We are built on a hillside so we recommend an ATV or 4 x 4. There are also stairs leading to the house and inside the house, so be sure guests are physically able to climb steps.
Other Details:
There is a potential for noise during your stay due to construction behind our property. If you're planning on being at the beach or exploring the area during the day, you likely won't be affected. Our pricing reflects a discount because of the noise potential.
Our house is family friendly, but it is an "adventure house." We do not recommend it for young children or those who love to climb railings. Our daughter and her friends are 6 to 7 and it's been great for them. You are welcome to bring younger kids, but we don't have anything to block the stairways so keep a keen eye on them.
It is not an uncommon occurrence in Costa Rica to periodically be without power, water and internet in this region. If you're out and about you may not even notice, but we have a large backup water tank (3 days worth) for times like these and will help assist you with getting fresh drinking water in the unlikely chance the tank runs out. Also, water pressure in Costa Rica is lower compared to what most experience in North America.
Lastly, living in the outskirts of the Amazonian jungle means small creatures, bats, crabs, scorpions, beetles, lizards, ants, moths, and even house cats, may come by for a visit. Especially at night. Our home has a few small, open spaces to keep the house cool and prevent mold. To minimize unwanted visitors, we close up all doors and windows at sunset and keep lights dim until bedtime. Each bed is equipped with mosquito nets. That being said it is all a part of the Costa Rica charm and adventure and we love it. Life is unexpected here, so enjoy the ride and the beauty.
We will do everything we can to make your stay as wonderful and comfortable as possible, but we cannot offer refunds for bugs, outages, bad weather or construction noise. Sorry!
