet (don't worry, it’s not a rule). Plus, watching the deer families wander by never really gets old.

If you’re looking for a calm, un-fussy place to unwind and breathe a little deeper, this just might be your kind of vibe. I’d love to share it with you—just don’t be surprised if the local wildlife makes you feel right at home first.

What makes this property unique

My Relaxing Oasis—a cozy, peaceful hideaway nestled in one of the quietest corners of Texas Hill Country. Tucked into a safe, tree-lined neighborhood, the house is just a short drive from the charming San Marcos square, close to all the local favorites, and about 40 minutes from both Austin and San Antonio airports (just far enough to avoid the chaos, but close enough for a quick getaway).

Step inside and you’ll find a space that’s both stylish and welcoming, with a mix of modern comfort and a few classic touches—kind of like your favorite coffee shop, but with fewer laptops. The one-acre garden out back is peaceful and occasionally visited by curious deer who think they’re part of the landscaping crew.

Your guest room has a lovely view of the garden, a comfy bed. I’m always nearby if you have questions, need anything, or just want to know the best place to grab Texas BBQ.

So if you’re ready to trade bland hotel vibes for a little personality and some fresh Hill Country air, I’d love to host you.
